I went to my local Asian grocery store, and they had Thai basil!! So, I made this tonight for my mom, (without the 🌶) and she loved it! I did a well. My mother has incurable cancer and I’m afraid of her losing weight. One huge reason I love this channel! She loves Asian food and I can make it healthy. Thank you so much, Ling! Your videos are always wonderful. Stay well!
That’s so sweet of you taking care of your mom. So sorry to hear she’s ill. Please give my best regards to her!
ChineseHealthyCook I will do! I am a nurse and since I’m her son, I find it only fitting to take care of her since she took special care of me until I was 19 years old. I’ll send my best, and thank you!
Years ago, I worked with a sweet lady from Thailand, and she taught me this recipe. It has been one of my favorites ever since! I love Thai basil! It has a distinct flavor and doesn't taste the same as sweet basil. I can only find it in an Asian market.
Thank you for this video! I will have to cook some now!
I also asked my friend from Thailand for tips, and she said her mom also adds cilantro stems. Enjoy 😊
I love every dish that you make. You always add one ingredient that rarely others add to their dish and that is why your dishes taste so good. And that one special ingredient is:
LOVE
Awe, it’s very kind of you! As I said in “About” on my channel, “If you cook with love and fresh ingredients, it will reflect in your dishes” 😊
looks fantastic!!
For my viewers in US, have a wonderful and safe Labor Day weekend! It’s time to take a break and treat yourself 🤗 💕
Hi, love your recipes and channel. For this dish. Can I use the Italian basil, got do much growing in my back yard.
Lola, the 2 basils taste very different. I would use the Thai basil if I could find it. I can only find it in Asian markets though.
I see you are using very little amount of soya sauce compared to other recipe of the same dish found on you tube. Is there any specific reason? I want to know if there is any side effects of soya sauce
One of my favorite dishes
Looks delicious
Looks really good! Will sure give it a try!
😊😊
I love your videos. I’m glad that you are a bit more subtle with your flavors, yet you obviously love spicy food. Alway a great balance.
I don’t eat as spicy as I used to back in Sichuan. Thank you 😊
I love dis recipe , very Nice , you ar very good.
Truly one of favorite dishes. Thanks Ling.
Mine too apparently 😊
Looks delicious. Will try tonight.
Please let me know how it turns out. Thank you, John 😊
I love the simplicity of your dishes. So very achievable for even beginners in the kitchen. And so wonderful to know exactly what's going in to the dish!
Thank you for loving! Enjoy cooking 😊

Made it last night. The kids could not get enough. Simply delicious. Thank you so much.
So happy the kids loved it 😊How spicy did you make? Thank you!
I followed your direction. Came out perfect and delicious. Thank you so much. We liked the heat of the recipe. Just wonderful.
👏👏
I love basil chicken! I have a slightly different recipe that I use though. But the last time I made it, the store was completely out of basil! So my wife bought a package of baby spinach to use instead, and, it worked! The fun thing about stir fry cooking, is that you can be very creative, once you learn the proper techniques.
Next time I make basil chicken, I will try your recipe!
Yes, cooking is all about creative and make to your own liking. Enjoy 😊
👏👏👏 I have never had Thai Basil before but jasmine rice is my favorite by far.
Please try, Ronnie 😊
@@ChineseHealthyCookWill do. I'll see if they have any at the Asian market when I go Sunday.
Guys you have to try it’s so delicious!! Ling I love you
One of my favorites too. Thank you 😊
This looks just like the Thai basil at my local Thai restaurant. All the other recipes I saw on RUclips looked very dark and kind of sticky but this looks fresh and light.
Thank you! Please try. So delicious 😋
Looks good. I don't have access to Thai basil, but I have regular basil growing in the herb garden. I'll have to substitute.
Enjoy 😊
Thank you Ling......😎🙏👍
Thank you 😊
@@ChineseHealthyCook you're welcome. 😎✌
My girl!!!! Hey Ling!!
☺️ ☺️
Just got some basil too. Making this tomorrow or Friday!! 😋
Gracias por compartir.
Gracias 😊
In this video i could see the way you work with the heat. Thank you
Thank you 😊
THANKYOU
Thank you 😊
Can you make a suggestion for a substitute of the fish sauce as I can’t have it? This looks amazing and I have had it before and would love to try and make it.
You may try soy sauce. Enjoy 😊
Hi Ling. Nice dish. I hope to try it someday. If you may remember I was researching on various rices. I've decided to stick with long grain as it's easier to stir fry. Jasmine wasn't that bad but long grain rice will be my choice for all my Chinese Home Cooking. Wok with me Ling. Thank you.
Jasmine rice has a long grain although not as long as basmati rice. Hope you will try the fish too 😊
@@ChineseHealthyCook Ling, I prefer loose grains cuz it's easier to cook even though I had fun using Jasmine. I found basmati too light so I'm sticking with regular long grain rice. I do plan to ask the manager what type of rice they use and hoping he can give me a sample so I can try at home.
The only ingredients i don't have is the basil. Might hit the market this noon so i can make this ASAP 💖💖
It’s worth trying. Enjoy 😊
Ling, this is my first notice of your title; “Cooking with Ling.” It sounds friendly & more personal, I like it very much. Apologies, if I failed to notice it as an earlier title. I always enjoy your posts Ling.
You are the second viewer mentioning it. I didn’t announce it since I didn’t change my user name, Chinesehealthycook. Many viewers know my channel by that name and would not be a good idea to move away completely. Yes, I thought it would be personable to add another title. Thank you 😊
I absolutely love your simple/delicious recipes
Thank you! Enjoy 😊
May I ask what brand of Chef's knife you are using? It looks very similar to my vintage Oxford Hall Cutlery knife.
Emojoy set I have a link for in the description box, not as heavy as my Martha Stewart set.
adding some basil at the beginning with chili and garlic is something I hadn't seen before, does it impart a lot of extra flavour into the cooking over just adding it at the end of the cook?
Yes, it infuses the oil and flavors the chicken. Enjoy 😊
Hi.
How u cooping with corona in your area and what u been up to these days.
Im in nsw in Australia its so bad here all borders closed people hoarding up again etc. Your videos I always watch and admire alot during this covid thing.
Love the intro music what's the name of it
Hope your well.
Starting last week, dine-in is allowed with 25% capacity in my area but I prefer takeout. Yes, we still need to practice social distancing. Stay safe!
ñami 😋
Great episode. I love Thai flavors. One suggestion for an episode/theme is "Q&A with Ling", or something similar to show "behind the scenes". Who's the cameraman that sneezed? How do you plan your groceries/menu before the show? Do you have assistants? Who edits your videos? How/when you started your RUclips channel? I'm sure your viewers would be happy to see what's behind the camera. Keep on cooking Ling!
Yes, Q&A episode or live stream sounds good. Thank you, Ericson 😊
Hi !...I just want to know how do you cook jasmine rice ?...Thanks mi dama !
Please check my rice cooking video. It cooks the same way but Jasmine rice may need a bit more water than regular white rice ruclips.net/video/sNscVcGBTeg/видео.html
My good friend hmakes this as his favorite Thai dish and he makes it with Holy Basil instead of Thai Basil.
Holy basil sounds good too 👍
❤
Can you suggest some good brand jasmine rice for us? We live in Australia
Asian best that has a picture of the one elephant is always good .
I used to buy Elephant brand(s). Enjoy 😊
Oh my god, I usually just stored Thai Basil in the fridge and raced to use it all before it wilted, now I will store it in a glass with water.
It lasts longer in water, mine over 2 weeks 😊
Nice dress (and figure) 😍. Also I like thai lemon grass and thai green curry flavors, kind of fragrant light and refreshing dishes. Almond powder would be too expensive I'll stick to corn starch and baking soda.
It is a blouse ☺️ I’d like to try almond powder.
Is there a substitute for potato starch??
As I mentioned, I was recommended to almond powder and also heard about arrowroot flour. You can also skip it 😊
Cornstarch works the same.
Why do you cut with the grain?
Chicken breast meat is different from other meats. It doesn’t have uniform grain. Cutting against grain may make it too tender. Although I cut with the grain, it is on the bias 😊
Is this Chinese food or Thai Food ? because it has thai basil🥺🥺🥺
This is Thai food. I often buy Thai basil and love it 😊
hey ling can i have a bite, so yum😁😂😄👍💕
Please try to make it 😋
DELICIOUS! Warning to anyone else trying this recipe with dried chili peppers - WEAR A MASK! 🤧
Good tip 😆
hi
This recipe Thais always use Holy Basil (Ga Proa) not Thai basil
Thank you, although Thai basil is easier to get.
