    The Venoms a modern day Shelby Cobra if you think about it. Big ass American engine and a lightweight British car.

      I mean yes in terms of the performance and specs, but unlike the cobra people didn't have to give an arm and a leg to buy one. Which i think is a little sad

    People who say the Venom GT is just a "kit car" with a big motor stuffed into it need to watch this video, see the incredible detailing and craftsmanship of the car, and hear this amazed Brit's comments and reactions. I hadn't watched this video for several years now, but watching it again tonight, I fell in love with this beast all over again. Bravo, John Hennessey!

      Hennessey venom GT is a V8 427, yep. The 2016 viper has a 8Liter V10, and as far as I know both are still OHV, which is the least efficient tech out there. Dirt simple, tough, reliable, exact, but slowish and unable to hit high revs without risk.

    In the hypercar world, I'd say the most opposite brands are Hennessey and Koenigsegg. Raw and brutal power to accomplish incredible speed vs beauty and science to accomplish incredible speed. Yet both with similar stories, and identical goals. Small companies started by one man's vision. It's the passion the 2 men have that make these my absolute favorite hypercar brands. Forget where you are they are from, it's impressive as it is exciting.

      you can not compare a complete state of the art corporation like konissegg to a performance shop called Hennessey.
      he clearly said it on the video he didn't mean to reinvent the wheel he just wants fast. this project would of never happen if it wasn't for the customer who actually bought the rights to the first venom.
      real one vision companies risk all or nothing like huricio pagani not build upon others idea.

    It's not built for luxury, or to be the fastest around a track most people will never even see let alone drive on. It's built for speed, for driving pleasure. It is a pure driver's car. That's how it should be. Absolute perfection.

    These comments are great! First off. Of course a Koenigsegg is better. They have much different ideals. Such as making the best super car. Hennessy has created possibly the best performing car. There is a big difference. Also Koenigsegg's are about science and innovation. Hennessy is about using parts that work to make a very reliable car. If you want exclusivity and speed get a Koenigsegg. If you want to be the fastest and have the most reliable car get the Hennessy. Personally I love Koenigsegg's but you have to respect the Venom.

    John hennessey is not trying to take credit for the body design of the car. In fact he clearly states this in other videos. He also states that he just wanted the lightest car to go with his engine. He's not claiming he designed the body.... But "just wants to make the fastest production super car". And he's done this. Appreciate it for what it is...bad ass. Nothing more.

    • @musclecars4evr799

      I dunno. Seems pretty original to me. I'm pretty sure its his design.....unless somebody else has already done it. And as far as"all he has done has tune a corvette engine" goes......ahhhhhh ya...... I've never seen a corvette engine like that. If that were the case I may actually lose to a corvette. And if all you have to do is "tune" a corvette engine to be like this.....how come all corvette owners don't do it instead of crying every time they lose on utube?. And he does say he buys a lotus and sends it to england....even matt farah states this. So what????..... The thing is amazing. I ddont think john hennessey is a piece of shit for giving us the greatest super car to ever be allowed on the road..... I think he just had an amazing idea that he put into action. So much hostility on utube. Taker down a knotch....

    I think people really didn't listen to the review. The car is refined. As refined as a 1.5m hypercar, not quite but he puts it above the carrera GT which is a high standard in my book. Plus, most people don't know how well that car handles. On the Nurburgrinng, it would eat million dollar hybrids for lunch. :)

      True, but it doesn't compare to the way *professional* drivers throw around the 918 and p1. Chris Harris drifts the hell outta the p1. IMO the way a car drifts says a lot about its balance and feel. You can't put that on paper. Anyone can slap 350+mm tires on a light weight car and call it grip.

    Whether the parts are American made or not is negligible. The fact is, that this American(Texan) had the capability to put a car together that would compete or surpass the big boys is amazing.
    This small company doesn't have the financial means to create the tooling to produce every part. They obviously have the knowledge to do so though. So much butthurt.

      MrGimmethreesteps
      How? Please back that statement up with some facts. Everywhere else, engines ae getting smaller, and more powerful. Induction design, cam timing, combustion chamber design and what not, not to mention forced induction. Its about efficiency, and fact is, that the bigger the engine, the less efficient it will be. First and foremost due to parasitic loss. Let's put it like this. A 350 BBC making 1000 C_bhp compared to a 700 tall deck BB making 2000 hp, where both engines are "identical" in the sense that they are using the same boost, idle vacuum, manifold pressure, induction velocity and so forth, so that they are equal, the 700 is just scaled up, so to speak. If you want that to put out 2000 C_bhp, you will need an engine that is built to be "way more powerful" in its build, if you understand what I'm saying. I don't mind big V8's, they have their place. I love the 565's I have in my boat, but there are other ways of doing things. Why do you think Ilmor Marines MV-8 570 hp 454 cid. makes more power than Mercury Racing's 532 cid. 565 hp engine, over the entire rev range, and burn approx 10 GPH less? There's a reason why Volvo Penta has discontinued all their BBC based engines, and are now using LS platforms. They produce more power and are more fuel efficient. If you really want to see what can be done when it comes to torque, look at these high performance engines used in the go-fast powerboat market. Sure there's a ton of 632's around, but more and more now swear by 523, 540, 557, 565 and 598's. These machines need both torque and power, but the builders can make better power with the "smaller" engines. LS platforms with VVT and direct injection are the next thing. Besides, the most powerful serial produced boat engine currently made for a go-fast application, is the Merc 1650. Guess what? It's a 557 DOHC engine, and even in its 1100 hp incarnation, it is EU legal when it comes to emissions. The Venom is not legal in several states, and not eligible for sale in the EU or GB. Not even sure it can be driven in most developed Asian countries.
      But alas, the biggest problem with the Venom is, that you'll have to buy the car from the biggest fraud in the high performance industry. Who knows, they might just supply you with a stock LSA or LS7 with a manifold and turbos bolted on. You know, like all the instances where John Hennessey supposedly sold punched out stroker engines in the 650R Vipers, and people only got a cam and an ECU with all stock internals etc. Not to mention when he parted out new customer cars and put worn parts back on. Are you sure that you want to fork out one mill, of your money to that guy, and then have to rely on his "service" and "know-how" as well? I wouldn't give the deadbeat water if he was on fire. Before you state that this is just hear-say, you should do a little research on Mr. Hennessey. I know more than one person personally, who has gotten taken by that creep.

      aiG, that's not true. This car presents a factor of overpower that is NOT amenable to racing. If this type of HP was needed, it would be in cars from the mfg already. We have to keep an idea of the technical in mind here. This company builds NOVELTY horsepower cars that will, possibly, do straight-line mile speeds better than many, but the DO NOT build track-racing steeds, nor do they build cars with the finesse to run race courses well.
      It is fascinating, but overdone for racing. Not that that's a farce on their part, but we have already reached the limits of tires with far, far less power and much more technique.

      I dont know why you think it has a lotus body or frame, everything is completely new, do you think they would leave the frame from a Lotus? They made a new car, and because of the first designs made it still look like a Lotus, John said it several times, the only thing that is from Lotus are the doors and A/C. Everything else is made new, and from carbon fibre, and you cant just swap it with something from Lotus. The suspension, frame and everything is made by them. I would also like to see how it handles on the track, 1244 kg is a really amazing weight compared to the huge engine and power. I hope someone gets it and puts it on the track.

There are 1000s of cars faster than a Venom but no production car officially faster than a Chiron

    $1-million for a car, and you can't even get the steering column covers to line up and require a random drywall looking screw to hold them together. 12:06 was this car painted with a sponge? I expect this from a cheap commuter car of the 90's, but we're talking hypercar money here and he can't even get the paint on flat. There's no weight excuse for it either, it's simply cutting corners in typical Hennessey fashion.
    Anyone who would purchase this over something like a P1 or a Koenigsegg is a fool.

      drantcg I hear what your saying, but to some, luxury and finesse aren't always what drivers want in a performance vehicle. Most real hardcore race drivers want an *ANALOGUE* (meaning no computer to cradle you in safety, it's an actual STICK-shift, rear-wheel drive, and no anti-skid to pull the power away from you) hypercar.

    • @cybertree
      @cybertree 9 лет назад +3

      drantcg Look at it this way: it's a hypercar that you are fully in control of...period, do you think ANYBODY is going to give 2.5 shits about some microscopic orange peel? No, they will be distracted by the breathe-taking shape and performance, as well as the superior sound and shock factor of an unleashed beast. Plus women won't even know what orange peel is lol, fuck all that bs that italian car companies use to trick into thinking it's more fun, or more "refined" with their noses in the air. I'd tied between the Koenigsegg one and this though, they're both raw hypercars.

    • @MrCdrant
      @MrCdrant 9 лет назад +1

      cybertree It's relevant and indicative of poor build quality. If what's on the outside is sub par, what's on the inside likely is as well. Doesn't help that Hennessey is well known in the tuning world to fail on delivering promises, and in some cases flat out lying to customers on what they're paying for and getting. Unfinished builds, parts missing and customer cars used as test beds without consent. Is that really someone you want to write a cheque this big to? No thanks, I'll give my money to a place that isn't relying on ignorant customers who look at a theoretical top speed and get suckered in.

    • @MrCdrant
      @MrCdrant 9 лет назад +1

      cybertree Race drivers? The target buyer for this car are the super rich who will likely drive this car once or twice a year, hardly the types that should be at the control of a hypercar with minimal driver aids.
      The lack of driving aids and advanced technologies is also a result of being built by a tuner, not a car builder. They're incapable of building a transmission like Bugatti or a hybrid power plant like Ferrari/Mclaren/porsche.

    To all of you saying it uses to many Lotus parts, the F1, Pangani and Zonda use engines from either Mercedes or BMW. The Veyron uses an engine made and used in a Volkswagon Passat. The heart and soul of any real car is the engine. If you don't believe me, just ask any Ferrari owner.

    • @Tippotipo
      @Tippotipo 9 лет назад +13

      +Freddie B That is because Venom GT is a modified US spec Lotus Exige nothing more. The mention of F1, Zonda and Bugatti with their respective engine from manufacturer means both BMW, Mercedes and VW have their expertise at building the engine. The BMW V12 is exclusively for McLaren F1, AMG V12 engine was specifically made for Pagani and the Quad TurboW16 engine is exclusively for Bugatti (being part of VAG). From your own logic then, Ferrari is just a Fiat.

    • @fredeb67

      Freddie B Number does not tell that Venom GT is just a modifed Lotus Exige i.e. basically a kit car.Total made is 11 because the company Delta Motorsports stopped the whole Venom GT according to a local living near the factory.
      When you mentioned the case of Veyron engine, Bugatti SAS is a division of VAG. Both Pagani and McLaren made the body unlike Hennessey.

They can and do sacrifice safety and reliability for performance and they also adjust the car for the tests they are doing to get best results. That exactly what was done on that 0-190 run where they did lots of test launches, adjusted the car, remapped the boost levels, again test launches, adjusted the traction management, more test launches etc.

    I more and more feel, that videos and written pieces, of very exclusive car makers are less neutral and far more "ass kissing", then from "conservative" car makers. It is obvious, that it is very special to drive a car, which is above the $1m mark - and produced in very low numbers.
    Until now, only Top Gear really mocked Koenigsegg - which obviously was a good thing - because since then, they turned things around, and developed cutting edge stability systems.
    What I am missing, when I am seeing a piece like this, is a comparison, something with sense. For me personally it doesn't make a lot of sense, to spend that much money on a Venom GT. Yes - they fitted [properly] a break system, power steering and the monstrous engine into it. And they had to add a lot of custom made stuff. But using a chassis of a sub $60K to make a $1.2M super car is... absurd.
    Second, it really doesn't sound that great - very tuner car.
    I also wanted to see it performing on a race circuit - the Veyron isn't maybe the fastest anymore, but it still is a bullet - and except maybe of the straight line, it might still have advantages.
    And lets face it: these are land-yachts - something to show off, it has horsepower, not to use it, but to be just the king of the road... I think, the Venom GT is not really suited there, when compared with Bugatti, Pagani, Koenigsegg...

    • @Dominikmj
      @Dominikmj 9 лет назад +6

      Cody Grimm your comment is immature!
      And there are better options out! Not necessary faster in a straight line - but definitely just better!
      Starting with the Veyron, going over to the triplets (from another mother :) ] of hybrid hypercars, to Pagani's etc.
      And I really value Hennessey's motivation to do this car - however the price tag just doesn't make sense!
      It just isn't a Koenigsegg, where every single part is made off amazing substances in house, This car could cost about 300 or 400 grands and I wouldn't say anything. Maybe 500 or 600 - given its power. But above 1 million? You have to be retarded [or you have everything already] to buy it!

    • @jaybelle532
      @jaybelle532 9 лет назад +2

      if you would listen, everything from the doors back is completely new new and custom built... Including the chassis. it would be complete absurdity to use the stock chassis for 5 times horsepower, and that's why John Hennessy did not

    • @Dominikmj
      @Dominikmj 9 лет назад +1

      jaybelle532 Well - you weisenheimer, this is pretty much what I said! But there was definitely a reasonable part, which was Lotus. And here is the problem - the Elise is just too cheap, to be only even the face of a plus 1M car.
      So I didn't said, that you are paying 1M for a Elise, neither did I said, that it is a bad car... but no, you are not right - it is not completely new... otherwise it wouldn't look like that, and it wouldn't use ANY Lotus parts!

    • @fredeb67

      +Dominik MJ (opinionated alchemist) Does the F1 have a Mercedes engine or a BMW? The engine is the heart and soul of a car. If you don't believe me just ask any Ferrari owner.

    • @Dominikmj
      @Dominikmj 9 лет назад +1

      Freddie B First: who is talking about the McLaren F1? Even though.. yes, the McLaren F1 engine is a custom made BMW engine.
      If it comes to the venom (I guess you meant this car), it is a GM tuned and customised GM engine.
      And I agree to a certain extend, that the engine is the heart of a car [I don't agree, that you should ask a Ferrari owner... what is the specific pedigree of these people? Most of them have just enough money and are not even petrol heads - much less anyway, than people who own other exotic brands].
      But a car is certainly more than the sum of its parts and more than its engine. A great engine [again, it is not that a AMG or BMW engine are any worse... just ask Pagani, Wiesmann, Morgan, Ascari, Aston Martin...).
      So what do you want to say with your comment?

      I guess it's all subjective in the end, the car is without doubt a road going missile. Personally if I was going to drop $1.2 million on a car I wouldn't want it to look like a $50,000 Lotus Elise that's been tuned (all be insanely) and more like a bespoke masterpiece such as a Pagani Huayra or other such Hyper car. ggah97 you can buy a ford mustang (or anything else in that price range) and put a 2,000 hp TT V8 motor in it, change the suspension, tires, trans, etc for around $100,000. if you want a fast car, you don't need $2.5 million. that's why Veyron fans are idiots

    what makes him think he can just sell the venom gt for a million dollars just because it goes a couple miles per hour faster than a Bugatti or the agera r its suddenly now worth a million dollars? no the Bugatti and agera r have luxury and class and look far better the Hennessy just has the speed that is it. That peace of shit car shouldn't be worth anything more than 2 or 300k.

    Generally its a technical inspection where they check that everyting is in order like is there anything worn and wobbling in suspension sytem, measure the braking power and if the discs or pads need to be changed, check the emissions, check if under the car anything isn't rusted through etc. Modifications are not allowed - I mean you can put better brakes on car but power ehnhacing things are not allowed. So tuners have to change parts back to original for the inspection time to pass.

  • @brudel001
    @brudel001 11 лет назад

    Also on of the very important thing is how the car actually behaves when going fast. For example veyron doesn't give you a whiplash at every gearchange, its extremely stable at its topspeed - it doesn't rattle or shake or anything unlike other supercars that feel like falling apart when reaching their limit. Even Jay Leno who is a one of those "proud americans" understands the difference between just powerful robustly fast car and powerful, very sophisticated and precisely engineered fast car.

      Anyone can dump more fuel into a cylinder to make more horsepower. The hp/l argument is for noobs that don't know what the hell they're talking about or people that live in countries where tiny engines are practically mandated. The Venom doesn't have a need to only be 5 liters.Thank god for that! The engine has fantastic power density and torque. The two engines are different animals, but you're probably too ignorant of power plants to figure this out. Tell the truth: You live in a country where 90% of the population drives tiny shit boxes with 1.5L to 2.0L engines, huh? Have you even driven a car with five liters of displacement?

      "The hp/l argument is for noobs that don't know what the hell they're talking about or people that live in countries where tiny engines are practically mandated" so you'd rather drive an 8 litre 600hp viper than a 3.8 litre 1800hp alpha 16 gtr
      "The Venom doesn't have a need to only be 5 liters" so by almost doubling the weight of the lotus with the engine is going to have no effect what so ever on the overall performance? you could make the same power to weight ratio with only a fraction of the power with modding the original lotus engine for a lot cheaper too
      "The two engines are different animals, but you're probably too ignorant of power plants to figure this out."...... v8 twin turbo vs v8 twin turbo........ yah ENORMOUS difference..... its like comparing a lemming to sputnik
      "Have you even driven a car with five liters of displacement?" no but i don't need to drive one since my 25 year old 2.6 litre 1989 R32 GT-R can smoke pretty much anything in real world conditions id love to see something like a viper or corvette TRY and keep up through the hills.

      What? The 918 is one that actually has its own developed engine, unlike the others (McLaren has the same old 3.8 engine from MP4-12C and Hennessey, using most boring supercar engine, LS7 w/ a twinturbo ofc.) + 918 pushes most atmospheric horsepower from N/A 4.6 V8. Btw P1 is hybrid too...

    • @JerseyMikeP
      @JerseyMikeP 6 лет назад +2

      I was talking about the POOR Porsche body designers. They have Zero imagination and just keep "playing with old body shapes". If you look at 918 pics next to carrera GT picks they are more similar than a post/pre updated mustang. 918 looks so Boring compared to the P1. They need someone out side to do the body...like Ferrari which can't design their own body and get pininfarina to do it.
      Also The first car porsche ever did was a hybrid...nothing new.
      'Btw P1 is hybrid too..." But they don't lose their hybrid power at high speed like the 918 does.
      Not to mention the 918 had a few recalls/issues.
      Hennessey is relatively new at doing a complete car....even Porsche scavenged of the VW beetle for years at the beginning.
      I had the chance for a free ride to Porsche factory school...but due to the customers that buy them, I went with BMW instead. Even the scholarship Porsche rep was a Obnoxious/DICK.

    Can't believe how much hate Hennessey Venoms get on almost every RUclips videos!!
    they're the fastest accelerating car, they proved more recently the Veyron SS still can't touch it. What's even more amazing is that people somehow insist the ONE:1 is faster, yet Koenigsegg haven't even proved the top speed, or the Agera for that matter.
    And oh of course! everyone thinks it's a lotus! how many other car companies use other companies engines for their cars? exactly. People can't accept that the Americans have made an awesome looking hypercar, injected it with sheer brute force of horsepower, and won. Brawn over brain this time, get over it Venom haters.

    • @SixCommunists
      @SixCommunists 8 лет назад +1

      ***** Wrong entirely. Do the research. The reason why the most recent record wasn't recognised at first was because they had built 16 cars not 30.
      All, and I mean all of the previous records it's held are in the production car catagory. You people can't seem to grasp that the shell is designed by lotus FOR Hennessey, this car is not a lotus, it's almost like you think all supercars have their own engines, they're always borrowed, the Zonda has a BMW engine for example. This car is a landmark, final.

    • @mennom3484
      @mennom3484 8 лет назад

      the Hennessey does 0-300 kph in 13-something seconds, the one:1 in 12,9 seconds.
      Whereas Hennessey takes the engine, gearbox and basic structure from other cars, Koenigsegg build every single thing themselves, innovating existing concepts along the way. Koenigsegg hasn't had the opportunity yet to test top speed, and to them this is not a big priority. Moreso are the build quality, circuit performance and configuring the car in the exact way the customer wants. Koenigsegg's attention to detail goes way beyond that of any other car manufacturer.

    I just went back to a page about the Koenigsegg ONE:1 and dropped a post about how the Venom GT is a sort of "ONE:1" after hearing the raw numbers finally about the Venom GT. 1244 kilograms, 1244 hp.
    And I also said how one of the online car magazines NEEDS to make a video about the Venom GT and the Koenigsegg ONE:1 going head to head. (They're claiming the ONE:1 is faster than the Agera R, and they claimed that car could do 280 mph, but no runs...). The Venom GT did 270 mph in one direction (so no return run, no Guinness record), but it actually went out on that NASA runway and hit 270 mph, while Koenigsegg just has claims.
    EVO, please make it happen!
    So both cars are "ONE:1's" but the Venom is lighter, i.e. less inertial forces to deal with, and it's really really time now for Koenigsegg to put his money where his mouth is (as opposed to customers putting down money for an Agera R or an example of the ONE:1 and just taking Koenigsegg's word for it about the 280 mph top speed).
    Oh it's on. (Did someone say it's on?) Oh yeah, it's on.

  • @thybigballs
    @thybigballs 11 лет назад

    The only thing in your post that I agree with is the cost. When I think of the Koenigsegg Agera R, the word "luxurious" does not come to mind. It's not a friggen Aston Martin or Bentley. It's a rocket on wheels. Put an umbrella in the door and install 10-way adjustable heated/cooled seats and I might reconsider.

    This guys delusional, it's just a Lotus with a Viper engine in it, it's just a kit car at best, they say China's the worlds capital for replicating? come on America, be a little bit more creative, like Koenigsegg, "build ya own supercars instead of building bin part supercars",... claiming it to be the worlds fastest car is comical, when it's never been driven up to it's acclaimed speed it's supposed to do,....lol... is why europe laughs at america, when it comes to, "americans and their cars",... "bespoke" in car terms means, create a hand crafted hand built from scratch item, it does not mean, take another manufactures creation, "Lotus car" along with another manufactures engine, "Chrysler Viper" chop n cut it all together, to then give it a new name, with a new price tag, to then stand back and say to everyone, this is my creation and I claim it to be the worlds fastest car that's out there,... this guy Hennessey, if he loves to brag that he builds the fastest cars on the planet, then why, doesn't he go and challenge and test himself with the land speed record, where the prestigious award of bragging rights are given to these for their engineering achievements,..... like Thrust SSC, with it currently being the land speed record holder,..... that being a true piece of bespoke craftsmanship, of engineering and design, is why us Brits are second to none.....

      Ben Daulton...Jaguar bespoke their own V8s the AJ133 engine which you'll find fitted in the F Type R Jaguar,..designed back in 2009,...so sorry, but yov've been miss informed....

      Ben Daulton...and your point is? Jaguar cars are not british owned,...Tata Motors own Jaguar cars, before them it was Ford Motors, back in 1997, it's true ford supply engines for Jag, but they are redesigned differently by Jaguar themselves, like the blocks have steel liners instead of fords Nikasil coated cylinders, they also changed the two-state Variable Valve Timing, for a more sophisticated system,...so yeah it starts out as a ford engine, but tweaked by Jaguar cars to comply with regulations that are set here in the UK, but'...my point was, not with Jaguar cars, but with Hennessey building bin part cars, to then put a figure you'd be paying for a P1 Mclaren, "which incidentally is British owned self engineered", being that was my point, in the first place, I couldn't careless about Jaguar cars, as the only Jag I'd ever consider if ever I was to buy one, is the E type only, as the rest of them are just ford component cars ... but like I say, Tata Motors own Jaguar cars, and not the uk,.... plus if you look into the history of the V8 engine, you'll find it all started with the French with Leon Levavasseur and his patent V8 injection engine, with also French born Victor Hemery back in 1905 setting the world speed record reaching a speed of a 109 mph with the car producing 200 bhp from a V8, wasn't until 1907 Hewitt Motors being the first American company to produce a V8, followed by De Dion-Boutons being the first to mass produce V8s being also built in America in 1909, with Ford producing V8s in 1932, but I think General Motors created V8s before Ford ever did...but do you see the picture drawn, all car manufactures own it to the French at the end of the day, and like most cars today, probably do use other manufactures engines, no doubt as it's a cheaper alternative than rather build a engine department plant, but being that Ferrari, Mclaren, Porsche, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg, all build in house engines,with also them designing their cars, unlike Hennessey doesn't, as he's just a car turner that being all he is, I'd rather see him build a car from scratch in stead of using other manufactures parts that he claims it to be his invention, but anyways, yup ya right in what you say, Jag cars using Ford engines, so my bad on that part, but you get the where I'm coming from, in respect of America engineering and building a brand of their own exotic supercars, meaning,..not using other manufactures parts, so peace out bro, and have a good day to ya...

      Where can I buy a Viper with 1200 bhp?

    • @wittwer427

      For starters, not a viper engine. The block is a LSX block, which is the 7.0L gm crate engine. From there everything is designed by hennessey. The turbos are custom engineered and built by them. The heads are their own design. All of it. Crank. Everything. Going on to the chassis. The chassis of the venom is built off of a lotus elise. Hennessey gets the frame and then hacks it up and extends its it a good bit and then has their own custom designed body panels and suspension added to it. If this is a kit car at best, then I dont know what kit cars you are familiar with. The largest similarity this shares with the lotus it was built out of is the vin number.

      Andrew Wittwer....and your point is? like I said, at best, it's just a tuners kit car, read about it in wikipedia....it states it's just a modified car, not a designed production car, it's not worth the money he demands, at best it's only worth about $80.000/100.000 if that....john hennessey is just a fraudster, that can only bolt on bigger components to other manufactures engines ...e.g...turbos, superchargers, to then claim, I'VE BUILT THE WORLDS FASTEST CAR.....Hahaha europe's finest engineers can only laugh at john hennessey as he's only known in europe,....as the frankenstein kit car builder ....sorry to break ya dream if ya thought hennessey was a car designer...now if hennessey engineering wants to impress people in europe with his so called engineering skills, lets see if he can produce a 1.6 litre v6 engine, that produces more than 900 or more hp without using other manufactures engines...ya probably thinking the same as me? ..... he wouldn't know where to start!...

    the viper was created by Bob Lutz and Tom gale, both of which worked at chrysler...and Boyd Connington, even though he did the chassis not the engine, he still bounced ideas around

    Every TROLL, bashing this car saying, "it's a Lotus", Must think the Shebly corba was a joke. Shebly Didn't do anything ZERO but put a motor in, Hennessey built a new rear sub-frame, modified 70% of the car to make this. It's More new than a Brabus "anything", Alpina "Anything"...so unless you've built something faster, GTFOH.

    Definition of a kit car: "an automobile that is available as a set of parts that a manufacturer sells and the buyer then either assembles into a car themselves, or retains a third party to do part or all of the work on their behalf." Lotus did not sell this as a box of parts for Hennessy to put together.
