I have gastroparesis and emetaphobia (fear of vomiting) I had therapy so other people being sick doesn’t bother me but I’m still petrified of myself being sick. I’ve had this since i was 5 and I’m now 15. I feel nauseous all the time but have times when I feel like I’m going to vomit and I freak out. Your videos about GP has helped me not feel as scared and realise it’s not the end of the world! Seeing how you bounce back after being sick makes me realise that it’s not that bad and there’s not a lot to be scared of 💕

My emetaphobia is so bad, people coughing sets me off, if someone says they're not feeling well, I get paranoid. And if someone is actually vomiting. I've actually say outside my house in -20 degrees (c) overnight to avoid being in my home. If I can't leave, I sit in the corner sobbing, covering my ears and humming to myself. I can't function to the point I was unable to go to a pub or bar because I was so scared of someone randomly vomiting.
I actually quit smoking so I wouldn't need to go outside, where a lot of people end up puking at bars.

Dale B I know that feeling. Whenever someone says that don’t feel good I immediately ask them are you feeling nauseous so I know to stay away from them. I know that sounds & look mean but I have serious emetaphobia & just seeing some gag makes me nervous. I have bad panic attacks & cry because I hate vomiting & scared I could get sick next.

Dale B I thought I was the only one with this... I also have IBS and I’m usually nauseous 24/7 so it makes me have severe anxiety all day. I’m lactose intolerant and I can’t even eat anything I want because the nausea is so bad and I know that I will throw up. It controls pretty much everything. Luckily my husband is pretty accepting of it or idk what I’d do.

I lived with severe emetaphobia (fear of vomit) my entire life.... I’m now 22. It’s only in the last few years that I can handle my dog throwing up.
I use to have panic attacks if anyone was sick around me. If I threw up I would have panic attacks whilst being sick (which is literally horrific).
I cannot handle other people being sick. My brain doesn’t know how to cope with it. But if someone has been sick and I see it after. I no longer panic. I can now handle myself being sick because I had food poisoning twice in three months last year and threw up more in those three days combined then I had in the last fifteen total.
From the outside looking in I cannot comprehend how you manage to deal with being sick so much. It just makes me want to give you a hug because you’re clearly such a strong person. You’re living with so many conditions but still manage to smile and bring awareness. Honestly you’re amazing.

I live with the same thing! I have a peanut allergy where I get anaphylaxis and vomit so eating out anywhere gives me the biggest anxiety! Got takeaway pizza once that some how had peanut butter on the crust from the kitchen and I ended up throwing up and having to be taken to hospital. Its such a horrible phobia to live with so I relate to you heaps! Can't comprehend throwing up every day, it would be horrendous. Totally agree that she's so amazing!

    • @mandyneuhaus2544
      @mandyneuhaus2544 5 лет назад +1

This phobia is really bad. I have it too and there are times were I just can't stay in the bus or sth. I once was with my boyfriend when he got sick and 6 months or so I couldn't stand laying next to him when he moved. I always jumped away and I had to fight a panic attack. I also have nightmares after things like that.
But life is too short and I am trying to get through it. I know you have to watch videos of people being sick or so if you go to therapy so I don't skip parts like that.
      Stay strong!

Have you tried Sancuso patches for nausea?
Stick it to your back, lasts all week, no nausea.
It stopped the nausea from an extremely aggressive chemo... it's really strong, no side effects that I noticed, and don't have to worry about when I took the last one, when I can take the next one, just a no worry week.
They're $600 each here without insurance. With insurance the price can vary from free to about $30.
I use that when it's bad or promethazine because zofran just gives me a headache.

@@prettysureful definitely request from your doctor!
It's usually for cancer patients but they may be lenient and prescribe it if you don't have cancer.
Second best to sancuso is promethazine.
Sancuso is easier because it's a patch so you can't throw it up - promethazine is a pill.. so you've gotta keep it down.
I also highly recommend medical marijuana if you're in a state that you have access.
It might take a little train and error to find the right strain for you.
RSO works well but is VERY strong.
The employees at the dispensary will be able to help you.

Could the rash be caused from a sun sensitivity from medication? I have this issue and it's caused from my meds. You should be able to either Google each med or just take your list to your chemist and ask if any of them, or a combo, cause sun sensitivity. If this is the case, you'll need to find an all natural, or organic, face safe, sunscreen... or an oil type moisturizer then wear a makeup with an spf.

Thank you for always being honest and open about life chronically ill. Throwing up is such a nuisance not just because of the act but the clean up. For me I have to let someone else cleanup because my gag reflex when I see vomit is bad, which of course makes having gastroparesis "fun" because when I throw up if I dont keep my eyes closed I throw up even more because of the visual. Thank you for always sharing the goods and the bads.

Google Translate has a function that would allow you to translate what you are trying to tell them into their native tongue. Not sure if this would be effective due to translation errors but it may work.
Also another thought that I thought of was to pull up a picture of finger dislocations so that u can show them and point to yourself.
I hope that one of these ideas would work for u

Your peely skin thing might be a reaction to skincare or medicine.
I was on acne medicine and I was so sun sensitive this skin peeling thing would happen, but it wasn't sun burn, didn't hurt at all, I just looked like a shedding snake. Then I got this skincare stuff from my dermatologist that was like medicated, and that alone made me so sun sensitive I turned into a snake if i went into the sun.
And now I'm on metoprolol for my POTS and it also makes me a snake from the sun.... so now I just avoid the sun 😅

I also looked these parts because I know that one tday I have to get okay with that. But I can't deal with that in real life. Like the process not the result ( :'D) i completle freak out. Leave buses and try not to have a panic attack. I already told all my friends that I am not going to help them if they are drunk or die. But I hope that I can help someone if they are maybe in real danger but also vomit. But I am not sure if my phobia can dela with it.
But with all phobias and fears. You have to fight them so they don't make life impossible or not let it be a big obstacle 🤷‍♀️

I LOVE Zofran. It’s commonly prescribed in the US for use during pregnancy to prevent all day sickness. It didn’t stop me throwing up from an empty stomach in the morning, but it did curb nausea throughout the day. We took a whale watching cruise while I was 11 weeks along and I was literally the only upper deck passenger who didn’t vomit. I think my pregnancy gave me just a tiny snippet of what being nauseated constantly can do to your quality of life, and it amazes me how you persevere though it.

What's worked relatively well for me in the past is asking them what language they speak (most salons around me are either Japanese or Vietnamese) and then using Google translate to put what you need to say into something they can more easily understand. Language barriers are hard, but technology can make it easier!

I highly recommend seeing a Dermatologist any time you have a rash, hives, etc. If you cant get in right away, take pictures. See if you can email the pictures to the Dermatologist. Some of my doctors allow me to email, some are not sent up for that. Im in the USA btw. As for vomiting due to the Gastroparesis, I literally have emesis bags everywhere. My minivan, my purse, my hospital bag that goes everywhere with me, at my bedside, bathroom, etc.

Regarding the situation at the nail salon, maybe you could have something printed out on a card you can keep with you that would explain in some way. You can let them read the card. If they don't understand spoken language, sometimes they can at least read things and understand. Anyway, it's just a suggestion. By the way, your finger splints may be a hassle to you but they look cool. They're like interesting rings to me.

I have severe emetaphobia to the point where I literally start panicking and crying when I feel nauseous. I don’t know why or how but I’ve had this fear since I was 4 years old and boy does it hinder me from doing a lot of things. I’ve literally avoided amusement parks/rollercoasters, bars, clubs, basically anything that pertains an activity that may potentially make you vomit. My fear is so bad I’ve literally missed school and word several days just because I felt super nauseous to avoid the breakdown I’d have in public. Whenever I get sick, I avoid going to the hospital in fear there will be a child or adult puking.

Oh, (I’m in Australia too)-with the Ondansatron, it pays to ring around pharmacies-the price between pharmacies can be wildly different. I also use it too, and my last script of 10, 4mg “orally disintegrating tablets” (not wafers, but I find it dissolves the same as the wafers) only cost $17.99, but it’s not the brand type-it’s a generic brand-which will also save you coin if ur prepared to at least try it. It works the same for me, but is 1/2 the price!! U can always go back to the branded one if u don’t like it. Also, you need to make sure ur doctor specifies wafers/orally disintegrating tablets, and to double check with the pharmacist if ur going to a different pharmacy than your regular pharmacy. I’ve come unstuck and ended up with tablets once, and I think it was because my regular pharmacist knew what I needed, but when I went elsewhere looking for a better price, they didn’t know I definitely needed the wafers/dispersible tablets. I also think (but I’m not sure), that the tablets are cheaper still too, but they don’t work as fast as the wafers/orally disintegrating tablets. I hope this helps!!!

I have emetophobia, it's horrible, it's debilatating, and nobody understands so it's incredibly frustrating. I can handle myself being sick (because I know I'm still in control) , but my anxiety is triggered by lack of control, so if I feel like someone around me is not in control of themselves then I panic. So, sick people and drunk people are a no-no. I don't go clubbing or to bars or parties with a bunch of people drinking because it absolutely terrifies me, but I CAN avoid those situations for the most part. Here's the problem: I'm a parent. I have two children. Children get sick. If one of my kids is acting 'off' it often sends me into a spiral of anxiety attacks all night, and then I end up sick for days because my head feels crazy and I can't sleep- and 99% of them time, the child is FINE, I'm freaking out for nothing. It's a really dumb problem to have, and when I'm thinking rationally, I KNOW it's dumb. In the moment though, I turn into this horrible screaming monster, hyperventilating, just having a total mental breakdown. I'm lucky to be married to a great man who definitely picks up the slack in these situations and sends me away. I could probably even handle picking up vomit if I knew it was like, one and done (like a cat) but my irrational fear is that whoever is sick is just NOT in control of themself, they might make a mess, they might touch me they might spread germs etc etc etc. I suppose if it was in a more controlled environment with a chronically sick person, I would probably be able to learn to control my phobia a bit better, kind of like an exposure therapy, but more than anything I wish I could just 'get over it' so to speak. That being said, this video wasn't too triggering for me (thank you for that warning and for understanding some people CANNOT handle it), and I think it's wonderful that you're sharing your real experience without sugar coating too much because it brings awareness of your condition. I feel like I've learned a good lot from your videos and how amazing you are at dealing with your conditions, you just keep plugging away like eveyrone else here, but you do it with grace, I like that you're funny and I like that you're REAL. Love your channel, keep the videos coming :) Salutations from Canada!

With the nails, the best way is to just explain to them the best that you can beforehand what happens and that its nothing to worry about. My mom has tremors in her hands(I know its not the same thing) but she has to explain it before they do her nails so that they can find a way to work with/around it

I haven't finished the video yet, because I just had to stop for a moment. My mind is blown! I'm in the US and I'm on Medicaid (state-sponsored insurance.) I'm in Illinois and our state is rather generous, but of course, it's very limited because it's for us poor folks. Still, I have an Rx of 30 Zofran a month, which I take PRN, and hoard them if I don't use them. I only have mild GP, nothing as bad as yours. I get nauseated quite often, but I try to control it by not eating much. I'm just blown away that you can't get it in AU! Medical care is the US is notorious for being hard to get, especially if you're the working poor, like me, but I can get all the Zofran I need. Of course I get the generic, but still... I feel for you. I know what it's like to be nauseated all the time. This is the first time I have felt lucky for the healthcare I get here. Zofran doesn't cost me anything. It used to cost me $25 a month, but it was finally accepted as medicine I need. I'm very grateful.

I also need odonsetran/zofran and it's 64 CHF for 6-8 pieces/tablets they are the 6mg. Switzerland is very expensive when it comes to special meds but luckily we have good insurances. It's crazy you have to pay that much because you (or the pharmacy/insurance) can't accept a private prescription smh ...
