Wow Sang this with my friends mom, Janey… ( at the end of the day when we worked together)she was 88 and I was 62… remembered it well from my childhood. Janey went to be with the Lord and I’m driving in the car one day, maybe a month later, and this song comes on. I cried my head off. But now it just brings me joy. I know Janey is in heaven and we will sing it again someday together❤️🙏
Many years ago, Roy Rogers had celebrated his birthday, and his lovely wife, Dale Evans, gave him a beautiful pair of cowboy boots. The next day Roy went riding out on the range with those beautiful boots on his feet. On the trail, he came across a mountain lion and got into a real tussle with it. Roy came away with only a few scrapes, but the big cat did a bit of a number on his boots. Roy rode home and had to tell Dale of his run-in with the mountain lion and the resulting torn up shoes. Being the loving and considerate wife, she of course put him at ease, telling him that the most important thing is he came home not too badly hurt. A few days later, the two of them went riding together. Off in the distance, Dale spotted a big cat, motioned to Roy and asked, "Pardon me, Roy... Is that the cat who chewed your new shoes?"
I am a baby boomer and child of the fifties and sixties. Grew up on rock and roll but in the past twenty years or more have been into jazz of all kinds. Lately I have gained a new love for the swing era and the music of my parents' generation. This is the music of the people who fought and won ww2. I love it.
Like they say,IT DONT MEAN A THING IF IT AINT HOT THAT SWING. I'm only going on 59 yrs old, but I grew up listening to the 40s-60s swing and rock n roll.
I think--it´s the music of live---14 years to 22 years --just rebell """against everything""--and the end is """LLOOLL"" we make the job--to help your parents to the end--tue rolf

I grew up on this. My father played trumpet in USO shows during the war, met some of the great musicians, comedians and other performers of that era. Yeah, I played in rock bands, but always listen to the jazz greats. Music has deep, deep roots.
I am not military. I am a WW2 buff. But this music is beautiful. My mum said her dad listened to up to the day of his demise. (Scotland). I didn't know that. Absolutely beautiful guys.
@rjuttemeijer This music reminds me so much of my parents. Mom had a collection of 78s she'd play. They danced in the kitchen, Dad wasn't much of a dancer, but Mom won prizes back in the late 30s & early 40s. They didn't meet until after the war. I still recall Mom's beautiful organdy dresses, puffed out by multiple petticoats, cinched in waist, huge intricately carved medallion earrings, Dad's suits from Hong Kong, wingtips. They were such a lovely couple.
I started listening to swing as a teen and that was in the 70s. Yes, that junk called rap and hip hop is for the brain dead. One of my faves done right...
@@wsc1955 I think it's possible to enjoy one genre of music without dissing another. Comparing these two are like apples and oranges. This music is for fans of a different generation and socio-economic status, while hip hop and rap speaks to an entirely different group of people, a younger generation, with much different experiences. Peace.
@@Arali69yep, love this... I am also biased toward rap, my son in his youth was a Gospel rapper.... What beautiful words he used to perform, formed a trio with two other guys, called themselves JCRAP - (Jesus Christ Radical African Prophets).... Rap is not all bad for goodness sake!

Awesome performance - saying that as guy who listens to Glenn Miller since 60 years. 🤩Love Veronica's voice with this timbre. Reminds me on Anita O'Day.
The Norseman he was piloting was seen to be shaken by bombs in the offshore bomb disposal area (a drop site for bombers returning from missions to drop bombs not dropped over Germany) and went into the sea there. A crewman on one of those bombers described this in an interview I heard.
Musiałem to obejrzeć dwa razy .
This version is actually very good! I've heard this a thousand time and was pleasantly surprised at how good these guys are. In particular I love the harmonies and lead.
Excellent! A time when excellence and class and beautiful music was common! Today, we have body piercings, green hair, t-shirts, and the crap that passes itself off as music, RAP!!👎

Our grandparents generation knew how to do it ❤
They new a lot of things, including how to fly to the moon.
My parents used to dance all the time 😊
They certainly did. Good music never goes out of style.

Waiting for the hairstyles and the dresses to come back. That would be pretty epic.

Love Veronica Swift. This is great.
Thank you! I’ve been looking all over for the name of this fine, elegant singer who carried the song with such ease.
Veronica Swift, you say?
Any relation to...
Nah, couldn't be.
...Could it? 🤔

Heard that joke on "The Gong Show" back in the day.
I get moans when I tell that one.
So ... I tell it again to a new crowd!
I want to believe there is an alternate dimension, in a nearby parallel world, where this never left!
Probably is somewhere out there👍
Whoever did the work with the dress and hair style of the lead singer hit it right on target. And I loved her voice.
Super🎉😊
It's called Heaven, especially for all the men and women who kept the US strong, especially Glenn Miller.
😅😅 ja jajaja interesante pensamiento lo considero.
beautifully done

Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Les Brown, the Dorsey Brothers were all prominent back then.
Historical preservation of a fabulous musical era. Wonderful.
I love the little touch of using period microphones as props, with a modern mic behind (in the case of the female vocalist).
Veronica Swift is simply amazing. She could have competed well against any of the top singers from the 40s.
Wow! They be swinging. I'll bet Glenn Miller is swinging in Heaven watching this.

She has a beautiful and smooth, pleasing voice.
Veronica Swift. Her scat singing equals Ella's.
Cool!.... Super! Glenn Miller c'est plus qu'une époque, c'est un style indémodable!
Beautiful old music. Well done! 👌
I can't imagine a more swinging performance of this song. Veronica Swift is absolutely perfect! Wow.

This is GREAT, thank you!
Just brilliant !!!
Fantastic, goosebumps. Thank you so much 👏👏👏🙏❤️☺️🇺🇲🇮🇹
RIP Major Glenn Miller USAAF disappeared in December 1944, his remains were never recovered.🇺🇸🛫

Makes me wonder how many rap artists will sign up for service in our next war.🤔
What a magnificent rendition of a legendary tune from the Greatest GENERATION ever
Great music and great interpretation . All my life listening to these tunes. tank you, I love the voice Of Veronica Swift

The band and singers are amazing. The finest!
The first record ai ever bought, just after the war, a 78 rpm Glenn Miller String of pearls, still love it
What I wouldn’t give to be able to experience Nelson Riddle collaborate on an album with Veronica Swift! Wow…
Love it. Wish it could come back.

I really like her voice.
Beautiful performance. Perfectly armonized voices and a great orchestra with present sound quality. Excelent
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing the Glenn Miller band 5 or 6 times. Usually at the Newberry Opera House in Newberry, SC. It’s always an awesome show.
Nice authentic performance of a classic, and the lovely lady has a 40's hairstyle as well!
Just wonderful

Don’t be so narrow minded
The parents of the kids who enjoyed WWII swing music thought their kids dressed like crap too.
This is how you do class!
Righteous fellow babies. A righteous era of great people. So fine. Great lead singer! Not old Tex Beneke but great none the less.
Todo un clásico del Jazz en seguir perdurando. Un gran tributo para Glen Miller.

that is a very well rehearsed group; very polished.
One of the great film music-clips that boosts my mood each time I view and hear it. Thanks............
