I would much rather own one of these over a bugatti strictly from a visual standpoint alone. They look so much nicer.

I can't wait for the Venom F5 to come out so people can stop saying this is a kit car. It doesn't matter if the Koenigsegg is faster to 300 kmh or that Veyron has the official world record or any other comparison. This car is incredible.
1. It only costs a little over a million which is less than half of what comparable cars cost.
2. It uses a single clutch manual gear box yet it is still able to accelerate as fast as the other high tech hyper cars.
3. They don't have a fancy 10+ mile looped track with a 5.4 mile straight that they can test the top speed like the Veyron. (because Volkswagen owns Bugatti). This car easily hits 270 but has to stop because it doesn't have room.
4. Besides the Veyron, none of the other cars like the One:1 or the Agera have ever tested top speed so any figures you find are claimed.
5. Sure, only like 11 Venoms have been made which isn't the 29 needed to be a production car but aren't there only like 3 One:1s?
6. These other cars were built by multi million and billion dollar companies while the Venom was built by some guy and his friends in Texas.

Lets put this into context, this is a tuned car to extreme. I give this a 10 out of 10. They used light, aero good looking body work of a lotus, slapped on a hardy v8 increased it to 7.0l then slapped two huge turbo, now they have a Guinness world record. If you can do this in a fully built production well hats off to you, these guys got the record from tuning..so if it were that easy, so many guys would be trying.
Koenigsegg left this car for dead in their 0-300 test. Full second faster, so this 'car' has no records.

Venom GT is a modified second hand Lotus Exige in the category of tuner much like AMS, Heffnerr, etc. Most works are done by Delta Motorsports specialized in Lotus. Plenty Lotus enthusiasts did similar stuff, Hennessey just uses his typical PR where he did not even build it. Current fastest tuned street car is Power Racing Ford GT that reached 282 mph (~455km/h)

That statement alone tell me you really don't know much about car's or engineering, first of all you have to take in consideration all the factors that affect the car's ability to cope with all the power and stress this kind of power put to the chassis and then you have to take in consideration the driver,the passenger, the comfort of the car, the cabin noise, the reliability of the engine and the stress the turbos are putting through the engine and when you take all of the above and put it on a car design you end up with a Koenigsegg or a Bugatti Veyron , yes you can drive this car to 270 miles per hour but how many times and how comfortable or quieter it is,this is a nice car i love it fo what it is but is not better than a koenigsegg or a Bugatti,this is a show off car and that it

If all that's left is the windshield, doors, and dash, then it is in the same category as a shelby cobra.
I wouldn't call this a production car, but it ceased being a Lotus when it lost the suspension, motor, trans, and the 80% of the interior and exterior. This is NOT a Lotus.

The characteristics of a production vehicle or production car are mass-produced identical models, offered for sale to the public, and able to be legally driven on public roads (street legal). This is all Wikipedia says on the subject.Nowhere is it speciefied that it has to be build on a model the company designed, plus Hennesey is a small manufacturer and around 10 Venom GT's have been manufactured and they're the exact same.

that might be and while the Koenigsegg Agera R is my favorite I'd take the Hennessey Venom GT over it. WHY? stick shift. I can't stand paddle shifters plus insurance would be cheaper on the Venom GT. It would be registered as a "Lotus" equals big savings. I gotta have analog and almost NO makers go stick shift anymore. I gotta have that feel of the car. Not something grandma can drive or what's in road level BMW's. (not hating on BMW just saying) paddles are on everything these days. Takes away from that experience I've got to have. Venom GT to me begs to be driven plus I want to it scare the shit outta me which I'm sure it would do when accelerating.

I followed the whole John Hennessey story, he isn't "truly" producing that car. I am an American thru and thru and I would love to have an American Super/Hyper Car but this my friend isn't a production car. Its a Lotus that has been widen, engine swapped w/ GM's latest Corvette engine and super tuned. All of those knock it out of being a production car. Not once have I ever said this wasn't a fast a$$ car because it is....but it is not a "true" production car.

Hennessey got other companies to do the majority of this car for him, just like any other tuner car on the street. You will be extremely hard-pressed to find a faster, better handling, and more luxurious car than the Agera R.

The Zonda R isn't even road legal dipshit... In fact, it violates noise restrictions on many private tracks, so have fun finding a place to drive it.
uh it barely breaks the street legal limit. its only not street legal because its front bumper and splitter are so sharp it could easily cut someone legs in half even if it hits them at a low speed and it only breaks the height limit of the ground by an inch or so.
also, the hennesey not so long ago was not street legal either, and its engine is a beast thats y its so loud. louder is better dipshit.

In the begining when Venom GT was just released I didn't like it too much (not that I have money to buy one) but still I thought it just another car with lots of power that everybody makes a lot of noise about. But than Venom GT proven to be amazing car, that puts all its power to use and breaks amazing records. I'm really glad that this amazing car turned out to be so good, and very happy for the guys in Hennessey with their success!

Stock my RX-7 was 0-100 mph in 14 seconds, not bad for 1994. On a good day I can almost cut that time in half and without traction control that's an intense ride. 0-186mph in 14 seconds is just insane. Hats off to everyone involved.
918, P1 pwn this car in everyway except top speed. Costing about the same, they have luxury interiors for everyday use. they have better grip and handling. They are more well built, and they have style + character. Seriously there are much faster dragsters than this, and if dragstrips are the only place your car excels, then why buy a million dollar drag machine when you can just get an old muscle car. add some mods and do 8s 1/4. At least that car will have some character.

here's something for all you Venom haters... it's BIULT in the USA. the motor is BIULT in the usa. the parts for this car can be easily accessible to anyone. and about 20x cheaper than any hypercar from Europe. the tires for the Veyron cost like 30 grand. If this exact car came from Europe and had a hard to pronounce wierd as name, you dreamers would be SINGING it's praises. but because you can go to Texas and order this car, it's not Exotic enough?? lol. you people cracked me up. The car is built from top to bottom in the UK Hennessey doesn't even build the engines.....When an order is placed, Hennessey buys a Lotus donor car, which is then shipped to Delta’s base at Silverstone where they strip it back to a bare bonded aluminium tub. The tub is then prepared to receive the new front and rear structures, along with a roll-cage to increase rigidity and safety. The carbon bodywork is painted and then the whole package is flown to Texas where Hennessey installs the powertrain, brakes and suspension before shaking the car down, setting it up and delivering it to the customer...
Is the car called a Hennessey Venom? Was it not conceived, designed and engineered over several years at Hennessey? I know the body is biult by the UK, but it's biult to Hennessey specs. It's called outsourcing, all companies do it. The heart and soul of ever car us it's drive train, and suspension. again, HENNESSEY is the shop that installs these critical components, the engines are outsourced aswell by partnership, but developed and engineered again over several years and biult to Hennessey specifications. It is the 21st century. No one bangs out cars 100% in house. So give HENNESSEY the credit their due. It's their vision, and their name on the car.

While we were the process of establishing our requirements for what constitutes a ‘production car’, we did, as you correctly state, recognise the Hennessey Venom GT as the fastest car to accelerate from 0-300 km/h. Upon subsequent research with our expert consultants, it was deemed that the production run needed to consist of 30 identical vehicles, to be in line with UK and International car testing standards. As a result, we no longer recognise the Hennessey Venom GT as the holder of this record, and we are awaiting a suitable claim.

I would rather own an Ager R. This is just a lotus with a corvette motor and turbos. What they have done is very impressive. But its just not worth the price tag.

only from back window forward is borrowed from lotus. screw reinventing doors, roof, hood, dash, steering components etc. This machine is pure Hennessey.
Dan Martin,watch the Hennessey video clips,and you will see the one that says the Venom GT is built up from a small block Chevy Engine, with add on twin turbos,plus extra work done on it.(putting out 1200hp) If I am wrong, refer me to the video clip that says otherwise.

To beat the koenigsegg by a second is literally smashing the koenigsegg's record and it doesn't have a dual clutch flappy paddle gearbox box!! It's truly amazing and is still a drivers car. It is interesting how a car’s performance is taken so personal. There is a reason this car is so fast. Power to weight ratio. It is not that complicated. The Europeans for some reason truly believe they can make something go fast and accomplish it and act like it is a moon shot. It is not. It is difficult no doubt. But the money that they need to accomplish this is staggering. An American from Texas that builds some outstanding tuned cars pieced together a car that just is borderline savage. Appreciate his accomplishment. All he did was make a faster car than the Europeans. A tuner from a shop near Houston put it to the Europeans. Let us see what they have for us.

lsx engines handle upgrades pretty good. Im a ford guy and I have to say the ls platform is one of the best in the world.
All you have to do is order the engine and Hennessey lists the parts for the upgraded version of the GT

Actually the run the Veyron SS did was dropped due to the fact that the production version is limited to 259 mph. The Venom GT currently holds the record at 265 mph.

5:38 that's Hennessey's personal Focus ST Hennessey that he built and tuned himself. That thing is absolutely wicked....not as nasty as the Venom GT however.
Also, AMS and UGR Rely soley on Heavy modifications and Pump fuel/Boost while out on the streets. Which is fine, but gives them a huge advantage in terms of which is the "better" vehicle. After all, Hennessey is trying to keep it in the Production category.

We still have advances being made even today. So no, we haven't "mastered" the "gasoline engine" nor have we "extracted last iota of explosive power" possible from internal combustion technology itself.
Lotus done the same thing with the Type 115 GT1, as the same as Hennessy done with the Venom GT. The only differences between these cars are the decades, the technology and the materials used. This design is still based off a 1990’s design that Lotus has done, though done for the twentieth century.

What are you talking about? AMS gtr acceleration is good until 200mph (13s), venom (13.5), lamborghini (14). After that its all about venom or do you think that the gtr and the lambo can get to 270mph+?

Jason, when I mentioned the Shelby GT, I meant the 2007 nod to the GT350's of old. This was nodded at the Shelby facility, and sold as a limited edition production car.
I'm sure every Bugatti veyron were tuned heavily before delivered to the customer. The Hennessy venom is a production car, meaning you can call Hennessy and have one PRODUCED for you. Yes it has body and interior characteristics that match a lotus but this car is pure power.
did you watch the tuned episode? the only thing lotus left are the doors and interior along with the lock unlock process to start it, the rest is simply based off lotus' looks

***** The people around the Nurburgring themself made it impossible to take those times serious. The Koeningsegg wanted to improve the time there by over 20 seconds and suddenly they said they had to hold themself on a speedlimit. In other words, it's impossible to improve the time.
They even offered to rent the entire track, but it still wasn't allowed to drive as fast as possible.
So racing on the Nurburgring for racing cars is a waste of time nowadays.

Therefore this is a tuned car and not a production car from the Lotus factory.
