35°F (3°C) is freezing for me where im at. Like, it would probably actually snow at that temperature out here! (I live in Nevada.) Also, do you, ignore those who judge you or question you for wanting a coat! Its your life. Like you said you dont need to explain yourself. Love your vlogs. I have cEDS and my skin tears really easily.
To get tape to loosen I put a couple of drops of oil (I like almond oil best but it’s expensive so I use cheap baby oil, which is scented so it might mess with your mast cells) and rub it around and over the tape and it just slides off.
If you put a little talcum powder on (or cornflour) before the tape, it comes off much easier but there’s an art to how much to put on because too much and the tape won’t stick at all!
Shh, I don’t want to get him into trouble but when I get blood drawn at the phlebotomist he gets the tape and touches it to my t-shirt a couple of times so it picks up a bit of fluff before it goes on my skin and that helps a ton too (it’s only to hold the cotton wool ball down so it doesn’t need to be sterile!).
I love your vlogs as you make me feel like I’m not alone. Thank you.

Fellow EDSer, completely understand. My skin is very fragile too. Anything with adhesive rips my skin plus I always have a horrible reaction. I use sports wrap with gauze when I can since it sticks to itself and not you. If I use a bandaid it leaves a mark on my skin for months.

  • @WorthyMissJ

Peppermint or lemon lift hot tea with honey are my favorite winter drinks! Or, traditional mulled cider. That sinus wash is pure hell! I'm supposed to do it twice a week but, after the first time, I stopped because of the migraine it gave me! No WAY am I going to go through a two day migraine twice a week on top of the normal 3-4 that I get every month! It just wasn't worth it for me! Moisturize with coconut oil a few times a day to solve the facial flakiness & dryness. A tiny bit of baby powder or corn starch on the skin will help with the tearing. Just dip one finger and pat into the area you'll have the sticky pad / patch on. It won't stick as hard but it won't rip your skin every time you need to change it. Also, this helps with rashes in awkward places.

don't worry about popping the balloon, my GI doctor has said before usually those balloons are made to contain a little over what they say to put in them (for example my mic-key claims to need 10mls but it can even hold 15!) as long as you dont put some crazy amount in there you should be totally fine even if its a mil or two over!

Yes tearing skin is an EDS thing. The only thing that doesn't tear my skin is those flimsy paper band-aids, but anything with regular tape or glue or even if it's just too intense an exfoliator and I'll be loosing a layer or two of skin with it often to the point of some very minor bleeding

I get the tares on thy skin, not because of EDS, but because of my ‘sensitive skin. Certain plasters when left on for 24 hours or more will take off a layer of my skin, and you can feel that it will happen with it being irritating. I don’t get tares on my face due to washing it, but I can’t use scented or any fancy soaps because of the intense irritation and rashes I get. Don’t know if ‘sensitive skin’ will help you prevent it happening to yourself again xxx

Feel better tom 😷 🙏❤️. Amy I have similar skin issues when I'm really dehydrated. I would make sure to bring it up to Drs. It could be possible you aren't getting enough fluid thru tube. Skin is largest organ in the body if it begins changing, always make note at least. But yeah sjogrens really affects skin and when my electrolytes etc are off it really acts up first, then pots, dysautonomia, blood pressure and adrenals.

I use a neti pot for flushes but it calls for distilled water. Check the box before he flushes again. You don't want brain emobebas from tap water.

Skin ripping is the worstQ My nails will take chunks out of my skin too. I have scars from ripping off IV tape or bandaids.

35°is cold that's close to the temp for freezing here in the US. One thing I did notice while you guys were driving that it is a lot prettier there at 35° than were I am. At 35° here everything just looks so dismal and just like blah. But you shouldn't have to explain yourself about it.

I don’t have EDS but my skin tears so easy. When I use heat pack I am not able to take the tape off. I only can use few tape that doesn’t react to me. I really hope I can find someone like u and Tom.

Rooibos is my favorite tea. It's a red tea best hot with a little milk and sugar.
Not easy to find in california - it's imported from africa.

I got vanilla rooibos from Sprouts. They always have it. I'm in Southern California.

@@XSemperIdem5 vanilla rooibos? Im looking for plain red rooibos. I think teavana has it, but it's not cheap!
Favorite is just rooibos, I think the added vanilla takes away from the flavor I like.

My fav, and haven't been able to find this in 11 yrs! I want to 😭😂🤦‍♀️💀.. anyways, my very good friend she knew about my gut issues and I had lost a bunch of weight and was not keeping things down and my throat was trash (hurt soso badly) so she brought me over some tea and it was called coconut chai! I can find a billion diff flavors (ok so really not that many lol) but I cannot for the life of me find coconut chai! It was tea bags and just made with the hot water, added half tsp of sugar and tbsp of non dairy cream and it was absolutely amazing! Oh how I would love to find my illusive coconut chai once again...

What is the coldest it gets during the winter there? I live in the US in Pennsylvania. This winter we had some brutally cold days...down to negative 15°F a couple of times. I’m so thankful winter is over and we’re now in the thick of spring

Hi Amy, I have the exact same problem with my skin ripping. I have a treatment every other week and the tape to hold my iv in place rips my skin every time and I always have the peeling skin too. When you mentioned that it is like having a sunburn, I could totally relate! I describe it like that all the time.
I was wondering if your surgery scars heal unusually too. I have had many surgeries and my scars are so wide and stretched looking after they heal. New skin over the scar is very thin and transparent looking. Scars also stay very red. I have been told it is because of my EDS.
