In the upcoming episodes, I’ll be cooking with friends! Can’t wait for you to see me cook with Harry Shum Jr in the next one :)
Also my new movie "Love Hard" is on Netflix now! A super rom com featuring Nina Dobrev, Darren Barnet, and Harry Shum Jr!

It’s a blessing that there’s a comedian with a cook show!
OR a chef who also does comedy on the side
@@LowballJim facts my dude. Btw big fan😁. Thanks for replying!!

Happy to be back! Happy Thanksgiving! (And happy black friday, i guess?)
Likewise
Jimmy you are so funny and natural I can't wait till you have a show in Michigan, lots of hugs from Michigan xoxo
I love You 😘😘😘😘😘😘
Happy Thanksgiving 😊
you are baaaaaaaack!! happy thanksgiving!
This is the most low budget homemade video I've ever saw. Like it's made in 2009 but in 2021 by a celebrity. And the guy can actually cook! Everything about this is amazing!
Low budget? More like an OG youtube video from it's golden age
"I BLEW IT!" we could reshoot, but we don't have that kinda time!"
We need more of this on RUclips. The pure times
How is this low budget
I’m Thai. I like Jimmy and I like how Jimmy preparing Pad Kra Pao it’s almost perfect except one little thing; that basil is called ‘Ho Ra Pa’ not ‘Kra Pao’. Usually, we use Ho Ra Pa in red curry. So technically, this dish should be called Pad Ho Ra pa, lol( Pad is stir frying in Thai word). But everything else is perfect. I like the dipping sauce part.
The confusion between Ho Ra Pa and basil is real, but probably not as bad as my friend (a Thai who lives in Thailand whole life) who just look up to me and ask “Does we used Ho Ra Pa or Sa Ra Nae in Kra Pao?” Most painful moment of my life to realize what a derp grew up with.
I'm a fake Thai, i don't know anything about Thai cooking besides leafs in pot together with chicken and yell till food ready
The thai basil is supposed to be “holy basil, aka bai kra pao”. Too hard to find so you use regular basil instead “ho ra pa”.
@@rapipanmanoch6470 555555
Yeah I noticed that too but I guess Kra-Prao is harder to find than Horapa maybe? but people who dont buy or cook regularly can be easily confused. When I was abroad (UK) I substituted Kra-prao with normal Italian basil I think it taste more similar to real Kra-Prao than Horapa :) Anyway the rest of his recipe including crispy fried egg was very legit!
This man is the only man I can bear to show up after almost 3 months, and still can tell him that I love him
Same girl. Same.
same here
Same !!
I really enjoyed you in Lovehard!! The Baby it’s Cold Outside reprise was my favorite scene :)
Lovely to see you cooking as well! I’m a vegetarian myself, so I’ll substitute a not-meat alternative. It’s so cute to see you walking around your garden and showing off your plants, cause you’re just like my dad that way…it makes it clear how much pride and work you put into taking care of them. Very wholesome.
Wow Jimmy! God has blessed you with many different talents, from acting, to comedy, to cooking. I wonder which one you'll use to glorify Him. Of course, we fans reap the benefits. Thank-you so much.
as a Thai fan, i approved of this recipe.
although, if you add a squeeze of lime into your chili/fish sauce mixture, it will taste even better !
He said he is allergic to lime, so I guess that why he omitted it? Yes, I obviously watched too many of his interviews...
But the basil…
thanks for the tip!
My favorite Thai restaurant adds a slice of lime and thin sliced garlic to their chili fish sauce. Delicious!
As a Thai, how can you approved string beans in pad kra pao ..........?
You know the recipe is legit when the man grows his own veggie patch😏
一次見到兩位我喜歡的RUclipsrs! 🤩
It's super cool that you have a backyard garden to use for your cooking! By the way, if you recorded this video around the time this premiered, it's likely that your tomatoes aren't fruiting because it's going to dormant in the winter and might just completely die off on its own, unfortunately. If not, it just looked like it was putting too much energy out making leaves, and sometimes you gotta prune some branches off plants to trick them into creating more flowers/fruits. Also, regarding the Thai Basil plant you said you had trouble planting, the trick is when the plant grows about 7 inches or so, you need to snip an inch off the main branch before it flowers, and it tricks the plant into creating a bigger, bushier Thai basil plant with larger leaves.
I AM SO IMPRESSED, Jimmy! You grow your own stuff - Bow, babes, BOW.
Every fiber in my body wants to say “YANG CAN COOK, SO CAN YOU!!!” You kinda give off his vibes too.
Ha-ha! I love Martin Yan.
Lol I love how you dont waste anything. And you have an outdoor cooking area.
So relatable. Thank you!
I chuckled way more than I thought I would. I don't think a comedian has made me hungry before. 🤣
I watched with my Thai gf who grew up in a Thai restaurant and ngl we were waiting for you to do something wrong cause all people on RUclips cook Thai food wrong but you DIDN’T!!! Even adding the basil in at the end with the heat off! Not many people know that (or so I’m told). Go Jimmy! Loved the video and we know that musta tasted good!
the fuck...?? it's the wrong basil how about to start with that? there's no long beans in kaprao secondly...🤦🏽♂️
I just watched Jimmy in Love Hard on Netflix and a friend told me he had a comedy RUclips channel. So of course I popped on to see. What a delight to see he has cooking videos too! I'll have to try this out on my cooking channel, it looks delicious and right up my alley. Yum! Great video!
Give this man a cooking show! I honestly think he deserves it. He's clearly passionate and committed.
I mean Jeremy has a farming show on Amazon Prime now. Jimmy needs to have a cooking show on Prime.
I’m Thai and this is a pretty legit “Kra Pow” recipe with that green cap bottle soy sauce and Thai Chili dipping sauce on the side ~~~well done Jimmy 😀
Wrong Basil, That's Sweet Basil (Horapa) not Holy Basil (Kra Pow)
Is oyster sauce acceptable?
Typed out recipe:
Jimmy O. Yang PAD KRA PAO
Cook rice
Prepare chicken
* Cut off fat for rendering
* Peel off chicken skin to fry
*Dice chicken
*Pound lightl
*Peel basil off stem
Optional
*Chop long beans
Forage thai chilis (chop thai chilis)
Chop X thai chilis for dipping sauce (chop and put in with fish sauce)
Use remaining thai chilis for sauce to cook with. Mortar and pestle with garlic.
Stiry fry sauce
Soy sauce (Thai)
Oyster sauce
Fish sauce
Sugar
All equal parts
Mix together
Turn heat to high
Use canola oil/ corn oil / neutral oil
Render chicken fat
As the fat gets crispy, leave it in, but once it renders
Toss in the garlic paste with the thai chili (you might cough a little bit), you want the garlic to be a little crispy
Add in the chicken
Before the chicken gets cooked all the way pour in some of the sauce
Throw in more sauce (you can always add more sauce but not take it away)
Add the string beans (whatever vegetable with texture
Once cooked through, put on low heat, let the steam out (toss in basil)
Let it cook
Serve with rice (or add a fried egg), crispy egg sunny side up, high heat and serve.
I was pleasantly surprised with Love Hard. I usually prefer watching action or psychological thrillers over rom-coms, but my cousin forced our family to watch it when we couldn't decide what to watch. Even though the film was predictable (i.e. it's easy to figure out who will end up with who based on the trailer), it was such a fun film to watch. It even got my brother, who absolutely loathes rom-coms, to laugh a few times throughout the film. I think Love Hard may be his favorite rom-com, only because he's never liked any other. Good job, you've unlocked 'Asian Brother Approved' for Love Hard!
I didn't know Jimmy can cook... like, really good. That makes him 50% hotter. I think everyone is waiting for him to open a restaurant. Maybe it can be called the J.O.Y. Luck Restaurant :)
OMGGG!!! I can't believe that you made Thai dish! This is my favourite food too! I'm from Thailand and I'm so appreciate that you made it and I love when you say"Pad ka prao" so much it's very cute and same as Thai accent so much!🙆♀️❤
Love you and i'll support you Jimmy!❤
When this is made with chicken it's "pad kra pao gai" right? This is my favorite dish that I always look for on Thai restaurant menus where I go. I have a bamboo houat passed down to me by my lao god mother that I use to make sticky rice with it when ever I try to make it at home.
@@107thFruit yeahh if it's made by chicken it's call "pad ka proa gai" i can't beleive that have so many people love Thai dish thank you so much😊
@@user-rr6kx6dy8v my favorite dish with pork!

"Love Hard" is an amazing show. I've watched it four times so far. It's just so uplifting! Much needed this year! Thank you for you! I'm a fan, Jimmy! Well done you! And who knew you can also cook? And make it fun and easy? You seem like such a nice guy.... the world needs more people like you. Thank you for sharing your gifts and talents with us.
This is so fun to watch! Initially, when Jimmy started to do these cooking videos on his channel during the pandemic, I thought it was for a joke. I didn't know he actually wanted to start cooking content! And I'm so pleasantly surprised by how long he's stuck by it! He's clearly passionate about cooking, and I really love the fact that that this is the main content people are waiting for on his channel. Way to go, Jimmy!
Died laughing when he ripped the chili pepper branch off 🤣 I love Jimmy O 🥰
Yes! He’s back! Love jimmy’s cooking
Dude. Weird but I actually like how clear you are about what you're doing & how reassuring you are when you cook but can also be silly and crack a joke at the same time. 🤣🔥 Bruhhhhhh 10/10
I didn’t know you were so good in the kitchen! That looks amazing!!! Definitely trying it ! And by the way, I love that you are growing your own food!! There’s nothing like home grown veggies. It is so satisfying to see your veggies grow and produce food 😊
I’m so glad to have found you cook on this channel. It’s oddly refreshing to hear a few expletives thrown in with an instructional video :)
Love 'Love Hard'! And great cooking show! I am going to try out your recipes for the first time this weekend
I am Thai and I can say that this is very authentic, well done! This is my fav Thai dish too. My only comment is for the side sauce you need to add a squeeze of lime :)
You’re funny, you cook and you have a garden with flowers and vegetables. I feel like such an underachiever, lol. I recently found you & your comedy on RUclips.
I guess I’ve been living under a rock, wish I found you sooner. Looking forward to checking out more of your work. 🌻
You should check HBO Silicon Valley and his Amazon standup comedy show.
I've seen “Love Hard” and I have to say, it’s the most entertaining and funniest movie yet. I love it so much the actings were natural that what made it so good. I laughed hard the whole movie. I needed that, thank you!!!
I'm Thai and I would like to say that your Pad Ka Prao looks amazing and almost authentic. Your fried egg is spot-on.
Thanks for the cooking video recipe & garden tour. I love your bush. Very nice 👍🏼
Food looks delish!!
Actor , comedian,Asian,cook show . I need this life😭😭😭😭💞💞💞🧞
I'm literally so happy that your back
Glad to see you got it right on point with the crispy edge fried egg, just like how we serve it here in Thailand, which many RUclips cooks unfortunately confused it with the Western sunny side up ones and destroyed the dish's charm. Good on you, Jimmy 👍😊
LMAO you chopping the chicken with two cleavers got me cracking up! So true that every Chinese home gotta have those cleavers!!
Inspirational:) Cookin, gardenin, and laughs. Thx for cooking diy vlogs to share enjoying the moment
On behalf of Thailand from this Chinese American dude living there, I declare this classic Thai recipe legit 🇹🇭
I love your real, actually used kitchen and that you are the one cooking in it. Funny and educational...frying pan. 😂
I love how simple the recipe is. Would try it even I don’t enjoy cooking all the time. It’s fun to watch you cook😍
Just made this delicious recipe. Another one to add to our repertoire. Yum 😋 thanks for filming it and making it fun❤️
Love his comedy- love his cooking show- love his acting!!! 😘
This is so fun to watch and I bet it tastes great too. I can't stop watching Jimmy or Love Hard! Seriously I have probably watched it like 15 times and now I watch it when I go to bed. So cute!
Welcome back! I gotta say, I LOVED Lovehard. Probably my top Christmas movie, one that'll be rewatched every year. Huge tear jerker. You're an inspiration man!
I love your cooking show. You're obviously very talented and enthusiastic about cooking, have great commentary the whole time, and don't hide when things go slightly wrong like the yolk breaking. The best cooking shows inspire people to cook, and you do that.
Jimmy, I just watched 'Love Hard' and it was one of the BEST shows ever!! YOU WERE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in it and I especially liked the 'Baby, it's cold outside' scene >.< So, I researched a little more about you, found your stand-up videos, laughed SO HARD that I was SURE my mom heard me from outside my room and thought I was more insane than usual >.
I saw your "love hard" movie the other day. So wholesome, just like your cooking!!
Dude, I love your style of cooking; not needlessly complex and with great general knowledge of food and ingredients. I've learned quite a few tips, tricks, and techniques from your videos, so big thank you for that!
love this!Be happy and take care, Jim.Love the garden too🥰
Jimmy just don’t stop working! Can’t wait for your next movie.
Request - make something with fresh noodles, please.

Beautiful back yard and love your vegetable garden.
I’m doing this Jimmy! Watched yesterday, got the ingredient and gonna rewatch while cooking! Looking forward to watching your other cooking vids!
He’s just too good for this world ! I wish he could post every week.
Just a chill dude chasing after his dreams and found success in both comedy and acting. And now…home cook/food influencer. Lol, I wish I could just go and make all my hobbies into a career. 🥲
Don't worry about your pepper plant! Pruning encourages new growth and it's good prune it down to encourage it to grow into a bush shape instead of a spindly tall tree shape that can't hold the weight of the fruit.
YES! More of Jimmy's Kitchen, please and thank you.
Made this at home last night, absolute fire! Thanks for the channel Jimmy! Keep em coming!
Try to manually propagate the tomato flowers, maybe! 💕 Had the same problem with my hydroponic setup before, solved pretty quick by shaking/blowing on the flower buds, or grazing with a paintbrush to spread the pollen around 😊
Thanks I’ll try it!
@@LowballJim can't wait to see more garden videos!! ✨🍃
I love jimmy, and I’m just so glad he wants to teach us to cook
You are an instant star in everything you do. Thanks for being you, Jimmy.
I love this! I’m an even bigger fan now that I know you can cook! I will absolutely be making this. Just watched Love Hard. Also enjoyed you in Life of the Party.
I'm a born and raised Thai and Jimmy O Yang knows what he's doing, down to the way we fry eggs. I'm a little bit conflicted about the long beans though. (There's a whole movement in Thailand against long beans in Pad Kra Pao.)
A whole movement against long beans? I think there should be a movement against bell peppers! Those are nasty! =P
The long beans and the oyster sauce as well! 555 Good job Jimmy. Your ผัดกระเพรา is Thai approved!
Checked out Love Hard and absolutely loved it! Jimmy is a really great actor/comedian/cook
Jimmy, love this cooking show. 😋 . Love your role as Josh Lin in Love Hard too. Hope to see more of your work in the future.👍
It looks so good! Love this dish and never thought that can homemade it.
And loved “love hard”movie too! Looking forward to seeing more movies and shows.
Nice to see that Richard’s son is doing so well as a cook! 😂
As a Thai fan see you cooking our food , man ! it made me love you even more ^^ however the green vegetable you used is not Ka Prao though. Ka Prao is holy basil but you used sweet basil instead. Thye are the same family but smell different.
real life cooking with a candidly funny person-- what an experience!!! Thanks🙏👍
Ahh the happy dance at the end. That's how you know the food is so good: it's so good, words just doesn't do it justice. 🇹🇭🐔🐓🌿🥰🥰🥰
Loved Love Hard Jimmy!
Really authentic down to rendering the bit of fat from the chicken breast (when you didn’t get the thigh), and recommending the better Lee Kum Kee oyster sauce. And adding that crispy fried egg that’s not just a sunny side up egg. Enjoy your meal!
R
That is exactly how Thai people eat Pad Ka Prao. Sunny side up egg on top of the finished plate. Great Job, Jimmy!
Note: If you can find real Ka Prao basil (Google says it is called Holy basil), it will taste even better. But it is so hard to find.
I've been binging your videos lately and now all I want to do is hang out in your kitchen while you cook haha thanks for the vids! Gonna try this out tonight :)
Always love you, Jimmy! You are such a fun person!
Jimmy, I just made the decision to stay up and make this tonight. Finished at 1am and have been savoring/eating for the last hour. Absolutely delicious!!!
So great to show us the camera man and give him a taste, he's so cute! That's what cooking is all about, sharing the love 🥰
Loved Love Hard!! Love your cooking!!!
I can watch you all day 😂😭 love you!!
Jimmy!!! It’s such a shame! Just 2 months ago, I had a huge basil bush that went waste because it died as winter came. I wish i could make this dish with my basil. Your dish looked absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing❤️
Can this be turn into a cooking show and eventual restaurant franchise called Jimmy’s kitchen please. Would travel to the states to dine in.
This is one of my favorite dishes!! I get it a couple times a month from my local spot. Thanks so much for demonstrating it in such an accessible way -- I'm inspired to make it myself now!!
I love you Jimmy!! I enjoy your show and well done for Pad Kra Pao!
Can you next make a dish with Sichuan peppers? I've been in love with them ever since I had tasted them a couple years ago. The Sichuan peppers were part of a dish comprising of fried squid and fried (dried) chili peppers.
I don't think that even "Kra-pao" here. Holy basil = kra-pao, Thai basil = ho-rha-pha and here is the later one for sure. Nothing terribly wrong about how you do it (and occasionally - more like rarely, since holy basil is much much MUCH better - we have some Pad-ho-rha-pha), it just not the right leaves.
BTW a bit more details in that chili fish sauce (Nampla-prik) would make it much better - slices of garlic (if you like shallots - this would be a great fit also), pinches of sugar, a splash of lime would make a great Nampla-prik.
I'm learning how to cook dishes I never thought I could. Thank you!
It's so cool your on RUclips! Also subscribed to the newsletter hoping to see your stand up sometime in the future!
man i’d give anything to get lunch with this guy. he’s literally such a vibe
4:39 You have to get the correct fertilizer. Some fertilizers promote plant growth. Other fertilizers enhance fruit growth. The dish looks great! Thanks.
I’ve been binge watching your stand up videos 🤣😂. Just found your channel 🤪. Looks delicious, you can always tell a chef from their garden and their spice rack 😁.
The more I watch, the more I realize what an amazing artist and person you are. Totally respect that garden of yours!!!😊
I believe your version is very delicious as well, but the basil you used here was not actually “Kra prow”. Kra prow is Hot Basil & I believe you can find them in any Thai grocery market. The basil you used is called “Ho-ra-pa”, or sweet basil which is widely used in many Thai coconut milk curries. Just a little fun facts, but enjoy however you like 🥰 BTW, very impressive herbs garden, especially the Thai chillies! And the sauces… you nailed them! The Holy Trinity in all Thai stir fried dishes! 😉
Yes, many westerners make this mistake. They confuse between holy basil and sweet basil.
Not everyone has a Thai market near them.
I made this today and it was so delicious I made a second batch and ate it too! Damn... 😀
Love this recipe Jimmy. Thank you
That looked absolutely delicious! And I love the backyard garden!
Looks delicious, should teach Jamie Oliver to cook this dish. Approve by Uncle Roger definitely.😊
Jimmy...Does your mom know how much you spent on that hand soap in your kitchen???
love Jimmy's voice and how you cook! the egg looks amazing btw!
I’m a new subscriber! Love your movie Lovehard. Keep it coming
