    So far I only have one of the 5 up. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe My son ran out of time, with motion detector etc. I have it over my garage door. It works great. Have seen a couple of cats, my dogs, when I am out front. And had a bee buzzing around right in front of it. It works very well. It even shows the neighbour's driveway, but only shows movement just past my own, which is very long. I highly recommend them.

    One of my neighbors has a floodlight separate from the camera. They also have one on the camera as well but either that is not working or the floodlight does pick up a longer distance so will pick up cars coming up the street. I have read reviews that a lot of these floodlights included with the cameras will go out so just left with a working camera.

    Good to hear about your experience with cameras not being stolen. We are doing the same thing. I was going to place a battery camera with a power cord near an existing light and thought, why not replace it with a motion flood camera option. instead.

    • @GeorgeLangabeer

      The Floodlight Cam is a great option in that case. A lot of people don’t realize, by the time you buy a weatherproof power cable, you’re almost at the same cost as the Floodlight Cam anyway.

    Nice video! have been watching a few of your videos lately and you’ve been a huge help with my decision making process so thx for that! Question for you. The light that you swapped out I assume had a switch to turn it off and on. Do you have to have the light switched to ON always for this nest floodlight? Or did you wire it to always be on? The thing I like about my current floodlight is that I can keep the floodlight on to light my backyard then switch it back to normal motion detection pretty easily. My floodlight has its own wall switch for odd and on. If i turn the light switch off does that mean the camera doesn’t work? I’m new to this and excuse me if I don’t know what I’m talking about lol. Hope you could help clarify! I’m sure someone else might have the same question here :)

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  2 года назад +3

      Yes, that camera is on a switch, so if you turn the switch off, the camera won’t work. But I found some light switch covers on Amazon that cover the switch so you don’t turn it off.

    Loved the video. I would like some clarification on how this light is controlled. You mentioned in a previous comment that the light requires constant power. (I hope in future models, they may give you two wire coming from the fixture. One for constant power to the camera, and one for the light.) My question is how is the light controlled? Is it strictly by motion? Is it a photocell? Both? Can you turn it on remotely by the app? I would love more information about how this light can turn on and off.

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  2 года назад +5

      It is activated on any type of event: motion, people, vehicles…whatever you set it to. Or you can turn it on manually in the app.

    Nice video. I gotta say, though, floodlights should be pointed pretty much directly towards the ground. You’re currently pointing them at your neighbors (I’m guessing). Lights pointed at the ground will still illuminate what you need illuminated.

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  10 месяцев назад

      In the situation here, the demo house backs to a golf course & the backyard is surrounded by trees. When it comes to security cameras you want as much of the approach to the house as possible, especially when you back up to a dark public area (like said golf course). You want to be proactive & see the person/thief approaching as soon as possible. So I disagree, lights pointed at the ground would not help in this case.

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  2 года назад +4

      It doesn’t. As I said in the video, normally you’d have the camera mounted higher, to prevent that from happening. Where I mounted it was the only spot I had available to do the demonstration. I’m really not sure why Nest designed it the way they did. It’s not ideal. They try to make up for it by saying they will replace it for free if it’s stolen. That’s nice of them & all, but it seems like it would have been easy for them to permanently attach the camera to the floodlight.

    I installed my Nest Cam with Floodlight a few years ago. It is hard wired through standard powered light over garage. I have an issue where the floodlight will not shut off all day, regardless of the setting. The camera works fine. I have reset the breaker and chatted with Google Support, and they say it has to be replaced as all other troubleshooting has been exhausted.

      That screw can be intense! Lol. Glad you got it loose. Google hasn’t said anything about leaving the light on constantly & I haven’t had anyone use it like that. So I can’t truly speak to a potential heat issue. But another concern would be shortening the life span of the lights (since you can’t replace them). DO NOT BUT THIS if you have an existing nest camera architecture. This light does NOT work with the nest app. Only usable in the Google home app which is garbage in comparison. So now I have 5 cameras and a doorbell in nest app and this one camera all alone in my Google app. What a waste of time and money!

      Sorry, you’re not a fan of The Google Home App, but I hate to tell you this, The Nest App will be gone before you know it. Google Home is the future of Nest Cameras.

      I’m not sure why that gets a “lolol”, because this video is not “paid for by Google”, not even close. If you watched any of my other videos, you’d know I’m an Apple guy. You’d also know It pains me to be a Google Nest guy, but I am because as far as Wi-Fi cameras go, they are my favorite. That’s the bottom line. I’m a security guy before I’m a salesman & if you watch my other videos, you’d know that.
      But hey, thanks for the comment & thanks for watching.

    Thx for the vid but when you're showing the screws, don't let your sausage fingers cover up the screws you're trying to show. Lol. Just whining. I figured it out.

      It’s an installation & set up video. You want me to cut out the installation & setup?
