Yo I just did this after a week of non-stop gigs and competitions for the winter and my chops were dying. Now I’m back where I was and I did it for about 8 minutes total and already am a comfortable half-step higher than I was (high D above staff). This actually works wtf thanks Blaise
Quad C on an average day and a lot higher when I was young. Relaxation and breath support are really vital. Great attitude and energy on your vid. All the best Pops
Hey Blaise how long did it take you to build your range? Like would you constantly add a couple new notes every couple of months? Or was there a big breakthrough in your range at some point?
I could play the 2nd g above the staff since 8th grade. In my 40s, an instrument salesman talked me into trying a Schilke 14 4A mouthpiece and it boosted my range up a couple notes.
I noticed at the beginning of the video your embouchure and mine are very similar. Which is very interesting because my band teacher says that my embouchure is incorrect and i should change it by not using as much lower lip and i'm not tensing my lips enough although i can pretty much only play like that.
In my middle school band I playing a small solo for UYL competition if you don't know what that is it's basically what you practice all year for we're playing the songs, black forest overtoure, captin American march, and as twilight falls
I tried this yesterday night, in the cold December Pennsylvania night and a on my T-shirt. Today I have severe tonsillitis. 4 or 5 days without being able to practice: exactly what a trumpet players needs. Thanks Blaise
4:33 just like to clarify, the mute is not to make a brass instrument quieter. it is to change the timbre that the instrument makes. p.s. im a sax player
I can't choose what is better between jazz and classical. It really depends on if it is a good song. Some of both is great. Also, where does your statistics come from?
do you know dey way To PLAY high, you must first GET high. Just kidding. Practice with the lower notes and long tones. It takes a little while but if you don’t have a mouthpiece to speed up the process then it’s your only option. Or go outside. Because I just did and it works no joke.
I unlocked my high high range around 8th to Freshman year. You have to build up that muscle and train your ears all at the same time. Then you have to practice until your good at it
I cant tell if this is sarcastic or not.. If it is im very suprised considering your a small trumpet channel, they never usually do anything with the "SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON!! *foams at the mouth*" part of youtube.
One time I was auditioning for high school band and I was doing scales. I was trying to go to a double g but could only play a bad high d. I could hit double c's at home but I knew that that would never happen at an audition so I just went for a g. The tension ruined my audition. My tone also sounded bad.
I took a cold shower and played for about 5-10 minutes then warmed up and played again and didn’t really notice much of a difference, did I do something wrong.

Me: Uh... playing trumpet?
Lol yeah🤣
Me: mom im going to take a shower
Mom: why are you taking your trumpet
Me: NO PAIN NO GAIN
Mom: alright
Lol
Wow🤣
Lmfao R.I.P
Mom probably thought he was doing something else with that trumpet
True dat
Are you the Jake Paul version of a musician?
Throwback Thursday no his tips actually work
I hit myself with a bat for 2 weeks and after barely hitting a double g, I hit a high e over super C. Very effective
Ouch!
Lol
Ive been trying to figure out how to break into the high A and above and this did the trick
All 6th grade trumpets immediately click this 😂
Lill Ifers Im 7th grade
thelethal machine same
Im exposed xD
I aint a trumpet, im a sax🎷
Lol im 6th grade and a boy in my class plays double a flat so yeah i know he's not clicking on this vid lol i did
Yo I just did this after a week of non-stop gigs and competitions for the winter and my chops were dying. Now I’m back where I was and I did it for about 8 minutes total and already am a comfortable half-step higher than I was (high D above staff). This actually works wtf thanks Blaise
That's dope bro. Glad to help!
Bro, I need you to hit me w/ a baseball bat cause the highest I can play is a high D
for real me too. I can only play a high eb, e just won't come out 😂
The Illusionist same
Ill hook you up. I can only play a high D too lol
Double C bro I still need that bat
Clayton Davis same
The highest I've ever been able to play was a D above the staff.......by accident
neuromaniac OOF
The highest note I have ever played is a C below the staff.... jk
I get a Double G semi consistently.
FragicalMagical Ha well the highest I’ve played is double pedal F#
Same
it’s insane how all of these 6th graders in the comment section in their first year of playing trumpet are suddenly louis armstrong smh
I like the Bat method the best. 😂
he really just said all vid "this is easy" and " 60% higher instantly!!" damn get to it already
Quad C on an average day and a lot higher when I was young. Relaxation and breath support are really vital. Great attitude and energy on your vid. All the best Pops
one time at a parade, my friend didnt keep his mouthpeice warm and his lips stuck to it and his lips were all bloody and stuff
He must've been using wayyyy too much pressure. Cold is GOOD for your chops. Facts
just don't put wet chops on a 20 degree mouthpiece =D
Ooof
I have a chair test and I was literally crying for an hour while trying to get a high F. This kinda helped me.
Hey Blaise how long did it take you to build your range? Like would you constantly add a couple new notes every couple of months? Or was there a big breakthrough in your range at some point?
Kinda both. Once I got up to double G, I hit a wall that I couldn't go past. Then I embraced this hack and my range skyrocketed to double d.
I'm a trombone player but I still watch trumpet videos!
Low brass ftw
Me 2
really helped i went from a G below the staff to a G on the staff
Your not a good teacher your talking too much instead of demonstrating your lesson
Blaise, whenever I still watch your videos, I go from being a robotic trumpet player to being hyped and innovative in my trumpet playing.
lol its negative 30 outside in the winter - 90% higher!!!
I could play the 2nd g above the staff since 8th grade. In my 40s, an instrument salesman talked me into trying a Schilke 14 4A mouthpiece and it boosted my range up a couple notes.
And Jazz by the way
I have been playing trumpet and tried this out and i got the next note out that i have been troubling with but my range only improved by 1 note
Most get up to half an octave if not more. Try again with more emphasis on cold
I play a F above the staff on the final hit of our marching show. Its 40 degrees out during the season
Me in arizona: puts ice cube in mouth
Ok I'm ready
he has so much energy
GOTTA STAY HYPED
Bouncing off the walls 😂
It's called the octave key, you hit a high note, then push the trumpet hard into your chops, like I said octave key
I noticed at the beginning of the video your embouchure and mine are very similar. Which is very interesting because my band teacher says that my embouchure is incorrect and i should change it by not using as much lower lip and i'm not tensing my lips enough although i can pretty much only play like that.
I can go up to a double G. Hopefully this will help get that up to a double C.
Great video, glad you’re back b:)
is there any way to try out an xpiece before i buy one? I don't like buying mouthpieces before I know that it works for me
I can only play a high g. I suck
Nick Wolf same lol I didn’t even make jazz band
trunchqin2 they were waiting to beg me to join after I came out the womb
omg me too
@trunchqin2 lol Same
Bro, I can't even hit high g. I can only hit high c.
In my middle school band I playing a small solo for UYL competition if you don't know what that is it's basically what you practice all year for we're playing the songs, black forest overtoure, captin American march, and as twilight falls
Please do DCI multitracks!!!
Maybe....like this comment if I should 🔥
Blaise Bowman 1st request.. blue devils 2014 felliniesque
and bd 2017
Nick Montell yes!!
Scv 2018 and bloo 2016
I always wondered why my playing was really good in my winter parade
i like both jazz and classical! Nice torpedo bag :-)
without all of this, I was able to hit a double G. I WAS JUST LIKE BORN FOR THIS!!!!
I prefer Classical, my top range is easily a double G, but i can squeak out Dub C's, i just won't count it until it's good.
classical or jazz i pick both
HE'S BACK 😍
I tried this yesterday night, in the cold December Pennsylvania night and a on my T-shirt. Today I have severe tonsillitis. 4 or 5 days without being able to practice: exactly what a trumpet players needs. Thanks Blaise
as of right now the highest I can hit is an e above the staff but I want to get higher than that :)
My Max is High D (the high - high D, a few lines above the staff)
4:33 just like to clarify, the mute is not to make a brass instrument quieter. it is to change the timbre that the instrument makes.
p.s. im a sax player
Does this work for Double Horn?
I can't choose what is better between jazz and classical. It really depends on if it is a good song. Some of both is great. Also, where does your statistics come from?
Through testing with friends and subscribers. The average range increase was an additional 60% to their actual range.
I thought the statistics were made up but if they are actually true this could be revolutionary. I'm gonna try next time I get a chance.
Definitely gonna try this! And Jazz is wayyyy better
That moment when you live in northern Ontario and its -50 (-65 with the wind chill) and ur going outside in a t-shirt and shorts.
But what if Im broke and I can only get a simple mouth piece what should I get to play high
do you know dey way To PLAY high, you must first GET high. Just kidding. Practice with the lower notes and long tones. It takes a little while but if you don’t have a mouthpiece to speed up the process then it’s your only option. Or go outside. Because I just did and it works no joke.
Bobby shew lead is a good cheap lead mouthpiece
I still can't play the G that is at the top of the staff... I have had my trumpet for 3 weeks
Wow that's intense all I wanted was G just above the staff lol
Apply for tuba?
All these 6th graders Lyon about how high they can go
What’s the pop before your intro
Classical jazz
I unlocked my high high range around 8th to Freshman year. You have to build up that muscle and train your ears all at the same time. Then you have to practice until your good at it
I am a sophomore in high school and I can squeak a high g or something like that
Phantomsleet616 aqi I am a freshman and I can hit the A above the staff sometimes
Phantomsleet616 aqi I am a second year trumpet player and can play a c above staff
I can play an E above staff and I’m a freshman in high school
These are the most trumpet comments I've seen in a hot minute
The highest note can play clean is the Eb above the staff.
When I can only play a high E inside like the normal scale
Is the effect permenant or temporary?
I cant tell if this is sarcastic or not.. If it is im very suprised considering your a small trumpet channel, they never usually do anything with the "SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON!! *foams at the mouth*" part of youtube.
I have hit the high g but I got braces, I can play a high c if I really work for it
been playing for bout 8 months, Highest note? Double EE
I can scream a double a and squeak a double c. Would this still help?
I can play high A
Jazz of course
I cant even play a g. i have a audition tomorrow
Brighton Young mine was today
I Love it bro,Jazz is what I practice, can you gave me some tips on jazz and what I need to practice? I'm working on my high notes
Why r u so red lol
What horn are you playing on in this video
One time I was auditioning for high school band and I was doing scales. I was trying to go to a double g but could only play a bad high d. I could hit double c's at home but I knew that that would never happen at an audition so I just went for a g. The tension ruined my audition. My tone also sounded bad.
I've never had good chops for trumpet.
I now see why. I'm pretty sure I just don't have the personality for it.
When you live in the south 😪
I’m just curious what the average is based on age. I’m in 8th grade and have been playing for about 3/3.5 years now and I can get about up to a D.
Jazz bruh
I can play a high c or d
Youre immune to it bc of ur name lol "Blaise" 😂 glad ur back
Awesome Blaise, just like me, Blaze (same soundings) 😄
I took a cold shower and played for about 5-10 minutes then warmed up and played again and didn’t really notice much of a difference, did I do something wrong.
The water wasn't cold enough. You have to be shivering dude and fight it off. That's how this works
CLASSICAL IS WAYYYYYY BETTER THAN JAZZ (in my opinion) the highest I can hit is a high A✨🎺🎼
Do I need a Speedmaster for this to work?
Certainly doesn't hurt 😂
I like classical
Joshua Hunt but you know that jazz is better m8
Ripley Street To some people it may be, but to others, however, it may not be.
I have a 16C4 mouthpiece size and I’m wondering is that a good size or what should I really have?
I have a Yamaha 16c4 I’ve used it for like 4 5 years at this point. I know this comment is like 3 years old, and I’m wondering, did u switch?
Does this actually work😂 if it does please let me know
eric razo YES! Try it. The science and results are there! Cryotherapy is a legit thing.
eric razo I just did this and it's no lie I love it
eric razo Ur here too lol, this is Jake the Mello!!!
Jake Sprenger hey dude😂😂😂😂
So is this a one time o,my thing where to play high I need to have been cold just before that or does it stay so I can play high whenever.
No, it's a hack to build the muscle memory necessary to stay relaxed. Once you "figure it out" you'll be 100% gucci.
Are you a parody?
Nah he jokes around but what he says actually works pretty damn good. I'm up an octave in two months lol
normally i can hit a super c but i tried this just now, i got a g above that, what kind of sorcery is this???
I don't even play trumpet, why am I here?
(btw jazz is much better lmao)
The most influential jazz artist (Louis Armstrong) was a trumpet player....
@@Daniel2010739 watch the full video
What's the notes for that lick at the beginning
OOOF
Best TMP ever… all of them…😎👍
I am about to go to high school and can only play the first A above the staff.
Does this work for trombone players?
Been playing for maybe a year and I can play 2 octaves above the staff.
Can’t play double Eb on Haydn concerto
I can only play up to a high C in the staff
I play a consistent D# maybe E above staff
💯 percent JAZZ so awesome my favorite thing to play!!!!
Good god! what an Sergio video!
where’s the link again? great video haha!
My highest note is a triple c, but I am also a 1st chair in my school's wind ensemble of 12 people total
