      99,93 % of your description was correct 👌 Note, horsepower is always the first number mentioned, but like cars, it's about pulling power, right? The Ducati has 121 nm torque, a GSA1200 from 2010 had 120 nm torque 🤔 yeaah I'm still bmw fan 🤭

    I have a multistrada 950S. I love the ducatis but in this comparation I think the mts is outmatched. LC8 is perhaps the best engine ever in the motorcycle industry. The SAR designs is different and I love the alien look. It have all the eletronic gadgets you need. And at then of the day the price difference, and everything that comes with it (ducati premium price in everything) breaks the deal

    This is only channel that puts up intriguing bikes against each other. Top brands like KTM vs Ducati. I live in Javea, Spain and fortunate to own a 2022 KTM SAS in all black with SC-Project exhaust and is savage and 2023 Ducati Multistrada PP. The KTM is Max Max brass knuckles Dakar fighter whereas the Ducati is that Mafia hitman Italian with refinement and a Valentino full piece suit. Both incredible, both unlike the other. I still intend to get that black Rally. That brushed aluminium tank. 🔥

      I agree. The KTM S is a better comparison, as they both have similar electronics. KTM S a better fuel range than the standard multi.

    • @LifeofSmokey
      @LifeofSmokey  Год назад +3

      Yes but have you seen how Ducati advertised this motorcycle? They used offroad videos also. Can't take the SAS as a comparison as it does not have a descent skid plate or wired wheels for crazy offroad bonanza 😁. But when it comes to electronics and suspension yes then it would be the S for sure. 😎

    • @LifeofSmokey
      @LifeofSmokey  Год назад +2

    One HUGE issue at least in USA on KTM is the horrible offset rear valve stem with tpms. Tpms sensors leak, when your actually offroad for multiple days carrying camping gear you don't have another 27 lbs for a offset tube.....in 41 dealers, across 11 states all motorcycle shops and dealers said "we never stock offset tubes".....so does the Ducati have offset rear valve stem? If not then it offers an advantage offroad as the KTM is not field serviceable.

  • @davidhyman157

    Cool that you've got these bikes together and covered some of the interesting bits.
    However, I found it dull with you just reading out all those specs, especially where so many are irrelevant or could quickly be summarised as "the same" (7mm is not 7cm!).
    Constructively, I would suggest you apply your passion as demonstrated for gloveboxes (totally valid!) to include other aspects of the bikes that also make a difference to ownership and riding. Like how much better the Ducati configurability is (DRLs, per-mode customisation etc) or how much better the KTM steering lock is (short press and hold at any time to lock, vs ... well ... just try doing that on the Ducati). Differences between CCs, controls, mirrors. Actively seek out stuff that's different between the two bikes and isn't listed on manufacturer websites. Maybe you need to spend some more quality time with the bike(s) before rushing out a comparison?
    BTW the centrestand lift is massively affected by the state that you leave the rear shock preload in - e.g. if you used the drop mode before parking. Try setting highest preload first.

    It's just that damn price ... Asked the local dealer for an identically equipped Ducati Rally with Alu panniers, crash bar, Akrapovic, etc, to my 3 year old shiny new looking 1250 GSA with Akrapovic and a plethora of aftermarket stuff (like Denali lights, sound bomb, brake-lights, heated seats, touring screen, etc., etc. etc.) and the price I'd need to pay on top is more than they would trade my BMW in for 😲😲😲 ... Makes the Ducati just inaccessible and the swap to be the dumbest move. But i do love that Rally especially after having tested it!. Soo, in a nutshell, the Rally is: as a bike 10/10; value for money: 0/10

More considering reliability and maintenance, ease of service in case something does happen. I’m sure the Ducati will probably be more comfortable but will it break down on me or leave me stranded vs the ktm.

    The KTM 1290 SAR any day. You can take it on road and off-road, it's cheaper and more reliable than anything Italian. Also, in my humble opinion, the KTM looks way better. The last thing I wanted to point out is that KTM has a rally pedigree and that cannot be beaten by any other maker, they just know what they are doing.
    I've only had the KTM 1290 SAR for a few months after trying a few other bikes including the BWM 1290 GS, and the KTM is just a better motorbike, especially if you are planning to go off-road a lot. Check out Chris Birch on RUclips and you can see the guy taking the motorbike to some crazy terrains, this bike, for its size and power, can take a lot of beating.
