This is the one I've been waiting for. A lot of people hate on the M340i and way underestimate how stout the B58tu engine is. It's so tunable. But I was still surprised to see how well it did against the M3P.
@@ICEV M340i is tuned and the performance isn’t that far off from the Model 3P to begin with (0-60 in 3.7, 1/4 in 12.2 @115 bone stock) and I’ve seen some tuned M340i’s running with much faster cars. I’m a big fan personally. But I actually just ordered a 2022 Model 3P. I don’t care if it’s not as quick as a modified M340, it’s a completely different experience and it does what it does without breaking a sweat. Way fewer moving parts, instant torque, charging at home, etc…

I enhanced this video with my editing software and the acceleration graph on the tesla is not fully being used at all, only 60% of the acceleration is being used which makes sense why the 340i won because it's not faster then a model 3p on the 1/4 LOL

I loved my new Bmw M340i for multiple reasons! Unfortunately, I had to get of it because it was in the shop almost 10 times in the first 16 months. I had multiple electrical issues, drivetrain, as well as powertrain. All of these issues were recurring and my car was pretty much bone stock, with NO TUNE!!
There is no red badge on the steering wheel. What are you talking about? There never was on any Performance Model. You can see the red calipers. Also the acceleration checks out for a Model 3 Performance.

I meant tuned as in tune to the level of M340i we see in this video or near this level. Dinan doesn't change the variables as much as other tunes out there that really shows the potential of these engines. As far as I know, Dinan only offers a stage 1 tune for the M340i

Tesla is so misrepresented in this video. Track mode cools your battery which significantly decreases performance. I know that from a 30-130 roll the M3P can walk an AWD M5 comp if properly pre-conditioned. SOC also plays a factor but people miss that battery condition is what’s most important for straight line performance in the Tesla. It can make the difference of up to 200HP if pre-conditioned properly.
Something isn’t right about this video unless that BMW is in the 10s. You post great content Sam but without seeing times there is no way to truly see what is going on here. The Model 3 driver said he started at 320 miles of range. That isn’t possible in a Model 3 Performance. It never goes that high even with 100% charge and brand new. I honestly think the owner lied. That looks more like what a Model 3 Long range does with the Boost pack. Some people claim it is the same as the Performance but it isn’t. There is a big difference on the launch. You need to do another race with a true Model 3 Performance or give us some times from these races to see what is going on.

@@SamCarLegion I have this exact car and it doesn’t need to be full to get max performance but it certainly does need to be above 60%. I have tested it and at 90% it will run the same as 100%. However, at 60% it will lose a lot. Stock with 90%-100% I run 11.54 @ 116 mph and 0-60 mph is 3.28 without subtracting rollout. I have time slips and dragy times for both of those. What was the Tesla in this video running for times?

M340i with All wheel drive already launches very hard even without a tune. Teslas' tend to launch hard but then peter out at the top end; thus they get passed easily after a quarter mile by equally fast combustion engine cars.
Make it make sense please electric cars instant torque so they reach the speed max quickly while ICE builds up to reach there max. So obviously they will pass because it can't go no more🙄🙄🤷🤷🤦

That tuned m340 is fast, but are you guys sure that was a Model 3 performance? The Model 3 performance actually has 480hp and the long range has 450 hp.
I think the mistake people make is thinking all Teslas are plaids. Honestly it’s rare to see a P100 and I’ve never seen a plaid on the streets. Dual motor/performance and a ton of lesser variants. I’ve had the pleasure of educating a few Teslas who were waaaay too confident in their bottom tier cars. Honestly most of the time they are safe to just ignore and are unlikely to be seen even reaching the speed limit let alone racing anyone.

Good luck getting the tune. Our 21+ MY cars are DME locked. There are supposedly some companies that have the ability to unlock and tune, but it is a process. FYI that I raced an X5 M550i (twin-turbo v8) in my M340 xDrive from a dig and gapped it.

I loved my new Bmw M340i for multiple reasons! Unfortunately, I had to get of it because it was in the shop almost 10 times in the first 16 months. I had multiple electrical issues, drivetrain, as well as powertrain. All of these issues were recurring and my car was pretty much bone stock, with NO TUNE!!

Dinan doesn't change the variables as much as other tunes out there that really shows the potential of these engines. As far as I know, Dinan only offers a stage 1 tune for the M340i

Tesla is so misrepresented in this video. Track mode cools your battery which significantly decreases performance. I know that from a 30-130 roll the M3P can walk an AWD M5 comp if properly pre-conditioned. SOC also plays a factor but people miss that battery condition is what’s most important for straight line performance in the Tesla. It can make the difference of up to 200HP if pre-conditioned properly.

The Model 3 driver said he started at 320 miles of range. That isn’t possible in a Model 3 Performance. It never goes that high even with 100% charge and brand new.
I honestly think the owner lied. That looks more like what a Model 3 Long range does with the Boost pack. Some people claim it is the same as the Performance but it isn’t. There is a big difference on the launch.
You need to do another race with a true Model 3 Performance or give us some times from these races to see what is going on.

@@SamCarLegion I have this exact car and it doesn’t need to be full to get max performance but it certainly does need to be above 60%. I have tested it and at 90% it will run the same as 100%. However, at 60% it will lose a lot.
Stock with 90%-100% I run 11.54 @ 116 mph and 0-60 mph is 3.28 without subtracting rollout. I have time slips and dragy times for both of those. What was the Tesla in this video running for times?

M340i with All wheel drive already launches very hard even without a tune. Teslas' tend to launch hard but then peter out at the top end; thus they get passed easily after a quarter mile by equally fast combustion engine cars.
Make it make sense please electric cars instant torque so they reach the speed max quickly while ICE builds up to reach there max. So obviously they will pass because it can't go no more🙄🙄🤷🤷🤦

If it is a go pro live video placed from tesla just clocking it on our own stop watch gets it to 14 second 1/4 mile which is again of Long Range model.

I think the mistake people make is thinking all Teslas are plaids. Honestly it’s rare to see a P100 and I’ve never seen a plaid on the streets. Dual motor/performance and a ton of lesser variants. I’ve had the pleasure of educating a few Teslas who were waaaay too confident in their bottom tier cars. Honestly most of the time they are safe to just ignore and are unlikely to be seen even reaching the speed limit let alone racing anyone.

Good luck getting the tune. Our 21+ MY cars are DME locked. There are supposedly some companies that have the ability to unlock and tune, but it is a process. FYI that I raced an X5 M550i (twin-turbo v8) in my M340 xDrive from a dig and gapped it.
I’m guessing the BMW was tuned by Eurocharged Canada. That shop is very good at making fast cars👍
