Naughty Corey slicing a cable above your knee, I saw my dad do that once with a Stanley knife and he took a chunk out of is leg just above his knee cap bit more force and he'd of hit his knee cap - he never went hospital all he did was "Pass us that super glue son" so I passed it him he closed the wound, disinfected it and then glue it shut, then wrapped it with a bit of duct tape... I was amazed and to think you got footballers on 100's of thousands per week and when they have their nice shiny football shoes stepped on they roll around on the floor flapping about like a fish out of water... always slice away from your self and never near any fleshy parts. Good to see you back :D
Love Cory’s genuine openness on solving the problems given to him and using his years of experience solving them as too all his explanations. Very knowledgeable.
Nice job overcoming the situation you were in, highly recommend keeping a can of cable lube on your van to help with tight conduit. Has saved me ass a few times with pulling under ground cable in a small diameter pipe, usually the head gets stuck in the middle somewhere. Also keep a spool of armored cable on your van so you dont get caught with your pants down. Cheers.
That was a brilliant video as usual, great explanation of r1 and r2. Love the fact you show people and tell people what you do. I hope they respect your profession more as a result 👍🏼
Another great video, guys. Nice explanation too re R1+R2 vs insulation resistance, Cory - have heard you refer to it so much but great to finally understand what you're checking on each install.
Hi guy's, I a not an electrician, but love these videos and the humour, banter and team work. I have enough understanding to appreciate the way you plan, work things out as you go, whilst ensuring your work/customer satisfaction is 100%. Jordan can be confident his company name is in good hands, that will keep you all in employment going forward. We'll done.! Alex.
For galvanic corrosion to occur, three conditions must be present: Electrochemically dissimilar metals must be present. These metals must be in electrical contact, and. The metals must be exposed to an electrolyte.
Nice one Corey - having been trained in the 80s to maybe the 16th or possibly 15th edition testing was never (or very little) a part of Industrial/ commercial or domestic installations - great explanation of the R1/ R2/ RN/ insulation resistance testing - I feel like I could go back to it all tomorrow.
In future don't bother with knots on the blue draw rope. Just twist it open and push the cable between the strands. As you pull the draw rope will automatically close down on the cable. Just a little bit of tape at the end is needed.
Great job. Assume that's also a lesson for someone back in the office, that you need to check the capacity and cable size going back to the main board if looking to use a sub board. Lucky to have that sizeable conduit under the garden.
Some words of wisom. How to make your life easier when you turn 23. Bring with you: A fold up stool A fold up waterproof bucket for your tools. An apprentice to do the hard stuff and wrestle with the rats in the bush for you.
Nice install Cory, as per usual.😉 My question is, when will you be showing us you van racking system? Also can you do more of the testing & inspection explanations? I'm trying to better understand the testing procedures in place. I want to better my core knowledge of the fundamentals behind it.👍🏼
Great content as always! Would love to know how jobs like this are charged? Is it a day rate regardless of work? Curious as the expectations vs reality of the job was worlds apart!
Cable lubricant is your friend. I'm in telecomm and work with so much conduit, I will not pull a run without it. I keep some of the liquid lubricant and a spray can of dry lubricant (usually Teflon or graphite), it gets messy sometimes but that's why we have gloves.
What’s the issue with the ac upstream? The type a inside the zappi will do the trick against the dc leakage? Or is it incase that charger blinds that type ac? Even though the type a inside should trip? Cheers!
Hi Cory, I have purchased the same Metrel that you use. I do wish I went for a Megger as I find it very complicated... If you have a good understanding on how it works it would make a really useful video. Cheers mate, keep up the good work.
Btw, the 2ohm minimum for insulation resistance is for the entire installation, not an individual circuit. If you’re getting >999 per circuit this obviously won’t be a problem, but just a little note. Great video as always!
Such great vids and I am not even a sparky, love watching you guys! One question, the regs with different RCD types and EV chargers…..does it depend on the charger being installed? I have an Ohme Home Pro waiting for my Polestar arriving next week, it’s has upstream in this order; 40a MCB, 80a RCCB, 100a main switch…
be great to see what you don't like about the MI1352 as I was looking at getting one. Been looking at the Megger's but heard people having issues with them
Makes life a lot easier with a small seat, I should have got one years ago, recently purchased one. No use getting older if you don't get wiser. On testers, I prefer Megger, kewtech are the old robin, the one in the video and others like the TIS look a bit fisher price.
Can you do a episode about the metrel and what you don’t like about it and what you do? I was looking at getting one, but now not sure. Do you use it because of the ev charger testing capabilities?
Banjos and roofing bolts , stopped using them now . Use the earthing nuts easier to tighten up, and they use a grub screw to lock on to the armoured thread . with multiple points to secure cpc ring crimp on the nut. Also great video content, well done guys 👊👍
I thought most stainless steels did not corrode (or that the oxide layer was very thin)... so would it be the *brass* then? I've certainly seen corrosion on *galvanized steel* pipe...
Why the concern with the measurement of the ZS because its a live test when, so are RCD tests? You can test from the same point in the circuit (charge point adaptor) I should imagine? Not a dig as you lads are very conscientious workers, maybe I'm missing something
Here in America, I watch electricians assume the run is good! No resistance/short testing! I always test, terminate, verify, go live, and final voltage test. Every receptacle and socket, every time. Attitude affects quality of work.
Yea, a lot of the tactics that they seem to have adopted in Britain to keep their somewhat more complicated system (rings specifically) safe would be good practice in North America too. Things like enhanced testing and an EICR equivalent would be great for peace of mind, even if they might not be as necessary because of the slightly more straightforward nature of our systems.
Great presentation. Using an swa earthing ring on the inside of plastic enclosure not always the best practice as if you do get a cpc current flowing it can lead to softening of the plastic and poor cpc connection. Not likely, but possible. I thought you were an earth nut user. Or else secure between two locking nuts on the inside.
thoroughly enjoyed this video and I don't know why. You lost me when you started talking. R1 and 2? OK I know R is a letter in the alphabet and 1 and 2 are basic numbers, but you contextualised them in a way, that if I'm honest, was when my brain started to melt. I watched the rest holding a metal pole I had driven deep into the earth. Yet I still think I learned something, mainly that Persil removes stubborn stains.
Great informative Video Cory... Question .... All the gear on the vans isit all supplied by Artisan or do the lads provide the boxs clips, glands etc and charge them out to Artisan as they are used on jobs... Cheers Paul

why didnt you put the CT clamp to the main box so it would load balance/limit on the entire house instead of the garage only?
Great job.

Btw, the 2ohm minimum for insulation resistance is for the entire installation, not an individual circuit. If you’re getting >999 per circuit this obviously won’t be a problem, but just a little note. Great video as always!

Nice video. When drilling in the corner of the CU how can you be sure there wont be any cables behind? Isnt this a bit of a risk? cheers

How do you choose which charger to fit?
What made you go from your own van, and I assume working for yourself, to working for Jordan??
What certificates do you have to do for these chargers. Is it just a eic or is there others thanks

Also, what’s that cable tie trick to keeping the cores spaced out 18:48
Well spotted! We will share this in another video
4 cable ties. One loosely around the 3 cables. The cable tie each cable individually to that cable tie. Keeps things neat and tidy.
