I’ve just got to say how excellent Karun is to watch. Measured, insightful commentary and analysis coupled with frankly charming delivery. Great asset for Sky.
I like the idea and it would make the racing more exciting, but sadly having so many sets of tyres shipped from race to race is not very sustainable. Each car has a mind boggling 13 dry sets (52 tyres) per race.
Karun is the best in the Sky team. Experience of F1 AND an enthusiasm AND knowledge. Didn't rate him as a driver but love him in Sky team. And Bernie Collins.
Could not agree more with Karun’s 2 stop minimum rule. They should have to use all 3 compounds in a race. Maybe introduce it for 6 races a year like they have with sprints
5:52 what India needs right now is a TV broadcaster for F1. When the sport is at it's highest popularity since the Schumacher days, a budding Indian F2 driver trying to make it to F1 and a very popular commentator from India 😉, the broadcasters have abandoned it. People forced to watch on OTT or other means which risks losing older fanbase and new ones. How will you grow the sport if people can't watch it on TV?
So true. My cousin and his friends are starting to follow f1 after I showed them a bit but they really cant watch it anywhere. If they get lucky they can find somewhere public to see, but f1 never comes on the TV there like it does here in the Uk.
Nothing not to like about Karun. I was in the Jerez paddock for a test in 2010 ..bumped in to him a few times …and petrov …all because I bought the Truckies a few beers in hotel bar so they blagged me into the paddock for the day !! I also managed to have a chat with Williams mechanics who arranged a tour of the museum at grove a few months later and then surprised me with a factory tour on the day pure luck ..stayed in same hotel as Lee mckenzie …was a while back but I enjoyed that period of F1 …stood by the chicane the lotus sounded amazing .. happy days ! Didn’t bother going to the track when alonso was driving traffic was a nightmare at Jerez on those days …went to Cadiz watching the times on auto sport website …. Actually skyF1 I need a visit to sky hq please !! Would love to see behind the scenes !!
I agree with Karun on replacing Imola. It was only really brought back as a last minute option in 2020 and apart from '05, there haven't been that many races to write about. But yes, I'm all for a race in Germany and/or France in favour of Imola and maybe even Zandvoort.
Best looking for me is the 2006 Renault, just looking at it fills me with happiness and I think it’s cuz it has purely happy/positive colours that u would always associate with glory. It also reminds me of looking up at the bright blue sky with some white clouds and the sun glaring. Then I’d say the 93 Lotus and 99 Jordan
I like Karun and agree with most of his opinions, but forcing every team to use three different tires would likely force every team to be on the same strategy. It'll essentially just be tougher for newer fans to follow when the grid order vs net grid order changes that many times. Pirelli and the FIA really need to just have 3 dry tires instead of 5 dry tires so we can really enjoy the delta in tracks and driver skills. Also, a guest retired driver in the commentary box every race would be a breath of fresh air
Love your work Karun. You are a major part of a great team. You should try to get a seat at the Bathurst 12hr in a GT3 car. I've been to Bathurst over 35 times.
The 2 best looking cars of all time are the Lotus 79s, Mario won his 78 Championship in Black Beauty, and James Bond saved the world in 1977 with the Esprit S1. As James comments, "What a handsome craft, such clean lines."
Drivers can't swear, putting off young kids, but at the same time you have cars driving around with advertizing for online casino's and vaping products. Advertizing the first of those is only allowed in a lot of countries when over the age of 24, for the 2nd, in a lot of countries advertizement is downright illegal. The FIA has no problems with that apparently. Regarding the best looking F1 cars: early 90's is also my favorite era. But 2 exceptions: the Lotus John Player Special (late 70's) and the Jordan Sharknose/Waspnose/Snakenose 🙂
If you want to make the racing more interesting, you could have the pit crew wear clown suits and run around the car 3 times before they can change tires. It's a race! Horse races don't stop in the middle to have a farrier reshoe the horse, although it would be more interesting. How about marathon runners have to wear combat boots for part of the race. It was better when the teams weren't forced to run part of the race on a non-optimum tire.
I got a picture with him on the Elizabeth line in London and I stupidly said are you the guy who works in f1 because my mind went blank and got to talk about f1 with him too what a good sport
Fully agree about second language - cut them some slack. Sustainable fuels use a hell of a lot of land/water. If F1 really wants to innovate, pour funds into induction charging and go full Scalextric.
THROTTLE and BRAKE POSITIONS on the live graphics please! Binary off/on is lame. Even a coarse 10 position display would be amazing if the teams really don't want to reveal the data live (It's all available after the race anyway so it's surely a moot point)
Wondering how many points he got during his F1 stint. To be honest i don't even remember if he even finished a season, did he?, could be but don't remember him racing at all.
India is such a good fanbase to tap into. The most people in the world, and is filled with really passionate people. Just supply india with a reliable broadcaster similar to sky or espn and then start investing in things to get Indians interested. Trust me, 2021 built up loads of hype there and I know lots of Indians who love following f1. Its a brilliant, untapped market.
The swearing thing is ridiculous. Watch any live rugby or football match and you pick up any amount of swearing. The only difference with F1 is Esc driver is individually micced up. Sure clamp down in interviews but car to pit in race? Let it go
What do you think is the best looking car of all time? 🤩
The Redbull that won Brazil 2024, Simply Lovely 🇳🇱🧡
I think like Mr. Karun . Early 1990s is the best looking cars
Ferrari 156. Will never get over how beautiful that shark nose is.
BT52.
Though I agree that '90-'91 had some nice looking cars as well.
2016 Williams with the Martini livery. Or the gulf McLaren 2021 Monaco.
I’ve just got to say how excellent Karun is to watch. Measured, insightful commentary and analysis coupled with frankly charming delivery. Great asset for Sky.
Second that, really insightful and I agree with so much if not all he says. Bring back those screaming engines.
Yeah Karun is a legend on Sky. Love the guy. Him and Bernie Collins are becoming a the new dynamic duo of insights!
He’s so knowledgable. I think when he was younger, he was an F1 geek and just absorbed so much info, then got into the sport himself
Karun is great. My ideal Sky F1 analyst crew would be him, Bernie, and Nico (the one person who is willing to ask tough questions!).
I would prefer Anthony Davidson over Nico
@@JonnyMc7 I like Ant too. I’d basically take anyone but Danica Patrick lol
@@deeshmond I'd definitely take Danica.. but yeah, i'd rather not try to have deep conversations with her.
100%! Karun and Bernie are definitely the jewels in the sky f1 line up
JENSON BUTTON, LAD.
Mandatory 2 pit stops. Having to use all 3 tire compounds during a dry race is my absolute dream rule.
Make it all five, inters and wets.
Absolutely - I would love to see this.
H shift and a clutch
I like the idea and it would make the racing more exciting, but sadly having so many sets of tyres shipped from race to race is not very sustainable. Each car has a mind boggling 13 dry sets (52 tyres) per race.
@@peetjvv No extra tyres required.
Karun is the best in the Sky team. Experience of F1 AND an enthusiasm AND knowledge. Didn't rate him as a driver but love him in Sky team. And Bernie Collins.
He can’t do pit walks he’s rubbish and no Martin Brundell
To be fair to Karun, he wasn't on the grid long enough to rate as a driver.
Anthony Davidson is also great to watch. He's a simulator driver at Mercedes.
@@dodgemf1yeah I wouldn’t judge anyones driving merits based on that Godawful Hispania
He's dreadful, literally couldn't hide his Verstappen bias if he was paid millions of quid to.
Could not agree more with Karun’s 2 stop minimum rule. They should have to use all 3 compounds in a race. Maybe introduce it for 6 races a year like they have with sprints
Karun is easily the best pundit today in the world of F1. Would like to see him as lead commentator in some races.
Anyone but the squealing Croft.

Even if Sky opened at SkyIndia or something, it would probably be a big boost for everyone
The most knowledgeable pundit ever ❤ More Karun quizzes etc please
Martin Brundle is better IMHO
And that's why Yuki swears so much....those are the few words he knows!! And I love it. Never change Yuki!!
Fully agree on all the best looking cars. Really glad he didn’t leave out the Jordan that was stunning
Bring back the V-8/V-10
Jordans B&H ALTs like Bitten and Hissing with the snakes. Classic. The yellow was iconic

+1 for bringing back the V-10s!

Can't believe he forgot to mention the greatest racing driver India has ever produced: Mahaveer Raghunathan
Spot on with the best looking cars 👌🏻

I like these interviews, its good to engage the audiance with our questions and their thoughts
BRING BACK MALAYSIA GP!!!! That track is wide AF!
Karun great to hear from you talking F1 , totally agree with getting V10 engine back to F1 running on sustainable fuel ❤❤❤
Karun I agree on all cars, exactly my choices. Had chat with you at Goodwood FOS as my rally car on stage
Best looking car? Lotus 25 with Clark helmet. 2nd best? Yardley BRM P153 with Siffert helmet (he drove it in South African GP 1971.
Nicely done Karun 👍🏻 Totally agree on the two pit stop/ three tyre rule change. No brainer.
Great answers 👍. Especially sustainable fuels with proper engines.
I like Karun and agree with most of his opinions, but forcing every team to use three different tires would likely force every team to be on the same strategy. 86 JPS Lotus Renault. Best looking car ever
Yes I agree. Scrap the Hybrid power unit & bring back the V10 with sustainable fuels.
1966 Gurney Eagle. Hands down.
The race coverage is really good? Are you sure? Have you ever seen some of the multi viewer set ups?
The used to do driver briefings after races those were great!
The F1-75 is without doubt the best looking car of the ground-effect car. Those dished sideboards were almost se3ual 😍
My highlights of this video - 3 tyre compound race rule and sustainable fuel engines!! 🎉🎉🎉
Would love to have drivers speak to each other during the race
The 2 best looking cars of all time are the Lotus 79s, Mario won his 78 Championship in Black Beauty, and James Bond saved the world in 1977 with the Esprit S1.
As James comments, "What a handsome craft, such clean lines."
Best looking F1 car of all time is the 7-Up Jordan from the early 90s
Ferrari 412 any version. Not the quickest of cars but stunningly beautiful.
Would love to see Karun tackle Mt Panorama at Bathurst in a 90s Supercar !

Completely agree on the Ferrari 641 however, I assume Karun is talking about the 641/2 which had the more aero side pod inlets?
Looking forward to the Damon Hill AMA ;)
Said by absolutely no one ever in the history of mankind which dates back to approx 300,000 years ago.
Ferrari 125s comes close to the best looking car ever

2026 new regs courtesy Karun, No DRS, but you can jump over the car ahead if youre within 1 second of it xD xD
Love you karun!!

Great video :)
Karun is great

Love from india🇮🇳
>bring back V10s

I agree about going back to ICE power units .
No mention of Brazil Grand Prix post race press interview?
100% on the engines
Fully agree about second language - cut them some slack.
Sustainable fuels use a hell of a lot of land/water.
If F1 really wants to innovate, pour funds into induction charging and go full Scalextric.
5:28 V10 20,000 RPM. Yessssss!!!!!
2 stop races would be boring.
Currently some teams choose to 1 stop and that adds variety and suspense. If everyone was on a 2 stop you lose that
McLaren MP4-20 for me is the best looking F1 car.
THROTTLE and BRAKE POSITIONS on the live graphics please!

Top lad Karun. 👍
When did Karun become a journalist?
0:57 1:16 4:47 7:59
bring back the fia and pit wall comms for tv
Wondering how many points he got during his F1 stint. To be honest i don't even remember if he even finished a season, did he?, could be but don't remember him racing at all.
Best looking F1 car? Maserati 250F. Also happens to be the car which won races over the longest time span.
Anthony and Crofty should do this too
Anthony yes. Crofty would just waffle nonsense
The fact Crofty is charging people in Adelaide to listen to his bullshit is hilarious.
I can imagine him sending it on the mud 😂
