What a great review from someone who actually rides a bike how it should be ridden, rather than just reading a spec sheet for 10 minutes. Loved every minute of it and your enthusiasm. Ps i have a V4 Pikes Peak and love it 😂🎉
The racing exhaust (full system) transforms this bike to a hooligan one :) It also resolves the issue with the 3rd gear 90+ km/h wheelies as it gives a little bit of torque in mid range.
Great review Smokey! I have a V4S and I agree with everything you said. I rode all of the contenders (BMW GS 1250, Triumph Tiger 1200 GT, KTM 1290 SAS, Harley Davidson Pan America). All were fine motorcycles with no bad choices. The Pan America, in my humble opinion, needs a few of years of refinement before it can fully compete with the others in the group. Still a nice ride, though. For me, the V4S was the perfect choice. Refined with a superb fit and finish, the Multi split the difference for me between the KTM and BMW. A smooth luxurious ride to a dirt rode exploration after which I blast through some twisties on the way home with an excess of power that scares a smile onto my face. Oh yes! That will do nicely.
Damn I love your name haha Multistrider , that is awesome! And totally agree , if I had to place it somewhere in the crazy/fun/comfort factor it would be in between the SAR/SAS and the BMW GS. I wonder what the new faster GS is gonna bring to the table! :-)
Maybe that the faster new GS expected to be launched in 2024, can bring a lot more features than what it offers now. And it’s only a question of time to be marveled by its evolution. My question is, at what price? Will it be considerably expensive compared to , for instance, the Multistrada V4S ? Will the price level the competition like it should? I wouldn’t mind to have more 20 or 30 Hp in the boxer engine, having that top end bettered, the adaptive cruise control is nice (I already know it from the RT), sure the blind spot light alert is an interesting feature to add, specially if you go on highway sections it would be useful ( and since we can disable the function for city riding as it is annoying to have on this environment, always blinking). I say this because in this segment, I never would choose the Multistrada. I could have a Ducati, like for instance the new Diavel V4 S. A bike of the brand that I really see myself riding. I tested the Multistrada V4S, not the Rally, but I didn’t identified myself with the ride. Didn’t felt right. Maybe the suspension, maybe the road choice of the tyres, I really don’t know, but it felt very different from the GS and GSA, and not in a good way. I have no special interest for any brand, I just love bikes . And this model didn’t had that “X” factor that impelled my will to have it. Didn’t enjoyed the looks of the dash that was very functional but not attractive to me in graphic terms or aesthetic. And didn’t find enjoying the sound of the engine until the 4500 rpm’s . I had been reading so many and nice review articles about this motorcycle and watched some videos too and they were all very positive about the bike, so I guess that the fault was on me, maybe I expected too much from all the information I got about the bike prior to test riding it. That’s what I think that happened with me here! good video, however, Smokey ✌️✌️
Another freaking cool video! Having lots of fun watching you 😂 I also have the SAR 2022 and I’d also love to have this Ducati parked in my garage next to my big K…. 😅

In Greece the price of the V4 rally is €31,000!! outrageously expensive! And the 1290 r has a price of €23,350!! the prices have skyrocketed!! In 2013 I bought the 1190s Adventure with €16,000! huge difference!
Hi Smokey! I have shared the video in the Multistrada Rally group, and I learned the following; It is a great video!! the only strange thing, and i don't know if bike will rise up on 3rd gear is that he had a high and very conservative level ot Traction Control even in sport mode. That can absolutly change the way the bike delivers power, so i would like to see it without DTC or with maybe level 1, then you can actualy see what the bike can do without that high level DTC.
If the traction control would be a problem it would not come up that high in 2nd gear or stay up when I go to 3-4rd gear right? Will ask my Ducati friends soon 😁👌. Thx for sharing Jan. Appreciate that!

Yes the customization of each mode is freaking awesome. I love my 1290SA-R but the one thing I miss, that my Multistrada had, is that ride mode customization. Why i got rid of it… 4 hours for a dang air filter change😡. Noooo thank you.
@@LifeofSmokey 😆 got to take the crash bars and lights off first, then all the plastic, tank ect. Maybe it was the beer but i did it 1 time and said to hell with that, I’m not a bike mechanic.
Damn i thought it cant get worse than on AT, but on AT if you dont have crash bars u can change air filters in about 30mins, taking off plastics isn't that bad/difficult
@@Angry-Lynx Yup I had an AT also but i got rid of it before they needed changed. My friend however, still has his and is due for new filters. I'm sure I will be helping him and he does have the Altrider bars that will have to be removed. My 1290 SA-R is 6 bolts and about 10 minutes or less to change.
Did you try wheelie with dtc on 4? Maybe thats whats cutting power for high speed wheelie, i noticed on my mt09 my traction control also cuts power when i try to clutch up at higher speeds kinda weird because in second gear he doesnt do that, to much nanny systems on these new bikes 😂
Nice review and good to hear it from the perspective of a seasoned KTM SAR rider. I think the big difference is the qualities of the V4 vs the big V2 in the KTM. Makes the HP and Rev range higher on the Multi but not sure that power is too usable in the upper reaches of RPM. I do want a bike that cruises well on the freeway so that seems to be advantage Ducati. Tough decision.
My SAR is good on the freeway but if you want it to be better you need the SAS. But then again the SAS wheels are not for off-road use so if in case you want to do some gravel road or easy parts off-road AND you want comfort and chill rides on the freeway I must say the Multi is the winner. 😁
