  • The Manhattan Transfer performed for Soundstage back in 1980. Part of this performance features Cheryl doing a solo of Parker's mood. I saw the show when it was broadcast, this piece was not a part of it but was packaged in the not "long-in-print" version that came out a couple of years later. Enjoy.

Cheryl Bentyne is a true, pure JAZZ DIVA!! I wake up often at night hearing her do her licks from so many of Manhattan Transfer's songs... She comes from Mount Vernon, Washington and not too far from where Diana Krall is from. It is such an honor to see her in Seattle when she comes home!
Thank You For This Great Clip!!

Wow--who, other than maybe Joni Mitchell before she blew out her upper register as a rocker, could move through such a large range of notes with such ease? What an amazing performer is Cheryl Bentyne!

Jeezus! That was quite a piano solo by Chuck Norris! I had no idea!!

Actually Chuck Norris can't play piano--he doesn't have to. When he sits down at the keyboard, the piano plays itself, so he wont crush it...

@CarlSchwamberger This is a straightforward cover of King Pleasure's vocal version of the song. It's also on youtube at the moment.

The vocalist in this video is actually Janis Siegel, and the pianist is Yaron Garshofsky. He had been the musical director and pianist for the Manhattan Transfer for several years before this video was recorded, and is still with them (as far as I know).
