The least appreciated and most underpaid professionals in NYC. They contract diseases, get assaulted regularly, and are used as a taxi service by those dependent on Medicaid and used as a human waste service for picking up drunks. It's really an awful job that no rational person would want but these people are motivated by the rare call where they actually help someone or get a thank you.
MercuryCobalt Just watched this video today 4/5/2020 & your absolutely right. I did this job, in the Bx, Station 21, for five years. From 1990-95 & it’s a lot how you described. But I met some of the best coworkers I’ve ever known & still friends with today. Much respect for EMS in NYC. The lady in the video, Carmen, was a coworker from my station. She was a rookie back then.
@phuckcrew1 feel really bad for you tour 1 guys. I ran with 2 and 3 (tour) on a ride along and got a cardiac arrest on one! My first one at that. I never realised how busy you guys are. Great job guys :) 14 boy for the assignment. Can't get that outta my head lol
lisa you are totally right!!! working overnight is a choice because they able to do less jobs and rest extra time. if you can take the heat get out...I work ems and i love every min of it. If you sick dont do interview and if you cant say anything positive about your job, then go to college and dont cry cause all you have is a GED with a salary over 60K please...this is the best job ever!! and i love it!!!
my unit runs around all night, and matter of fact during the day its kinda less stressful because your getting calls for stomach aches and most likely the guy aint gonna crash on u. working tour 1 your dealing with strange situations, what is this person doing awake at 4am and requesting an ambulance
