The steam iron technique is awesome! Thank you for a great informative video
There are some nice tips for removing stains and raising dents. I would say most of the skills are helpful. I choose not to use most oil based topcoats because they do yellow and most folks are trying to avoid that these days. You explained how good gel stain is for vertical surfaces and I entirely agree. Another positive is that one can use this over other surfaces, such as existing finish. Of course, a little scuff sand prior will go a long way with adhesion. Nice video
This video answered so many different questions I’ve had even after watching hours of tutorials. Thank you so much!
I was just going to say the same thing. There are three or four really useful tips on here that I haven't seen anywhere else. Thanks Ron!
So many tips in the video, thank you
I am learning so much from you. Fantastic money saving tips. You are best teacher.
Smoothly done!
Excellent video, very well presented. Thank you. 👍
I had never heard of wood bleach. Thank you.
Oxalic acid. also in Rust-Away. Removes rust from any surface not just wood but concrete, etc.
Some great tips thanks for sharing them. Nice work!
Hi Ron - Would you use a spar varnish on a nook dining table ?
Hey Ron, I put a varathane weathered grey gel stain on top of my dining table, I did sand it, but not completely to the natural wood, it isn't drying at all- any tips?
Wipe off the excess stain that hasn't soaked into the wood.
Thank you for this video. It’s so helpful! What varnish do I put on a outside door?
Spar varnish. It was designed for old sail boats and their spars.
bg147 Thank you..
beautiful
I though that you were not supposed to sand above 120 or 150 when using gel stains?
Nice video. However, I wanted to hear the advantages of gel stain. Misleading title, but still great work!
You have to sand it down to bare wood.
Gel stain is used mostly on things that have already been painted, and would be hard to get it all down to bare wood.
Excellent!
You are the definition of Perfect.
Very informative
What are the advantages that's why I watched the video and did I miss that part or what?????
The gel consistency keeps the stain from running and dripping on vertical surfaces
At no point did he say the advantages of gel stain over wood stain
Well for one, you don't have to sand it down to bare wood.
gel stain goes on thick , it does not run and goes on kind of like paint... you get more even coverage color tone wise and it is great for vertical applications.
Boy that is Red.
I’m not trying to be a Negative Nancy, but I’m going to anyway. Per the title, this video should thoroughly explain the advantages of using gel stain. However, it does not.
