The words Kyrie Eleison, translate to “God have mercy”. He was quite literally pronouncing a blessing over these young people. A prayer, if you will. For God’s protection. And God’s mercy. Richard, Page and most of the guys of the band are believers. I wonder if anyone in the audience realized what was happening. Incredible.
@@djbowler3333 I can only imagine the lives that were potentially changed because of this man’s boldness. I thank God for him. Truly a man of prayer and faith. Something that is sadly missing today with so many men.
tracye shannon How the hell you go from listening to good music like mister, mister kyrie to 5 billion dead .Oh yeah we live in a dark world which most will not make it out alive..
tracye shannon are you fer serious?? That’s sooo awesome. So it’s more than just a RUclips vid? Lol. What was the real life experience like in the flesh???
It was a beautiful time when music was so alive...a time when youth and generation join hands in hands to celebrate life and not about cell phones, internet and terrorism...it really is the end of the innocence!
for those who dont know "kyrie eleison" is greek for "Lord, have mercy" when this song first came out millions of people had no idea they were singing "Lord, have mercy down the road that I must travel" awesome!!!!!
One of the many great and underated bands from the 80's. Great song. Page's voice is amazing. All of this guys were incredible studio musicians when they release this album. The 80's were the last decade of great music. After that, everything went downhill.
Love that majestic keyboard intro!!! Wow, didn't realize how well these guys could really hold their own as a live act! I was just a little kid when they were at their peak, too young to appreciate em. Would love for them to reunite WITH Steve Farris!
i was born 1978 and grew up listening 80's music, mr. mister, toto, chicago, tears for fears, heart, the police & some pure new wave songs from different groups that came out, music today is no longer as artistic as it was during this era.
Like Tears for Fears these guys were so overplayed on the radio & MTV at the time people seemed to forget what great singers, songwriters & perfomers they were. Compared to the pathetic corporate computer-corrected sludge that passes for music nowadays throwing on a Mr. Mr, or TFF CD on sounds like a breath of fresh air, the 80's still rule in my book, the recording equipment & standard of mixing & production was finally able to capture the essence of a kick ass rock band.
I remember I got "Welcome to the Real World" on cassette for Christmas 1985 (fifth grade!) - I listened to it over and over and over until I wore it out. Really fine group of musicians - Mr. Mister has been truly missed by me!
I recently heard this song in my dream. Everyone was singing it. Good and terrible voices joined in lol. “Lord have mercy” And HE fully intends to. Side note: The 80s was the apex of music.
"Kyrie" was a #1 hit song by the 1980s pop/rock band Mr. Mister, from their 1985 album Welcome to the Real World. (Kyrie Eleison, is Greek translation for "Lord have mercy"). Released in late 1985, it hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in March 1986, where it was #1 for two weeks. Mr. Mister is an American pop rock band most popular in the 1980s. The band's name came from an inside joke about a Weather Report album called Mr. Gone where they referred to each other as "Mister This" or "Mister That", and eventually selected "Mr. Mister." Mr. Mister may be considered as representative of the melodic sound of 1980s pop rock. The band consisted of Richard Page on vocals and bass guitar, Steve George on keyboards, Pat Mastelotto on acoustic and electronic drums and Steve Farris on guitars.
I remember singing this song when I was a kid and my dad asked if I knew what Kyrie Eleison mean and I said no and then he said that it was the Greek term for Lord Have Mercy and I thought that was the coolest thing.
Page, Perry, Mercury, Van Halen, etc.........., man, the 70's and 80's gave us our greatest vocalists of all time. PERIOD! Nobody can sing like them any more nowadays.
Its funny that you said "nobody can sing like them any more"" because I immediately thought of Chris Cornell (that's a line from Black Hole Sun!), he sits in that company very easily for my money.

@MajCinematic Pull is the 4th album by Mr. Mister. It was recorded back in 1989 I think and was never officially released until 2010. Check it out, it's great :) There was a Pull bootleg circulating the web and what not else for about 20 years until this official release. I uploaded that bootleg so feel free to check that also :)
Richard playing a gorgeous 5-string Yamaha BB5000 here, and he gets a little lost during the first chorus! Think he forgets he's got a low B, but he goes back to starting the 2nd chorus on the C on the A string, just to be on the safe side! Wish I had that bass. Nice tight string spacing, and fantastic tone.
@@DangerousDrummerDado I actually built a couple of my own; a 4-string Jazz body from Guitarbuild with normal Fender neck heel, got a neck made with a 45mm nut width, and a Schaller 2000 bridge to bring the spacing down to 15mm. Might be a bit tight for some, but I get zero fatigue at gigs. I also put in two Kent Armstrong Claymores (each wired to a mini switch for 3-way coil tap), and a Bass Mods 35AP 3-band preamp. Honestly fills any tonal need in any band situation I've been in.
dont think the audience would've appreciated what they watched. Only when they look back and compare it to todays music will they get how lucky they were
Hey! This was Belinda Carlisle's first solo show. If anyone has a link or knows how to get a hold of her set, please reply or send it to her "verified" Facebook page. Long story but she'd really like to have it. We can send out some sort of reward or compensation! Thanks!
Just an FYI their latest album "Pull" has some GREAT songs on it, not as commercial as back then but these guys have really kept their chops, if you are a real fan get it, I believe it's only available for download but I may be wrong. Nowadays real musicians like this can't even get a record contract, and we wonder why today's music stinks.

Todays mainstream lost much of quality and it´s only still a kind of >>making fast money. I´ve never listened to a song of 2007 f.e. on the radio. But 80´s are still modern. I´m 16 and I allways live in trend, but when i started making music, i recognized that 80´s music had much more quality and power than todays mainstream.
Just my two cents worth, from the mid 90's downward real musicians! Now listen carefully to the song of today. Half of the musicians today use a pc or Mac and soft synth, with just a keyboard controller. unlike before people use synthesizer's and play live! only live players buy the best keyboards today like Kurzweil PC3K or any kind of Korg Kronos from the 1st. generation to the 2nd.... and some singers use auto tune! I would rather use real hardware than software. you can use your skills rather than rely on the pc or Mac and not learn to play the keyboard. Peace everyone!

Toto ia still touring after 40+ years and they are ridiculously good, out of this world 😉
this is weak, there are much better versions of Kyrie on U tube, this song is meant to be played loud

That was one awesome band! Richard Page's voice is unreal!
Exactly!

Richard Page got a voice in its own class, dig this one ruclips.net/video/Loug_V6twWA/видео.html some 4 years before Kyrie.
He was, and is, handsome and gifted. One of the true and real musicians left.

If only we knew how good we had it in the 80's.

Definitely a classic from Mr. Mister. I would listen to this song over and over again back in the day. Nothing beats the 80s.
