It’s rare to find a cover that holds up equally to the original. Musically, this band is always good, but what impresses me is the ability to find vocalists who possess distinctive commercial voices. Vocally this is stellar.

FUN FACTS ABOUT THIS SONG MOST PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW: "Kyrie Eleison" is Greek for "Lord, have mercy." It is used as a prayer in both Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox services. Greek was the original language of the New Testament and it was later translated in to Latin. When this was a hit, very few people listening to Top 40 radio had any idea that they were singing "Lord Have Mercy, Down the Road that I must travel!" The religious significance was mostly lost. IN OTHERWORDS, most people thought it was about a girl named Kyrie or Carrie just the name was being miss-pronounced.

These words when spoken are done towards the beginning of the Mass..Where the priest recites it first then the congregation repeats it. It’s part of the penitential act ..Greek or English is used during this part..Mostly English though.

I played in bands for 40+ years. There is a talent in capturing both the main song and the nuances that make a song great. THESE GUYS (AND GIRLS) GET IT!! Being a musician doesn't have to mean playing a million notes. The pros do whatever is necessary to make the song great. The clips posted by this group constantly surprise and amaze. Thanks to HSCC for providing some wonderful relief during this time.

So I'm commenting on this 2 years later, but... This is one of my favorite all time songs. For a cover, they nailed it! Watched the HSCC video the other night, Nothing is Gonna Stop us Now by Starship. So so good. I about lost my mind. The vocals were incredible as was the rest of the band.

I heard Mr Mr in 1985 when I was 13 years old and they seemed a shit. After hearing this recording I changed my mind about Mr Mr and listen again at my 51.
What a song, Kyrie! What recording! The sound of the voice and the backing voices is sublime. Same with the sound of the synthesizer.

it´s sooooo hard to play this. Mr MISTER were the best studio Band in the US to a degree and to play this ..... BRAVO.
I saw Mr. MISTER live in the 80s at an outdoor arena and it started raining. They kept playing and were amazing....thanks for this awesome cover and bringing back a great memory for me. You guys are an incredible band and you nailed this

Firstly I want to say Mr. Mister lead singer Richard Page would be very proud, well done guys! In my opinion Page had one of the top three best 80's lead vocals. Everything was excellent, except in the 80's as I recall the keyboards had a lot more HEAVY pounding abrasive in your face sound than you recorded on this excellent cover. Please listen to other Mr. Mister songs so to see what I mean, and then HAMMER and POUND up the keyboards when you play this live. You guys are absolutely wonderful, I love everything that you record, all of my favorite songs from the past. Huge long time Doobie Brother fan since 1971. You are the very best cover band in all the world. Your sound engineer should be given the Aussie Victoria Cross for his excellence. Please go to google images and type in RED ROCKS COLORADO, and then come and tour the USA and please make sure RED ROCKS COLORADO is on the schedule, the most beautiful outdoor venue on God's earth. Reminds me of my time in Catholic high school. :-) Back then the Mass was recited in Latin...much more fun cause we didn't know what it meant.
Excellent playing, vocals, production and engineering, so much so that I actually prefer this performance to the original. That said the genius always remains with the writers of the song Richard Page, Steve George and John Lang for providing such great material!

I never realized that this song is basically a prayer, and I play Kyrie Eleison as the Penitential Rite at Mass especially during Advent. Prayers come in different forms. Pretty cool.

I didn't realize it either back when this became a radio hit. In later years I came across singers recreating a Gregorian chant that used those words. It had a very low and serious tone though, lacking all the brightness and upliftment in this modern version.

Unbelievable- I have a 31 yo daughter named “Kyriae” , obviously naked after this song. I was fortunate enough to take her to see Ringo Star all Star Band a few years back which included Richard Page and they played this song. Great song and amazing cover by you guys. Thank you so much for all these videos and I hoped all the watchers are going to go see them perform live. I’ll be bringing Kyriae along with a dozen others. Song choice is amazing. You don’t pick the obvious covers. Not many try this song and The Baby’s ISNT IT TIME.

Just fyi: "Kyrie" is the vacative case of the noun "Kyrios",which is the male form of "Master" or "Lord" in ancient Greek and means literally "Mister" in modern Greek.
So,your daughter is named "hey mister",if you translate it roughly in modern day Greek.
("Kyria" without the "e" would be the female form of "Lady" or "Misses")
