Which Mr. Mister song should I react to next? God Bless!
"Broken Wings" is another great tune from the same album
broken wings, i actually had the chance to see them live in 1989 great show great music
I've just made my suggestion. Subscribed..
@@oreally8605 thank you for the sub and God Bless!
Did you ever react to another Mr. Mister song? :)
Latin - Kyrie - Lord - Eleison - Have Mercy
Lord Have Mercy on the road I must travel! Ruach is Hebrew for Wind, so he mentions :
The wind blows hard against this mountainside
Across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road
So he is being filled with the Holy Spirit.
The group got our generation into studying Latin, NT Greek, & Hebrew to understand this song!
This was released in 1985 in my Senior Year of High School, and I felt like the future was unfolding with this song, as I would graduate in 1986, and my feet would hit the road for college, and I KNEW Yahweh/God would be with me.
Song is as great today as it was 37 years ago! The entire "Welcome To The Real World" album is a treat to listen to!
I love this thank you for sharing I truly appreciate it! God bless!
86/87 this was a hit when I was in the army.......the song is actually a prayer for God's protection on your travels
I was in from 85-92.
You’re wrong on the release date! It was released in 1985! Because I still have this on cassette! When I purchased it that year!
@@karenmcgirr3987 85 not 92
Kyrie Eleison is ancient Greek: "Lord Have Mercy!" It comprises a penitential prayer in the traditional worship of Christians.
Love this background thank you very much! Is there a specific song you would like to me to react to next? God Bless!
@@gametchanger @Game t Changer Sure, who doesn't like Dust In the Wind, by Kansas? Like Kyrie, it has a hidden spiritual backstory, It clearly replicates the themes of the Book of Ecclesiastes, which seems to be an exercise in despair; but really is a profound exploration of the world in search of its redeemer. The beauty of the song is the proof that the search will resolve well after all. Bc who needs that much great art just to despair? Thank you, in any case.
It's also modern day Greek.
"Kyrie Eleison" is GREEK for CHRIST HAVE MERCY. This song is from around 1982. It is a prayer and was used in Greek Orthodox Church and then in Latin. It was thousands of years old. The singer-songwriter is Mr. Richard Page. Check out his song called " Take these broken wings". He is a Christian and still has many LPs out for solo work. He went on tour 34+ years later and played a concert tour with Ring Starr and his all-star band and actually sounded better! His voice is a real gift from God as well as the gift of music. Enjoy
When he sings "somewhere between the soul and soft machine" it's a double entendre - Soft Machine is an experimental avant-garde band formed in 1966 that took its name from a William S. Burroughs novel, "The Soft Machine"; the "soft machine" can also refer to the "body" ( of physical matter that acts like our "machine" in which we inhabit to move around in space) in contrast to the aforementioned "soul".
That is deep thank you so much for breaking this down and God Bless!
This is actually a Christian Rock song. We didn’t realize it back in the 80’s. I’m 61 yo so I lived thru the great 80’s.
Lord Have Mercy, is Kylie elasion in Greek. we say this in church. It's a prayer . He asking God to be with him on his path. They were mid 80s. I saw them live at Jones Beach. Fabulous show. Please listen to the newest Home Free doing Mary Do Yo Know. And they did one with Texas Hill, there version of Go Tell It On The Mountain. You will enjoy. Stay blessed
I was 17 in the 70s brilliant eara as well as the 80s this probably my favorite song ever
This is one of the greatest songs that's ever been written and performed. If not the greatest. Everytime I hear the song, I level up. No other song in the history of music has that effect for me. I just crushed a 200lb gripper when the music hit. I couldn't crush it before the music started. How do you explain that?
I'm really shocked that you were not already familiar with the Christian phrase kyrie elieson and it is pronounced "keer-ee--ay" by the way. The song was just about my favorite one when it came out in 1985.
Broken Wings by MrMister is a must listen as well. Had a very Christian message to it as well. They have a few good songs and a really great band with some great albums!
Already done make sure to check it out in my Mr Mister Playlist. God Bless!
I'm honestly quite surprised a Christian couldn't recognize a prayer when he heard one, because that's essentially what this whole song it. "Kyrie eleison = Lord have mercy". When you realize that soaring voice in the beginning is actually crying out to the Lord...this entire song rises to a whole new level. When I rise again on Judgement Day, that's exactly how my heart will sound as I cry out to Him. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the reaction!
The band's name is Mr. Mister, the singer is Richard Page. The producers of this video handed out minicams to the band members to do candid shots on tour and the resulting footage is most of what was used to splice together this video.
From the Greek "Kyrie eleison" - pronounced "KEER-ee-ay il-AY-iss-on", meaning "Lord, have mercy"
The lyrics are a prayer. They're literally saying "Lord have mercy down the road that I must travel. Lord have mercy through the darkness of the night. Lord have mercy where I'm going will you follow. Lord have mercy on a highway in the Light!"
Now go back and listen to the song again and I think you'll gain a whole new appreciation for this song that spent two week in the number 1 spot on the charts in 1985! ;-)
Yes !!! Lord Have Mercy !!!
Love this thank you so much for the breakdown and I think it's time for another reaction! God bless!
@@gametchanger isn't this something you should have known, being a Christian and all?
@@kathyg1660 I didn't grow up catholic and never heard the word before listening to this song. God Bless
@@kathyg1660...I am a Christian and all....I've always loved this song. Finding out 40 years later the words and meaning. They are Greek....that might explain it.
As a Christian, I'm sure you can now appreciate how powerful this song is, now that you know kyrie eleison means, Lord have mercy. It's possibly THE greatest Christian pop song, ever. Check out "Broken Wings" by the same band.
Awesome I'll definitely check it out. God Bless!
@@gametchanger healing waters by the group.
It's not a Christian pop song at all. Richard page the singer never wanted the title at all. He was roped into it by one of his band members. He said he never wanted to be stigmatised as a Christian band or anything like that. So no it's not a Christian pop song.
And broken wings is about the band doing hardcore drugs and partying and almost destroying themselves. The song was written after they decided to clean themselves up and it's about what they experienced and how they felt. Sheesh do some research.
@@wyomingpark Kyrie is all about the Lord and it was popular - unlike all impotent Christian band music. Hence - Christian pop. Broken Wings is just a cool song. Do some listening with your ears.
Lord, have mercy.
I've loved it when I first had it
My all time favorite song💗🙏
I heard this on my Satellite Radio on the way home so I had to look up some video's. One of my favorite back in the 80's. I was probably your age when this came out. Heavy drums were also thing in the 80's.
Catholics chant this every Mass. Kyrie Elaison, Christie Elaison, Kyrie Elaison. Translate from Latin Lord have Mercy, Christ have Mercy, Lord have Mercy. The y, i ,e, are all long e sounds.
Thank you for the info I appreciate it! I am not catholic just a Bible believing Christian so I had no clue. God Bless!
The song was released on November 27, 1985
god have mercy
A classic Mr Mister song 👌
I was an teenager when this song came out.
I absolutely love that song and it’s from 1985.
You should also listen to the song called Broken Wings also from Mr Mister 😁
The band was popular back in the mid 1980’s 1985 in particular
That's awesome and their music is still incredible. I recently reacted to Broken Wings and once the chorus came in I was like I know this song haha! God bless!
As someone who has studied Greek and Latin, and also frequently attends Sunday Mass, I've learned that "Kyrie" is pronounced "key-ree-eh," not "kay-ree," just FYI.
Album: Welcome to the Real World
Released: 1985
Artist: Mr. Mister
Genre: Classic Rock
The song & the video are back from 1985. Definitely a classic.
God bless you, Brother! Peace be with you!
May God Bless you too and thank you for the support! Is there a specific song you would like me to react to next? God Bless!
Original music video is in the description. God Bless!
1985 Is when this video came out
"Kyrie Eleison" is greek for "Lord Have Mercy on me." we sing to God and sometime the Holy Spirit sings to us through us or even a Rock Band like Mr.Mister. it's almost like a duet or a duo singing to each other The Holy Spirit is singing through Richard Page (the lead singer here of Mr.Mister) "will you follow me down the road that I must travel" is like Jesus saying pick up your cross and follow Me to his Bride The Church...and it could also mean a Christian seeking God guidance to go with me/us through" the Darkness of the night" (the valley of the shadow of death in "The Lord's Prayer"). some Christians call it or refer to it " THE (((DARK NIGHT))) OF THE SOUL". It is God that carries us like in the Poem "Foot Prints in the Sand" in "the Dark Night of the soul " and back into the Light..."I will never leave you nor forsake you..I'm with you always even to the end of the age," ~Jesus
Many comments here addressing Kyrie Eleason as Lord Have Mercy in Greek from the time of much of the writing of the New Testament. So too there are comments about the Wind blows hard against the mountainside, across the sea in my soul, where I cannot hide. Setting my feet upon the road…upon the path the Lord has set for me as a follower. Imagining growing old and what his life would mean…did he fill his life with purpose? When he sings about Kyrie eleason down the road that I must travel, will you follow you assume that as a pop song he is speaking about a lover and talk about the importance of a spouse being willing to follow…I kept thinking, “wait until he finds the ‘who’ he really means to have follow him (be with him) on the chosen path.
Others talk about listening to Mr. Mister “Broken Wings”. Now that you know about the beliefs and motivations of Mr. Mister lyrics, I would be interested in what you think of the lyrics of that song mean given this context.
Lastly, you wanted to know if they are still around today. Follow up…Richard Page, the lead singer went on in the 90’s to produce contemporary Christian music.
He is talking to God.
and it still sounds fresh and rocks as well. A real toe tapper for sure. Lord have mercy on whatever we do and wherever go.
They were great live...
Kyrie, the vocative case of the Greek word kyrios (“lord”). The word Kyrie is used in the Septuagint, the earliest Greek translation of the Old Testament, to translate the Hebrew word Yahweh. In the New Testament, Kyrie is the title given to Christ, as in Philippians 2:11.
The way they pronounce "Kyrie" is the proper pronunciation. Kyrie Eleison means "Lord Have Mercy" in Greek and used in prayer in ith Catholic and Orthodox churches.
Another song you might like and appreciate is Yah Mo Be There by James Ingram and Michael McDonald.
How about Jeremy Camp "Out of my hands." True as can be. Fellow Christian here... Subscribed....
Awesome I'll definitely add it to the list. Lobe Jeremy Camp. God Bless!
Fine reaction! 🙂What other song should you react to? Well the answer is easy - every single one! Check out the band "Pages" also, the pre-Mr. Mister. So much good music here!

Lyrics
… Kyrie eleison
Kyrie eleison
Kyrie elei
… The wind blows hard against this mountainside
Across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road
… My heart is old, it holds my memories
My body burns a gem-like flame
Somewhere between the soul and soft machine
Is where I find myself again
… Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow?
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the night
… When I was young, I thought of growing old
Of what my life would mean to me
Would I have followed down my chosen road
Or only wished what I could be?
… Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow?
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the night
… Whoa-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh
… Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow?
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the night
… Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel (Kyrie, will you follow?)
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night (yeah)
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow? (Will you follow?)
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the night
… Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow? (Will you follow?)
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the light
… Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel (Will you follow?)
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow? (Will you follow?)
Love this thank you so much for posting the lyrics and God Bless!

Its Latin for God have mercy. Part of the old Latin mass. Sorry I can't spell Christ have mercy
Not dated by any means. Timeless, for sure. If music had progressed in theory or complexity, then it would be dated. Kyrie Eleison "Lord Have Mercy".
You should react to creature by half alive it’s really good!
Awesome I'll definitely add this to the list. God Bless!
Pronounced Kiree' aay or something similar to that
Wonderful reaction video!!!Yes...this song is so spiritual and great...very rare from a secular band!!!Another one by the same band is "Healing Waters"...ruclips.net/video/lyyqqT0C6o0/видео.html
Greetings from Puerto Rico!Blessings!
Your reaction is right on target, but too many needless interruptions make it difficult to get the most out of the music. I have listened to many reactors regarding this song, and they all mis pronounce KYRIE. Must be a lot more Basketball fans out there than Catholics. Otherwise, well done!
Gosh dude how did you not research what it meant…it’s a prayer bro
First time reaction I try to go in as authentic as possible. God Bless
Yes, then slowly try to put together what you're listening to. Research can be done afterwards to see if what he's picked up on is what the song is actually is about. Either way is totally ok, TO EACH THEIR OWN in the spirit of peace and love❤
Dude...so many pauses.
Billy squier "the stroke"
Too many stops! Let the song run, and comment at the end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Couldn't take any more after 3 minutes...
It's my style of reacting. If you don't like it there are plenty of other reactors. God Bless
@@gametchanger I know that. I was expecting a good one for this song. There are plenty more that I watch that don't stop the vid every few seconds. Stopping as you do, you never catch the flow of the song...
You pause too much and at the wrong points. Jus' sayin'.
Thanks for the feedback I truly appreciate it. This reaction was almost 2 years ago I believe so I'm hoping I'm improving. Is there a Mr. Mister video you'd like me to react to? God bless!
Why do you keep on pausing it every minute or so ??!! It's so annoying..
It's a reaction and I like to talk about the song. God Bless
