Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution | COTA Production Car Lap Record |

- Опубликовано: 24 мар 2024
- Hennessey Special Vehicles, the Texas-based hypercar manufacturer, has set a new production car lap record at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) with a blistering 2:10.90 lap of the 3.41-mile-long racetrack.
For the record-setting lap, independent, third-party timing was conducted by RACELOGIC using their VBOX satellite telemetry and data logging systems. The Venom F5 Revolution that completed the fastest production car lap ran on street legal tires, used regular Shell pump ethanol, and was filled with standard Pennzoil fluids.
Right from launch, Hennessey set out to build ‘the Decathlete of Hypercars’. The objective for the 1,817 bhp twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V8 hypercar was not only to surpass 300 mph, but to also be a highly capable track car. Driven by the manufacturer’s in-house test driver, David Donohue, the Venom F5 demonstrated the extent of its capability pulling up to +1.59 G in the corners and -1.61 G under braking. This extreme performance was achieved on street-legal MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires and utilized Brembo brakes, carbon ceramic discs, and the latest Bosch ABS technology to brake from almost 200 mph safely and under control.
“Racing, and life, is often more about the journey than the destination. Seeing the Venom F5 take the production car lap record at our home circuit has been an important part of our journey with the F5. We don’t do these things because they are easy, we do them because they are hard. The process of pushing our American hypercar to the limits makes our team of engineers, designers, and technicians better while also delivering an enhanced product and experience to our clients. We look forward to continuing the journey and pushing the Venom F5 to set new speed records in the future.”

That car sounds like a monster
Enjoyable sound
It sound slike every other turbo LS car in the world...
Like a monster, roaring twister, may I add
I was standing trackside when this was running. It sounded incredible, even in direct comparison to the GT3 cars that were sharing the track at the time.
Nah more like a American Bold Eagle RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH @@SSCTuataraStriker
I feel like from this video that there is a lot more pace left in this car, it looks like it handled this track with an incredible amount of ease. Amazing achievement!
felt like it has no aero in the corners but 180 on the back straight over comes all.
There's not that much left out there. You're confusing the fact he's driving it smoothly. If it was pushed much harder the tires would be shot
No I agree. Even though the driver did an amazing job and drove so smoothly that it makes it appear slower than it is.... there is for sure extra time left on the track.
Hell, look at T1 and the turns around thr 1:00-1:30 mark. It is fast but just sorta meandering into the turns.
Watch the video again and look at the GeForce meter.
@@UnoDos96 That's because the car doesn't have full slicks and is running on road tires. A car with that much power cannot be driven to the extent of heating road car tires over their operating range. He's driving it to the limit of one hot lap. This is not a GT3rs, it's a car with the potential of spinning it's rear tires in every gear. Why do you think he's holding off the throttle until the straight when the car has the right exit to use the traction? It's the fastest way because it gains most of the time down the straight. If the driver pushed the tires on every corner, it would run out of grip for the exit onto the straights. I don't understand why some individuals don't fathom this. You can actually see by the end of the lap, the tires cannot do much more. It has more than three times the power of a Porsche GT3rs and weighs more or less the same!! What do you think this is going to do to the rear tires when. it's running road legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2r tires? The tread block is moving around like jelly with that kind of performance.
Lets be serious here although impressive, the car world only acknowledges nurburgring lap time records... Take it to Germany.
You know it’s gonna be like the Viper ACR break a whole bunch of lap records and save the ring for last.
@@G2Merica The Viper ACR was a beast tho. This however is just great for straight lines. And this track is basically straight after straight with a bit of very fast corners inbetween, so no wonder a car with loads of hp would take a record on such a track. Nordschleife is much more cornerbased tho, it would totally look like a loser there, it seemed like an elephant through some corners already on this track.
Rarely heard bullshit like that.
And I say that as a German.....
@@chrisgoat6435couldn't have said it better.
It’s their home track, that’s why they wanted it there.

This car wasnt pushed all the way and thats scary, basically half of the lap off throttle, tyre didnt squeal once no late braking, literally coasting through the first S’s. Madness
You have to remember at full output more than 1550 hp, even at 7000 rpm.
The tires need to be able to handle that.
It is about what the suspension and tires can put on the road.
Awesome car.
Thank you for noticing that and on street tires imagine that thing in full race trim.... 🤔😱🤯
I wonder could have the gear ratio been changed too for a track with tricky corners like this
Yeah maybe... Or perhaps it doesn't actually have the downforce to go flat through parts of the track..
Seems likely for a road car with 1.5x F1 power @@divinasi0n

@@dmitri546 Of course an F1 takes a corner faster than a street-legal production car. No need to compare.
I did a 2:13.9 in my R8 GT4 during an SRO race. Pirelli slicks. 2:10 on street tires is nuts for a production car.
would look completely different on a track like Laguna Seca or Nurburgring GP
Why?
There's definitely more in it. What a machine! Can't wait to see what is next.
That's what I said... he's not even trail braking! Let Max Verstappen drive it and 1 sec min will be shaved off

Nascar Cup series record 2:11.59... Yes cup cars don't have as much power and are limited, but they are also on slicks purposely designed for that track. The F5 is on street legal tires. The P1... was 7 seconds slower. Wouldn't mind seeing Tavarish have the Stig take the P1 he's building to Cota on street legal tires and see what it could do.
129.635 (94.696 MPH) in the final round to earn his first pole of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. But still amazing for the F5
@@x...CrankyOldMan...x With how much seat time around that track in similar vehicles? Vs a car you could buy and drive on the street with street legal tires. I am very curious what it would be able to do on race tires with a driver that has a lot of COTA experience.

Just from looking at the lap driven that day: There‘s A LOT of more speed and potential in that car.
Don’t get me wrong, the lap was quick, no doubt about it, but there were quite a few places where David didn’t push at all.
So I‘m really looking forward to see a lap faster than the 2:10.90min and yes, please bring the car to our lovely Nordschleife and let a Nordschleife professional on the steering wheel 😉

Give Max Verstappen about 10 laps in that thing and watch the lap time go from 2:10.90 to 1:58

Incredible performance on the dry lap; also absolut nice design.. A real dream. (can be faster, with less turbo lag, a bit of weight reduction and with a faster gear transmission)

Lap record with that driving? Impressive car.
It can easily go another 3s faster though:(
NICE! Congrats Team Hennessey!
Absolutely awesome, one of my favourite cars.
I think a good place to break the 300 mph barrier without leaving the states would be rogers dry lake bed. Now it’s on Edwards air force base in California, but the fact that you managed to reserve the shuttle landing strip at Kennedy I am confident that you could possibly test the f5 at Edwards. Also rogers dry lake bed was were the sound barrier was first broken by chuck Yeager. Many aircraft especially those that go Mach 3 have landed on that lake bed, such as the xb70 Valkyrie, the space shuttle and the x-15. It would be the perfect place for a 300 mph+ test run.
It probably needs to be done on pavement to qualify.
what about that stretch of road that koenigsegg used in nevada

William Byron made a 2:09.636 lap during qualifying for the Cota nascar race on sunday. Im suprised this car didnt beat that! Since it has much more power and downforce.
Street tires sure are limiting the Venom F5. Very impressive lap!
Hp isn’t everything the nascar isn’t street legal like the f5 is
Despite the way it may appear, it makes less downforce than a nascar does in its road circuit configuration, so the only advantage is really the power and weight. nascars also have signifigantly better tires, and they are race cars at the end of the day, its not that surprising
@@aceofaces1506 of course if the venom f5 is a huge success then they ought to make a Le Mans or nascar variant.

Congrats, very impressive!
Just watching the vid...I think the new Koenigsegg Jesko Attack will shave off 10sec from this laptime - lol
just brutal acceleration and amazing sound, congrats!
Side thought, just like running on goodwood, the car moves a bit, is it because of the suspension or just too much power to handle?
i think it has been setup this way for traction and straight line stability.. with an overtly stiff car unless you're on marble smooth tarmac 1500+ hp will be a... erm... challenge 😅
Bravo on street tires! definitely looks like it wants to go so much faster in the corners!
You guys make real cars. Thank you so much for being real. I wanna own one of your products soon one day.
Wow, that's impressive. Would love to see if Jesko could beat that :) (I adore both)
So this is at a lower map setting as the cars acceleration is down fron the run at the space center but it makes sense as 1800hp is hard to tame, congratz hennessey.
Saw one of those at Barrett Jackson back in January. They were revving the engine and making some awesome sounds with the nearly 2k HP.
The braking at the end of the main straight is phenomenal. 190mph to 60 in seconds.

Hennessey is a changed man. Christian von Koenigsegg set the record straight on how to be a hypercar manufacturer, and ever since then John has clearly coveted Koenigsegg's respected, revered image and mindset, chasing it with ferocity and resolve. Something that probably just started out as hate. There's pride to be had in building fast cars and making sure the costumer gets everything they dreamed of, and even what they didn't. The legacy it brings is worth the effort.
