Yeah for 3 million, you would expect to get something that doesnt run on kit-car number plates. Something with airbags, something which has legal VIN / Chassis numbers. This is not... A real "hypercar" and its not worth anything close to millions of dollars as long as it has to run on kit-car plates. With a dragster-tuned Corvette engine.

American hypercar, indeed. Remember the previous "American hypercar" ?? The SSC Tuatara? It quickly turned out to be just a tuned Corvette engine with nothing CLOSE to the claimed performance. The only difference is that Hennessey F5 was built in England by Delta Motorsport, while the SSC Tuatara (which is bankrupt now) got built in Italy by a LeMans racecar company. So they may well be good cars. But they are zero % American. So "AMERICAS HYPERCARS" both of them, are not road legal cars in any country, and also not American.
@@GSCinquanta There are not many Tuataras... They managed to build 2 or 3. And then the Italian LeMans racing company that 100% built them... Pulled out of the project. Probably because they didnt want to be part of this american scam. When SSC got busted faking that world record, the Italian LeMans racing company took SSC off their website, and I believe they have since pulled entirely out of the project. So Hennessey F5 and SSC Tuatara. The scam they are running is that they pay these foreign race car companies 1-2 million dollars a pop to make cars for them. Then they ship these cars over to America in crates. In crates with ready-built parts. So that the Americans can just rent a warehouse (like SSC does) or use their tuneshop warehouse like Hennesey does, where they have 6 cornfed local boys screwing these crates together to a finished car.Using all these ready built crates. They do this because then they dont have to impor tax them as cars. And then they can legally call the car "American built" So that they can get kit-car number plates on them. So they are professionally built by experts in Italy and England, but to an American standard. So ZERO crash testing, no emissions certification, no health & safety, no federalisation, no nothing. Because in America you can put kit-car number plates on anything. The cars dont even have airbags. Why dont they have airbags on a 2-3 million dollar car? Because if they have airbags, then they would have to be responsible for the airbags deploying properly, which means crash testing, and federalisation for insurance and liability rates, and its a lot of expensive testing and paperwork. And they use Corvette engines that are FAR from the performance numbers they claim. To get their wild HP numbers, they would have to run them on bio ethanol and stuff. And even then they can only do a couple of drag strip runs and hten its over. They cannot DRIVE on the full power. Its just a Corvette engine after all. So yeah. They screw together car parts that come in crates from England (Hennessey F5) and Italy (SSC Tuatara) and then they CLAIM they are all-american hypercars. And then they pay 1-2 million bucks to the companies that really built the cars, and then they slap a 1-2 million dollar profit on top of them. So thats the scam. Hennessey is a known scammer. If you're geared so low that you can wind out top gear past peak power rpm, you're never hitting your potential top speed. Imagine only having your bottom 3 gears

@@blablah538 If I understand it correctly, you're saying two cars with different gear ratios will have different power outputs, if that's so, then I don't think that's true because a Chiron/Chiron Sport with 1500PS and Chiron Pur Sport with 1500PS have different gear ratios. The Pur Sport have shorter gear ratios for better acceleration while the Chiron/Chiron Sport has longer ratios for a higher top speed of 261mph. But if you can correct me, then you're free to do it as well.
@@GSCinquanta No. I'm saying your engine has a power curve and if you're not gearing for peak power engine speed at top speed, you don't hit top speed. For example, if your drag profile and peak power @ 7500 rpm suggest a top speed of 180, you need gear ratios that put you at 180 when you're at 7500 rpm. If you're geared so low that you can wind out top gear past peak power rpm, you're never hitting your potential top speed. Imagine only having your bottom 3 gears
Sean,I was next to a Hennessy Viper over the weekend up here in Sacramento, I was next to him in my ISF. He gave me the nod, and I gave him one too, I was thinking to myself man what is John up to these days?
What is ISF?
@@danmyers9372 Lexus IS F it’s a 5 L V-8 forged internals, 11 to 1 compression 2 oil scavengers, it has titanium intake valves, and the engine takes 10 quarts of oil that Lexus Maybe made I think 5000 of our cars.
@@danmyers9372performance variant of a Lexus IS sedan
" what a car !" 👏
What a beast!
Is the steering wheel awkward to drive with?
Not at all which was surprising
Steering yokes in road cars are just jackass in-general.
Now this is special! Freaking love the color! The design is absolutely stunning. Very very cool to see you do a video on this one!
Awesome Shawn ........ Amezing Craftsmanship............ Greetings from india🇮🇳🤠🤠🤩🤩🙌🤘🏻
Nice work big bro I can almost say the one that got away but you brought it to us
The “Yeah we have… they I think…” 🕵️♂️ 18:42
Scott look like an older version of Jeremiah from Donut Media lol! Or like his dad or something lol but great car and video guys!
You may have seen him in some movies. He had a pretty big role in Lone Survivor. Cool guy for sure
@@AutotopiaLA I think I've seen that movie before but not quite sure. Now I'll have to check it out. And Scott does seem like a super chill guy. But when you're living the life he's living. I would be too lol.
I feel like I'm watching an ad for a car with way too much hype.
Do I like this type of car? no. Is the format of this show so good that i will watch it and enjoy it anyway - yes.
-But is this the real thing? No.
This is a great example of a car that is truly turned up to 11!
Definitely a beast...
Man I know your channel is all about Classic Restomods and Classic muscle vehicles but I have really wanted to see some true Super and Hypercars on this channel. Most of the channels that review hypercars and supercars are kinda nerdy in nature and not true car guys. I would love to see you review stuff like that Saleen S7 and maybe even get a Calvo Viper on your channel. THAT would be a treat, especially for you since they are based out of California. These Gen 5 vipers usually have about 2500-3500 hp and the guy does so much work to them they don't spin. It is a soul changing experience. I know myself I want to build my own luxury sport car line. I'm tired of European cars dominating the space.
I’d love to shoot an S7! Still a favorite of mine
Amazin car! Now the time for SSC Tuatara!
Hey really liked the super car show and keep up the good work
Continue varying your topic it will expand your viewer base. Don’t be afraid to go outside your norm 👍
Thanks for the input here
Center stack reminds me of what GM should've done with the C8. 😂 😏
what a car what a car
is this the one up for sale on bring a trailer right now?
Bring more exotics on the show… all car’s appreciated 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
We may add some more here
@@AutotopiaLALamborghini aventador
koenigsegg price but not even half the car. I get what they are doing and Im looking forward to seeing future endeavors by Hennessy. But id get a Jesko instead.
of course you'd get a jesko instead, you'd be an idiot to choose this 🤣 this car is for patriotic suckers
Playing a radio while riding in a car like that is sacricarlegious. The exhaust note alone is worth the cost of a new Corvette.
How about a follow up interview with Mr. Hennessey?
Would love that and even better would be on their proving grounds to be able to put some power down
3 million id have a collection of cars classic muscle, retro mod, full race, & daily driver for that cheedar😂
Does this mean that Hennessy doesn't scam his customers?
Pa dum pa!
Well he's still in business, and customers still send their cars to him, so if he is still scamming, then no one knows about it. Back when he was pulling parts off one customers car to put on another he exacerbated the situation by being a dick on his social media and forum accounts. I'd assume his reputation is still intact
Are you the same person you were 20 years ago?
@@poly_g6068 would you spend 3mil on a car from a guy who had that rep 20yrs ago?
Not a lot of people heard about him before that scam. One could argue it may have even helped his business long term. Any publicity is good publicity.
To each their own, 3 mil you can have a nice car, house, vacation for years and early retirment. My own built foxbody is my dream car.
Build a 347 stroker
People in the market for this car already have those things. It’s not either or.
Damn man you have that on them nice California roads and still don't even rip it on the straight..😁
SSC has been making hyper cars for a long time though you just never see them the ultimate aero was insane and there new one the name I can even say is a work of art
Absolute eye candy
I know its near Burbank where exactly is this bridge in California. Leno and Need for Speed mase it famous.
What a great channel this is!
Thank you!
I was gonna ditch this vid because of the $3M tag but the beat got me...
Top of the mountain right there.
How can you spend all that time on your own ground up build. Then look at the box the gauge screen came in & go (We can just glue that on the dash…) ?
Couldn’t click this fast enough
Awesome!
Holy shit
I said that a few times driving this
OMG Sean!! I would need a smoke and a shot after that drive! CONGRATS MY MAN! Us mere mortals are so jealous!! Good for you and PLEASE keep up with your amazing channel and experiences!
My problem is where I get it serviced if I'm in New Hampshire? And if heaven forbid I do body damage can I take it to my local shop, or does someone from Hennessey send a team to fix it.
Great review as usual! You’ll never own one and I’ll probably never see one…😊
Thank you. And you’re probably 100% accurate
Surprised they didn't make the windshield wiper go from hood to roof like other high top-speed cars have done.
"This car hates me!" LOL
Should have had Dave come drive it!! 😂
lol!
I love Hennessey products. They have a big passion like You Shawn reviewing and showing us so many beautiful vehicles. Great episode. Greetings
I always thought that the Hennessey Venom was actually a Car of another name that just Hennessey "used" to make that car... wasn't it really just a modified Alfa Romero or something like that?
I think Steven Tyler of Aerosmith has or had one.
Thinking about it, I think I watched Steven Tyler sell his at Mecum or Barrett Jackson for a huge hunk of Change a few years ago.
it was a modded lotus elise, which means this f5 s technically his 1st car... for 3mil. the 1st one was a reliability nightmare, tyler's stalled out on him in a video
The Hennessey Venom was just a Chop-shopped Lotus Exige, yes. Just a chopshopped Lotus with a Corvette engine. The work was done in England by the same company that made this F5 car. its NOT a real road legal car.
Awesome video and car but i think we were all waiting for that thing to scream! Oh well will have to wait to see it on track
For 3 million, I'm buying a Koenigsegg.
But this was made by real engineers…. 😊
LOL
Yeah, I would never buy this koenigsegg all the way
Then buy it
The guys who can buy this type of cars can buy both of them 😂
Love the looks but that's why Bugatti is amazing all that weight all that comfort and still faster car
If you're talking about faster as in higher top speed, then weight doesn't have an effect on top speed.
Pour une première hyper car les américains ont assuré
J'espère un jour en voir en voir une en France
I'm sure it's a great car , but anyone who pays $3 million dollars for that needs a brain transplant .
Its single clutch since there is no off the shelf dual clutch from any supplier that will handle the torque.
Does it get to be called a Hypercar if it has a boosted LS? $3 million for a boosted LS and a single clutch transmission rough.
It’s considerably more than a “boosted LS”
If I'm spending $3M, then I'm getting the color that I want.
Beatyfull car but, shawn, no 5 point seat belts i cant believe that .assom only 1850 hp .is that on e85 or 93 pump gas.
It was on 100 octane
I lobe the f5 only other car that beafs it tho is the mclaren solus gt or p1
I love not knowing Shawn from a straight on the street but still having full confidence that he has to be genuinely one of the nicest people in the world. Love that dude.
The video says $3 million but the market doesn’t seem to agree. This exact car has been on Bring a Trailer for a couple months now and the bidding hasn’t gone past $1.85 million for a month now
Do the SSC Tuatara with Jerod Shelby
This thing is sick but I'll never understand roadsters/convertibles. I don't even like sun roofs and stuff lol. Only slick tops and carbon roofs.
