Great interview and it's easy to refer this video to my clients as he's a n MD. Been vegan several years now and I'm delighted to have found Dr Bernard and Dr Ornish and the many other highly advanced doctors, who see that Real Health involves people taking back their power. Educate not medicate :) should be part of all Medical training perhaps.
It would be refreshing to have a doctor like Dr. Barnard. The doctors and nurses at my healthcare provider are mostly overweight and when they see my blood pressure they usually comment, "I wish that was my blood pressure." This leads me to not trust them very much. I have been eating plant-based for 1 1/2 years. They consider that an oddity.
I love the way Dr. Barnard is so passionate about sharing his nutrition knowledge. Some doctors are great at their job but don’t know how to communicate and explain things in a way people would understand.

My in- laws have followed Dr Ornish's DASH diet for about 30 years and are now in their late 80s. One has hereditary high blood pressure, the other has heart disease. And yet, the DASH diet has been extremely helpful to both and continues to be.
What a beautiful explanation!! I to realized that moderation got me no where! Our evolution to exclusive plant based took years...after watching HOPE What you eat matters we dropped the last animal foods, whey protein (HaHa yes that was us worrying about getting enough protein!) and eggs! I can confirm it's super easy going vegan. It happened kind of naturally for me after having learned a lot from here and other channels. I had tried a lot before like cutting out sugars, gluten, dairy etc. but only all of those together with eating vegan really helped me. I still have a portion of fish every now and then but mainly for the vitamins and minerals. Still could probably replace it with non animal foods / supplements. Meat is like sugar and fat - when you stop eating it for a while you don't miss it at all.
My experience is that it's much easier for the patient to learn about his/her dietary needs than to teach an MD (most of whom believe they ALREADY know everything) that diet matters.
Dr Barnard you certainly have my vote, been plant based coming up 2 years now and never looked back. I still enjoy listening to you and others that Chuck has on the show, everyone is so knowledgeable. I was just recently diagnosed with H. Started plant based diet 5 days ago, already feel a nice difference. I have arterial blockages, leaky heart valve and thoracic aneurism over 5 centimeters. Surgery is upcoming soon. Hope this diet helps somewhat. Thank you for all your videos.

I LOVE THE DISH Is started cooking. I use 2 frozen broccoli 16 ounces each nd 2 cans of chick peas and vegetarian broth to cook it in I do it I n my copper chef on my induction plate. I do drink crystal lit fruit punch. I t makes a huge portion nd I eat it throughout the day. I pour the broth out in the colander for the broth that is left I tase mixed garlic minced onion and turmeric half tablespoon. It tastes delicious and I et that throughout the day/ It is satisfying and I adore it.
I have heart disease in my family. 6 years ago my granddad had a stroke and has been bound to a wheel chair in a nursey home ever since. The past days he has been very weak and the doctor says he might pass soon. 😪 (i dont live in US. I live in Sweden)
Best case scenario, physicians recommend patients to “decrease” intake of fat or eat it in “moderation”. I’m glad I started looking at the right sources before it was too late for me. I have no added fat and oil in my diet and don’t miss it at all. Food tastes much better without it.
There are healthy fats that are actually good for the body. I believe that you are being misled about eating fats. Check out what the Functional doctors have to say, who go into more detail on that subject. (Fats and Cholesterol often get a bad rap, too much misinformation on the news and internet.)

Yes Makes you wonder why people go down the unhealthy route. 🤔 Ignorance and not wanting to change food habits 😒. They get results on a high fat, protein diet and think that they're doing well but results are short term and will have negative impact on health in the long term.

Dr. Bernard and Chuck, could you please explain why the Masai folks in Kenya have relatively very low rates of heart disease, diabetes, etc. despite Meat and Cow Milk being their main source of nutrients? They live an ancestral lifestyle. No stress, they walk all day, their microbiome is used to the foods they eat. That is their evolution. And they consume no processed, man made food of any kind.

In my opinion, not enough is said about people who would benefit from gluten-free, lectin-free, even keto diets... or understanding healthy vs. unhealthy fats. But, I do like that Dr. Bernard is emphasizing that many unhealthy conditions can be reversed. We are not necessarily doomed to existence on prescribed drugs. Certain tests may also greatly help us in learning to tweak our diets further. Like taking a food allergy test.
I am taking medication to lower blood pressure and for my diabetes WHILE I am embarking on a vegan diet. Once I attain a reasonable weight (I know with me losing weight my bp normalises and diabetes goes way) but until I am at a safer weight, for my well being, I will take my meds

@@LeanAndMean44 totally useless. She was brain washed for 70yrs that we were meant to eat their flesh & their body parts are great for her body. It took me 2 whole months to get her to cut her meat intake to a week & only 50g each time. What i need is solid scientific evidence how bad they are for her arteries, preferably a study out of China.
Take tofu extra firm. Put it on the lip of a plate where water can run off. Put a plate on top and weight it down with a few cans. This presses the water out of the tofu. (You can google tofu press to see what the commercial ones look like). Let it drain for 30 minutes. Then dice it and freeze it. When you dethaw it will have a meatier texture. I make tofu scramble in place of eggs. I also use it in stir fry with sliced mushrooms. Sliced mushrooms taste meaty. For fish, there are some recipes called "Mock tuna salad" that use chick peas, etc. Tastes pretty good, just keep an eye on fat. I think it is also easy to serve chili, tacos, pastas, bean soup, bean burritos, vegetable soups, Asian stir fries with tofu etc where most people can do without meat than to try to serve some other types of meals where the meat would be very missed. Also love Jeff Novick bean burgers. Recipe is online for free. Yum. I make these up and freeze them. I also freeze my tofu scramble for easy fixing on work days. Before using, I put it in ziplock bags and then cut them open after frozen to put on a microwave plate to reheat. McDougal website has a lot of free recipes and some are delicious. Use spices too! For each meal I have 1 cup veggie soup, 1 side salad, one starch, and a main dish. I get so full I don't miss meat. Desert is cut fruit or fruit compote.An ai fryer helps too because then I can make sweet potato fries, regular fries, falafel--all without oils.
There’s so much conflicting information out there it makes me dizzy! Honestly, this is the only diet that makes sense! I’m 58 years old and have both high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Also, I had a body scan that showed a good degree of arterial calcification. I’ve eaten a Mediterranean/DASH diet for years and I still need medication. I’ve avoided going full blown vegan because I’m already skinny and don’t have a big appetite. Looks like I have no choice but to bite the bullet and get rid of the animal products all together. Wish me luck!!!!

I am 79 years old and a type 2 diabetic with high blood pressure. i became vegan 3 months ago eating only legumes, whole grains, vegetables and 1 or 2 fruits a day. i do not eat oils, fats, nuts, seeds, or avacado. My blood sugar has gone up, also blood pressure and have gained a few pounds. What could i possibly be doing wrong?
Keep a food diary of everything you put into your mouth for 2 weeks. Then talk to plant based dietitian. Also record time of day and estimate amount consumed.
In the 1950 the cure for diabetes was a two week carnivore diet. The next step was to stop eating bread, pasta, potatoes and rice and grain oils. Go to dietdoctor.com and read the science. Plant based diets work for many people but if you are carb intolerant the easy way to get insulin down is to stop eating carbs.
Have 1 cup of vegetable soup and 1 side salad of vegetables. Then divide up your dinner plate into 1/4 starch, and 1/4 beans and 1/2 steamed vegetables. Limit fruit to 1/2 cup per meal. You will lose weight and be very full. Key is vegetables and limit fruit and be reasonable with starch. Many older people (myself included) need only 1300 calories per day. Depends on your activity level. You can check out Dr. McDougal's website for free and he has great advice.
I just looked global dairy consumption and it shows india on top of the world consumption but their cancer incidence is no where near US or UK incidences. Is there a good answer for this? Anyone know the answer?
Basic statistics? India has a much higher population but if you looks at it per capita, the highest dairy consumers are European countries which also have the highest cancer rates.
It's ok to eat food that tastes sweet,or salty,or greasy but it's much better to eat food that you can actually savor without adding those other three ' helpers'. I just ate a microed sweet potato without any stuff added to it and enjoyed that taste a lot. This coming from a former salt and grease aholic. My sweet tater wasn't ' alive' when it entered the micro,it was already ' dead'(DOA). Microwaving edibles can actually preserve more nutrients than using other cooking methods like boiling and frying!
Speak to a dietitian who specializes in Kidney disease nutrition. I used Davita.com website to help my mom manage her kidney and diabetes. Loads of free info and recipes there. Hope this info helps you. 🙏

My thing is that as a vegan you should cook all your meals And never eat out or go to restaurants in this way you know what you get in and you can control your portion size that’s why I’m going vegan and I’m cooking all my meals I’m not going out I cook everything I eat and then I’m going to call my portion size if I wanna a small portion I can give myself a boy a small portion
How do you deal with individuals that state that dietary fats are eliminated through bowel movements and saturated fats and cholesterol are good for health and only refined carbohydrates and sugar cause heart disease? Also is the amount of heart disease deaths cited on the WHO website accurate? I had this argument this evening. It’s so frustrating.
I talk to everybody about Christ and Plant base. talk to your Pastor. ask if you can share a "life Style" video to congregation. Ask Holy Spirit...be loved. A lot of Christians shy away from this kind of thing because of the yoga, and meditation talk I think. I encourage to keep the baby, but throw out the bath water.
I am trying to eat as heart healthy as possible ( low cholesterol and low sat. fat foods ) and lower my A1C ( currently 5.8 ) to avoid creeping farther into the pre-diabetic range ..I have recently cut down on a lot of carbs and noticeably dropped weight. My doctor told me tomatoes and carrots are more nutrient rich when cooked lightly. In tomato lycopene is more concentrated in canned tomato (cooked tomato).
My blood pressure doesn't change no matter how much salt I consume.. Sometimes it goes lower with salt intake. My resting heart rate and blood pressure were lower eating vegetable based keto (high sodium, oil) than WFPB (no oil).
I have been WFPB vegan no oil, 30 gr fat/day, no/low salt for a year now. TC dropped, weight went from 68 to 60 kgs (170 cm height) and I really find it hard to keep weight. But I cannot drop my blood pressure pills. I have to take them to keep BP around 120/75. I do not know how long it will take. I have no trouble being vegan WFPB for life but I really would like to get rid of BP pills.

I am 81 years old. I have eaten a keto diet to control my type of reactive hypoglycemia. My HDL is now 66. My shit is now very soft. I do not lose weight on my diet. I still have to take vaso relaxers to control blood pressure. I have read that if you can lose weight with my diet your blood pressure normalizes. We have a disagreement. I am 81 years old. I had an autoimmune event in 1957 (see thriftygene.net no ads, no promotion). I have reactive hypoglycemia. In 1964 I took a glucose tolerance test. The *** specialist said I was prediabetic. He was very wrong. My blood sugar is slowing down but rising for 2 hours. The reason I took the test was that a smart doctor noticed that all the symptoms me and my wife described would be explained as very low blood sugar. I looked at the result of the test and determined that I was getting my symptoms 3 ½ hours after eating too much sugar/starch/alcohol. I modified my diet but not enough. About 17 years ago I put myself on a very low carb diet with the normal amount of fat. I started to gain weight so I cut the fat in my diet to the point that I lost weight. I now eat too many nuts and my weight has stabilized. About 3 years ago I figured out what was happening and wrote the web site thrifygene.net. I advertise with google (after 3 people identified as google read my web site and saw that it all made sense) to health care professionals. The reason most people lose weight on a low carb diet is the following. They eat enough protein so the excess is changed into ammonia. The body releases insulin to change ammonia into urea. When the insulin enters the blood stream the body does not know that it is only supposed to change ammonia into urea. It starts to change sugar into fat. The body releases Human Placental Lactogen to make it self temporarily insulin resistant which prevents very low blood sugar. You end up with a lower blood sugar than the body is comfortable with so the liver changes fat into sugar. The reaction sugar into fat and then fat into sugar is very energy intensive. You lose up to 1/3 the energy available. You raise your metabolism and lose weight. People with my gene are usually insulin resistant. We do not change sugar into fat. We do not raise our metabolism. We do not lose weight. --

Everyone keeps showing that same image of a blockage over and over again. Why don’t they show new ones? That can’t be the only image they have if it’s been proven that arteries can clear because of diet change. Can it?
Nutrition information should be part of every doctor visit. Doctors need more nutrition education in school and in continuing education. Even cardiologists do not provide enough nutrition education. That is just sad. Medicare needs to do more to encourage doctors to provide nutrition information and monitoring. Every person with heart disease or diabetes should be sent to a nutritionists for education and training so they can help themselves.

I think I was addicted to both toast bacon and eggs, I’ve been on the whole food plant based way of eating for just over 5 weeks, I really don’t crave them anymore, I’ve come down by 8lbs ☺️ I’m not saying lost as I don’t intend to find those pounds again 🤣😅😂 so if you don’t buy them you can’t eat them, that was my philosophy, Chef AJ says in the house in the mouth 🙈😱 so so true. The 1st thing i did when i quit smoking was to stop buying cigarettes. I did the same thing when i went whole food plant based. I simply stopped buying all the pricey craps and told my kids that i won’t buy it for them either. If they’re out w/ their friends, they’re free to eat whatever they can afford but in my house they’ll eat whatever i cook which are whole food plant based sugar & oil free.

So I have been trying to be vegan for two years. I just had all my blood checked. My cholesterol LDL triglycerides and c reactive protein was high. I eat no process food. Lots of veg's and some fruit. A little bake chicken quinoa salmon. I was eating french fries once a week. Not anymore. I'm baffled. Is their good beginner book easy to follow so to get basic daily nutrition needed for post menopausal woman ♀️ pls
I’m not sure how salt will harm you since a lot of southeast Asians have had salty fish everyday every meal. Japanese miso soup is the saltiest food I ever tried, and Japanese drink them like water everyday every meal. I guess the Japanese are in ultra hyper blood pressure all the time and all of them required blood pressure medication every meal.
@@happycook4247 I think most Southeast Asians were all in high salt diets before cancer was even a thing. They used salt to preserve fish and meats. If high salt intake leads to cancer, Japan wouldn’t be able to exist because they all died in cancer. All Southeast Asians would not come to existence either. They all have high salt diets in the past. High salt intake simply was part of their life. It sounds ridiculous to even avoid salt if you consider the high salt diets of the people live near the sea in the past.
“Plant-Rich” is a better more attractive marketing sales term and tool than “plant-based” Even “vegetarian” “vegan” “keto” “mediterranean” (a backlash term boycotting the tyranny of the fallen “holy” Roman Empire) etc suggest some pejorative “religious” “cultish” conversion instead of “Plant-Rich” which entices many “Americans” who are already addicted to consumerism. Go with the flow.
Good suggestion. I've used "plant-strong" for years but I like plant-rich, too! Maybe "strong" is best for the athletes and "rich" for the consumers. =) But you're right - encourage the positive rather than restrictive! Thanks!

I LOVE THE DISH Is started cooking. I use 2 frozen broccoli 16 ounces each nd 2 cans of chick peas and vegetarian broth to cook it in I do it I n my copper chef on my induction plate. I do drink crystal lit fruit punch. I t makes a huge portion nd I eat it throughout the day. I pour the broth out in the colander for the broth that is left I tase mixed garlic minced onion and turmeric half tablespoon. It tastes delicious and I et that throughout the day/ It is satisfying and I adore it.

I have heart disease in my family. 6 years ago my granddad had a stroke and has been bound to a wheel chair in a nursey home ever since. The past days he has been very weak and the doctor says he might pass soon. 😪 (i dont live in US. I live in Sweden)

Best case scenario, physicians recommend patients to “decrease” intake of fat or eat it in “moderation”. I’m glad I started looking at the right sources before it was too late for me. I have no added fat and oil in my diet and don’t miss it at all. Food tastes much better without it.
There are healthy fats that are actually good for the body. I believe that you are being misled about eating fats. Check out what the Functional doctors have to say, who go into more detail on that subject. (Fats and Cholesterol often get a bad rap, too much misinformation on the news and internet.)

Interesting that those in the Mediterranean diet have lower blood pressure ..must be the wonderful red wine that they drink with their meals...that helps them relax after a long day 😂
They eat lots of beans, vegetables, and salad from their own garden which they tend daily. The beneficial ingredient in wine is also in the grape.

Dr. Bernard and Chuck, could you please explain why the Masai folks in Kenya have relatively very low rates of heart disease, diabetes, etc. despite Meat and Cow Milk being their main source of nutrients? They are also very lean in nature with less Kg to carry around. I would really like to know why. Thank you
They live an ancestral lifestyle. No stress, they walk all day, their microbiome is used to the foods they eat. That is their evolution. And they consume no processed, man made food of any kind.

In my opinion, not enough is said about people who would benefit from gluten-free, lectin-free, even keto diets... or understanding healthy vs. unhealthy fats. But, I do like that Dr. Bernard is emphasizing that many unhealthy conditions can be reversed. We are not necessarily doomed to existence on prescribed drugs. Certain tests may also greatly help us in learning to tweak our diets further. Like taking a food allergy test.
I am taking medication to lower blood pressure and for my diabetes WHILE I am embarking on a vegan diet.
Once I attain a reasonable weight (I know with me losing weight my bp normalises and diabetes goes way) but until I am at a safer weight, for my well being, I will take my meds

I had a heart attack early in January from smoking and not eating healthy. I since quit smoking now for 45 days and only eat plant base foods. When is it safe to exercise and what is the best exercise to start with?
I used to smoke 2 packs a day for 15 yrs. then quit when i got pregnant 22 yrs ago. I was walking a lot back then and only started to eat wfpb sugar & oil free for the past 4 yrs.
I am in my 60s and have been 100% Plant Based for 7 years, I walk and do yoga and it works well for me.
Start with walking. Your cardiologist can suggest other types of exercise. Also put God first. Blessings.

@@LeanAndMean44 totally useless. She was brain washed for 70yrs that we were meant to eat their flesh & their body parts are great for her body. It took me 2 whole months to get her to cut her meat intake to a week & only 50g each time. What i need is solid scientific evidence how bad they are for her arteries, preferably a study out of China.
Take tofu extra firm. Put it on the lip of a plate where water can run off. Put a plate on top and weight it down with a few cans. This presses the water out of the tofu. (You can google tofu press to see what the commercial ones look like). Let it drain for 30 minutes. Then dice it and freeze it. When you dethaw it will have a meatier texture. I make tofu scramble in place of eggs. I also use it in stir fry with sliced mushrooms. Sliced mushrooms taste meaty. For fish, there are some recipes called "Mock tuna salad" that use chick peas, etc. Tastes pretty good, just keep an eye on fat. I think it is also easy to serve chili, tacos, pastas, bean soup, bean burritos, vegetable soups, Asian stir fries with tofu etc where most people can do without meat than to try to serve some other types of meals where the meat would be very missed. Also love Jeff Novick bean burgers. Recipe is online for free. Yum. I make these up and freeze them. I also freeze my tofu scramble for easy fixing on work days. Before using, I put it in ziplock bags and then cut them open after frozen to put on a microwave plate to reheat. McDougal website has a lot of free recipes and some are delicious. Use spices too! For each meal I have 1 cup veggie soup, 1 side salad, one starch, and a main dish. I get so full I don't miss meat. Desert is cut fruit or fruit compote.An ai fryer helps too because then I can make sweet potato fries, regular fries, falafel--all without oils.
Some leading Doctors indicate that what causes insulin resistance (what crowds the cells) is sugar, not fat, can you please elaborate?
There’s so much conflicting information out there it makes me dizzy! Honestly, this is the only diet that makes sense! I’m 58 years old and have both high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Also, I had a body scan that showed a good degree of arterial calcification. I’ve eaten a Mediterranean/DASH diet for years and I still need medication. I’ve avoided going full blown vegan because I’m already skinny and don’t have a big appetite. Looks like I have no choice but to bite the bullet and get rid of the animal products all together. Wish me luck!!!!

I am 79 years old and a type 2 diabetic with high blood pressure. i became vegan 3 months ago eating only legumes, whole grains, vegetables and 1 or 2 fruits a day. i do not eat oils, fats, nuts, seeds, or avacado. My blood sugar has gone up, also blood pressure and have gained a few pounds. What could i possibly be doing wrong?
Keep a food diary of everything you put into your mouth for 2 weeks. Then talk to plant based dietitian. Also record time of day and estimate amount consumed.
Look up mastering diabetes.
In the 1950 the cure for diabetes was a two week carnivore diet. The next step was to stop eating bread, pasta, potatoes and rice and grain oils. Go to dietdoctor.com and read the science.
Plant based diets work for many people but if you are carb intolerant the easy way to get insulin down is to stop eating carbs.
Have 1 cup of vegetable soup and 1 side salad of vegetables. Then divide up your dinner plate into 1/4 starch, and 1/4 beans and 1/2 steamed vegetables. Limit fruit to 1/2 cup per meal. You will lose weight and be very full. Key is vegetables and limit fruit and be reasonable with starch. Many older people (myself included) need only 1300 calories per day. Depends on your activity level. You can check out Dr. McDougal's website for free and he has great advice.
I just looked global dairy consumption and it shows india on top of the world consumption but their cancer incidence is no where near US or UK incidences. Is there a good answer for this? Anyone know the answer?
Basic statistics? India has a much higher population but if you looks at it per capita, the highest dairy consumers are European countries which also have the highest cancer rates.
It's ok to eat food that tastes sweet,or salty,or greasy but it's much better to eat food that you can actually savor without adding those other three ' helpers'. I just ate a microed sweet potato without any stuff added to it and enjoyed that taste a lot. This coming from a former salt and grease aholic. Microwaves arnt good kills the food
My sweet tater wasn't ' alive' when it entered the micro,it was already ' dead'(DOA). Microwaving edibles can actually preserve more nutrients than using other cooking methods like boiling and frying!
Please address at some time how a person with Chronic Kidney Disease can go WFPB. I'm trying....but everything has so much potassium!!
Speak to a dietitian who specializes in Kidney disease nutrition. I used Davita.com website to help my mom manage her kidney and diabetes. Loads of free info and recipes there. Hope this info helps you. 🙏

How do you deal with individuals that state that dietary fats are eliminated through bowel movements and saturated fats and cholesterol are good for health and only refined carbohydrates and sugar cause heart disease? Also is the amount of heart disease deaths cited on the WHO website accurate? I had this argument this evening. It’s so frustrating.

I talk to everybody about Christ and Plant base. talk to your Pastor. ask if you can share a "life Style" video to congregation. Ask Holy Spirit...be loved. A lot of Christians shy away from this kind of thing because of the yoga, and meditation talk I think. I encourage to keep the baby, but throw out the bath water.

I am trying to eat as heart healthy as possible ( low cholesterol and low sat. fat foods ) and lower my A1C ( currently 5.8 ) to avoid creeping farther into the pre-diabetic range ..I have recently cut down on a lot of carbs and noticeably dropped weight. My doctor told me tomatoes and carrots are more nutrient rich when cooked lightly. In tomato lycopene is more concentrated in canned tomato (cooked tomato).
My blood pressure doesn't change no matter how much salt I consume.. Sometimes it goes lower with salt intake. My resting heart rate and blood pressure were lower eating vegetable based keto (high sodium, oil) than WFPB (no oil).
I have been WFPB vegan no oil, 30 gr fat/day, no/low salt for a year now. TC dropped, weight went from 68 to 60 kgs (170 cm height) and I really find it hard to keep weight. But I cannot drop my blood pressure pills. I have to take them to keep BP around 120/75. I do not know how long it will take. I have no trouble being vegan WFPB for life but I really would like to get rid of BP pills.

I am 81 years old. I have eaten a keto diet to control my type of reactive hypoglycemia. My HDL is now 66. My shit is now very soft. I do not lose weight on my diet. I still have to take vaso relaxers to control blood pressure. I have read that if you can lose weight with my diet your blood pressure normalizes. We have a disagreement.
I am 81 years old. I had an autoimmune event in 1957 (see thriftygene.net no ads, no promotion). I have reactive hypoglycemia. In 1964 I took a glucose tolerance test. The *** specialist said I was prediabetic. He was very wrong. My blood sugar is slowing down but rising for 2 hours. The reason I took the test was that a smart doctor noticed that all the symptoms me and my wife described would be explained as very low blood sugar. I looked at the result of the test and determined that I was getting my symptoms 3 ½ hours after eating too much sugar/starch/alcohol. I modified my diet but not enough. About 17 years ago I put myself on a very low carb diet with the normal amount of fat. I started to gain weight so I cut the fat in my diet to the point that I lost weight. I now eat too many nuts and my weight has stabilized. About 3 years ago I figured out what was happening and wrote the web site thrifygene.net. I advertise with google (after 3 people identified as google read my web site and saw that it all made sense) to health care professionals. The reason most people lose weight on a low carb diet is the following. They eat enough protein so the excess is changed into ammonia. The body releases insulin to change ammonia into urea. When the insulin enters the blood stream the body does not know that it is only supposed to change ammonia into urea. It starts to change sugar into fat. The body releases Human Placental Lactogen to make it self temporarily insulin resistant which prevents very low blood sugar. You end up with a lower blood sugar than the body is comfortable with so the liver changes fat into sugar. The reaction sugar into fat and then fat into sugar is very energy intensive. You lose up to 1/3 the energy available. You raise your metabolism and lose weight. People with my gene are usually insulin resistant. We do not change sugar into fat. We do not raise our metabolism. We do not lose weight.

Everyone keeps showing that same image of a blockage over and over again. Why don’t they show new ones? That can’t be the only image they have if it’s been proven that arteries can clear because of diet change. Can it?
Nutrition information should be part of every doctor visit.
Doctors need more nutrition education in school and in continuing education.
Even cardiologists do not provide enough nutrition education. That is just sad.
Medicare needs to do more to encourage doctors to provide nutrition information and monitoring.
Every person with heart disease or diabetes should be sent to a nutritionists for education and training so they can help themselves.

I think I was addicted to both toast bacon and eggs, I’ve been on the whole food plant based way of eating for just over 5 weeks, I really don’t crave them anymore, I’ve come down by 8lbs ☺️ I’m not saying lost as I don’t intend to find those pounds again 🤣😅😂 so if you don’t buy them you can’t eat them, that was my philosophy, Chef AJ says in the house in the mouth 🙈😱 so so true. The 1st thing i did when i quit smoking was to stop buying cigarettes. I did the same thing when i went whole food plant based. I simply stopped buying all the pricey craps and told my kids that i won’t buy it for them either. If they’re out w/ their friends, they’re free to eat whatever they can afford but in my house they’ll eat whatever i cook which are whole food plant based sugar & oil free.

So I have been trying to be vegan for two years. I just had all my blood checked. My cholesterol LDL triglycerides and c reactive protein was high. I eat no process food. Lots of veg's and some fruit. A little bake chicken quinoa salmon. I was eating french fries once a week. Not anymore. I'm baffled. Is their good beginner book easy to follow so to get basic daily nutrition needed for post menopausal woman ♀️ pls

I’m not sure how salt will harm you since a lot of southeast Asians have had salty fish everyday every meal. Japanese miso soup is the saltiest food I ever tried, and Japanese drink them like water everyday every meal. I guess the Japanese are in ultra hyper blood pressure all the time and all of them required blood pressure medication every meal.
High salt diet can lead to stomach cancers. Japanese have a high rate of stomach cancers and the theory is due to excess salt.
@@happycook4247 I think most Southeast Asians were all in high salt diets before cancer was even a thing. They used salt to preserve fish and meats. If high salt intake leads to cancer, Japan wouldn’t be able to exist because they all died in cancer. All Southeast Asians would not come to existence either. They all have high salt diets in the past. High salt intake simply was part of their life. It sounds ridiculous to even avoid salt if you consider the high salt diets of the people live near the sea in the past.

is a better more attractive marketing sales term and tool than
“plant-based”
Even “vegetarian” “vegan” “keto” “mediterranean” (a backlash term boycotting the tyranny of the fallen “holy” Roman Empire) etc suggest some pejorative “religious” “cultish” conversion instead of “Plant-Rich” which entices many “Americans” who are already addicted to consumerism. Go with the flow.
Good suggestion. I've used "plant-strong" for years but I like plant-rich, too! Maybe "strong" is best for the athletes and "rich" for the consumers. =) But you're right - encourage the positive rather than restrictive! Thanks!
