    Thank you so much. These are answers I have been looking for for years! I am not overweight at all but still have near daily problems with binging. It happens in phases, but once a cycle is going it feels almost mindless and uncontrollable. It is really amazing to hear this perspective and it gives me hope that I will be able to break the cycle.

    I have lost the same weight over and over. In this ideration, I have lost 80 lbs and could lose 30 more. For years, I had no interest in eating at night/after dinner. My attitude was that I wasn't going to use much energy so didn't need more food. All of a sudden, I started eating after dinner. I think I heard that it wasn't good to go to bed hungry and bought into it. Now it's been next to impossible to stop. Crunchy foods like unsalted brown rice crackers are a good choice but, I will eat the whole package and then I'll have to have some avocado on them, etc. I will eat all this after filling up on a healthy, big dinner. It's as though I don't have stretch receptors. Now, I have made the decision not to buy them. I will go back to this video over and over to be reminded that there's a natural reason that I'm triggered to eat when full at night. The funniest thing you said is that some of us are actually triggered by being full. I have wondered that for years. Being full, is a trigger for me to binge, especially at night. Funny thing is that even if I don't cram at night, I'm not hungry in the morning. I'm never hungry in the morning. Noticing this has told me that wanting to eat after the evening meal is not true hunger. You have given me so much ability to save me from myself. Thanks for this talk, and thank you Gustavo, for the webinar. We love them.

    It's so interesting to see the parallels in our own lives with respect to this topic. I do want to note something that I have experienced. I think there's another aspect to this. It took years to quit cigarette cravings, until I decided I wanted to be healthy. Also, after decades of drinking up to 4 beers per night, I was suffering health issues, and decided to quit. It was trivially easy. No side affects whatsoever. Recently I became vegan, and even cheese was easily stopped. Also, I see this in terms of emotional cravings. I've had horrible times quitting friends who were toxic. Neediness as a kind of craving. Just observations. Very interesting topic.
    I want to add that the only way I could quit nicotine was to defer. Whenever I had a craving, I told myself I'd wait just ten minutes. I would put off having another cigarette, and very often I would forget I was craving.

    Dr. Lisle's tips and tricks are very helpful for me to be successful in my lifestyle change and health improvement. Thank you, hero Dr. Lisle! We stand on the shoulder of the giants who came before us, and Dr. Lisle is a giant. I am eating a personal loaf of homemade whole wheat bread (no oil). My weight and waist size is dropping! I intend on a low bodyfat percentage before a thorough strength training regimen, which will occur in a month or two. I still do some strength training while I lose weight.
    The temptation is a big piece for which Lisle helps to overcome. I have been lucky to have an isolated environment, controlling all food available in my home. When I do travel, there is temptation, but I prepare, and use psychological tricks to avoid the poison foods which make me look bad and do long and short term damage to me.

    I am fighting so hard to grit my teeth and get through the binge urges but it is a nightly war right now... I hope I can get to the 'happy' place soon... :(

      How did you do? Were you able to break the cram circuit habit? How long did it take you to get to the happy place? I am about to start fighting the war now.

    Anyone else considering how intermittent fasting could actually CAUSE a conditioned cram circuit? I see how IF could theoretically or inadvertently help someone out of a cram circuit, however, I've begun to wonder if fasting all day, many times resisting hunger and restricting the drive to eat, tends to increase my preoccupation with food throughout the day, then once the daily 4-6 hour 'eating window' comes around, I'm so fixated on and anticipating food that it actually makes the urge cram much stronger.
    Anyone had this experience? Perhaps a more balanced eating schedule throughout the day would lessen mental pressure and anxiety around the huge feeding window in the evening and there would be less of a drive to cram because the body and mind haven't been perceiving a shortage of calories all day long on a regular basis. Learning this and conceptualizing this pattern in this way, is a PROFOUND breakthrough for me!

      I heard the so-called "Israeli Commando" IF has a 4-hour feeding window, right before sleep time, so maybe the wisdom here is their crave-cram is also their only feeding, assuming this is true.

    I think this may be my problem. Although I eat healthy (WFPB) , I have a terrible habit of eating again, late in the evening, even though I'm not hungry. As a result, I cannot lose that last 20lbs. My weakness is dates, or anything sweet, even fruit. I suppose I will have to grit my teeth and get past the late night cravings until they go away. Has anyone here been successful in breaking this conditioning?

    More brilliant work, but I need more convincing the cram circuit necessarily came from our ancestors cramming meat specifically. I would be interested in seeing the research. (It seems it would be hard to prove something like that.).
    If they are basing off of observing modern hunter gatherer tribes, such tribes likely have more restricted geographical ranges compared to the Stone Age due to encroachment by large city-dwelling civilizations that have been around the past 10,000 years. The diets of modern hunter gatherers may not be representative of what existed in the Stone Age when there may have been lower population densities.
    Could the high caloric food have sometimes been nuts or other fat dense fruit (like avocados or durian) or even over-consumption of lower calorie foods ( like tubers)?

      If I understand correctly, the cram circuit comes not solely from cramming meat... it comes from cramming any food high in caloric density... like, honey for example or your examples of durian and avocados. Nuts are super labor intensive to crack open and eat, so it's not probable nuts would have been a cramming event.

      When you kill a big animal, you have to cram it, to use it while it's good. The whole tribe would partake. Taking down a dinosaur was a tribe effort and when it was gone, it was gone. Nuts and avocados would have the same effect if you could get enough of them at the same time. Understanding the theory and applying it to my life today helps me follow the Maximum Weight Loss Plan better. I know that in ancient times there weren't processed foods or refined flours but eliminating those will move me toward my needs. Knowing where it all came from is wonderful but, it still all comes down to eating more of the lower calorie dense foods. Have to stop kidding myself that my case is different or maybe what he's saying doesn't apply to me or, worse, that I can get away from 'just a little.'

    The "Upvotes" certainly dominate the "Downvotes". But I just don't get people downvoting, and not making a comment. To me it's discoureous. If anyone would comment on that, I'd appreciate it. Even though at present this video has over 13,000 views, I still don't get the few downvotes. In reading the comments, they are almost all positive.
