A time when we were united as a country. When their was great pride standing up for the flag. I'm proud to have served in the military. God Bless America!
Dad was with the 2nd Batt of the Somerset Light Infantry and mum worked in a munitions factory during WW2,.They Loved Glenn Miller and the Big Band sound. And so do I!
These guys are decent players, for sure. Great rendition. Glenn Miller's tragic death was felt really hard at the time. But they were the greatest generation and we owe everything that is currently on the line, to them. My dad played cornet and (French) horn in his Army unit band while posted in Southern Italy during WWII. I have little tiny photo proofs of the band that my father took and developed!
The sound of our house when growing up in the 50's. Our father had seen Glen Miller live during a period of recovering from wounds during WW2, He had also played within dance bands as a hobby.
Most people don't realize that this tune is much older than the WW2 era. I recall looking it up and it goes back to the 1880's or 1890's. Glen Miller did a wonderful arrangement. I love it.
Love it! My parents and their friends always played this great music at their get together's, parties, etc. Great Memories, I often listen to the Big Band Music. God Bless!😇🙏🤗❤️

I had a couple of uncles in Mussolini's fascist's army during WWII They loved this stuff if they could get their hands on a 78 or listened on the wireless. One of them was killed at El Guettar. They'd listen to all the American stuff. Oddly enough, I had some relatives who lived in the US and as far as I know, fought with the USAAF both with the 8th and 13th Air forces. I did have a great cousin who was in the Marines in Okinawa too but I really dont know. My uncles and my grandpa were with the fascists though.
I hate to criticize, but I see it so often. See how the saxes are all hunched over, when they stand, READING the music. That entire passage should be MEMORIZED and they all should stand up straight and play TO the audience. You never saw any original big band sax section stooped over like that.
