The title of the song is "Kyrie" (KEE-ree-yay), the phrase he's saying is "Kyrie Eleison" (KEE-ree-yay ee-LAY-ee-sohn) which is Greek and translates to "Lord, have mercy". The song is a prayer. "Lord have mercy down the road that I must travel. Lord have mercy through the darkness of the night. Lord have mercy where I'm going will you follow? Lord have mercy on a highway in the Light"
A great 80's song that doesn't get the play it deserves is "Don't Fight It" by Kenny Loggins and Steve Perry

Mr. Mister's entire debut album, Welcome To the Real World, is fantastic! Still one my favorite 80s albums, along with The Outfield's Play Deep.

This song means so much to me. I added it to my iPod just before my senior trip to Europe, and found myself singing it on the motor coach as we were driving along the French Mediterranean coast. When my classmates heard me singing it, they insisted I plug my iPod into the bus’s PA system, and when I did, the whole bus sang along to the song. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky that day, the sea was sapphire blue, and we did not have a care in the world as we travelled in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. This is one of my favourite memories of high school, and this song never fails to bring a smile to my face, sometimes with happy tears as I remember the greatest trip I have ever taken. Thank you for reacting to this song, and I’m glad you love it as much as I do! 😊

The song title is: Kyrie eleison (“Lord, have mercy”). It's a Greek phrase apparently. Their first single Broken Wings was a US No.1, and is a masterpiece...

I’m guessing Derek isn’t a Catholic. We still sing Kyrie eleison and also Christi eleison during the liturgy. It’s part of the Penitential Acts, after the Greeting and before the Gloria.

Richard Page is considered something of a backing vocal god within the music industry. You hear him on all kinds of albums across the late 70's through the 90's. My favorite thing he's been involved with is the band Pages, which produced three albums of killer Steely Dan-esque yacht rock before he ended up forming Mr. Mister.

From the Greek "Kyrie eleison" - pronounced "KEER-ee-ay il-AY-iss-on", meaning "Lord, have mercy"
The lyrics are a prayer. They're literally saying "Lord have mercy down the road that I must travel. Lord have mercy through the darkness of the night. Lord have mercy where I'm going will you follow. Lord have mercy on a highway in the Light!"

Kyrie Eleison is Latin for Lord Have Mercy. It’s like a musical prayer to God.

I love this group and all their albums are stellar. I agree "Broken Wings" must definitely be reacted to, but they have another song called "Hunters Of The Night" which is a killer song and my favorite of theirs. I think it is worth checking out. Oh, and the lead singer's name is Richard Page. Great voice!

Latin - Kyrie - Lord - Eleison - Have Mercy
Lord Have Mercy on the road I must travel! Ruach is Hebrew for Wind, so he mentions:
The wind blows hard against this mountainside
Across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road
So he is being filled with the Holy Spirit.
The group got our generation into studying Latin, NT Greek, & Hebrew to understand this song!
This was released in 1985 in my Senior Year of High School, and I felt like the future was unfolding with this song, as I would graduate in 1986, and my feet would hit the road for college, and I KNEW Yahweh/God would be with me.
Song is as great today as it was 38 years ago! The entire "Welcome To The Real World" album is a treat to listen to!
