My Dad never missed the Glenn Miller story when it was on. He was born in 1918 and loved swing . He served in England, France, the Philippines and post war Japan occupation. June 1942 to Feb 1946 in the US Army.
I am old enough to have seen the Great Miller Band performing in England during world war two. The band was an inspiration to us all in those dark days. Listening to this brings all the old memories back. Super - Glen Miller and his band are Playing Again. Thanks for the memories.

Eleven or Twelve Years ago I checked off something on my bucket list. The Glenn Miller Orchestra came to New Market Ontario. I had missed them the previous year in Owen Sound because I could find a lady who wanted to dance to this great music. But the following year I went with a beautiful lady and we dance to every song. The quality of performance here is beyond my belief. Most of these "follower" bands end up with nothing of the performance sound of their namesake. This group of musicians are just spot on here. Hope others realize this as I do.
In the USA these bands are called "ghost bands. And most are really not very good, except for the Basie band. These guys have nailed it. I'll bet the miller band wasn't this good night after night.

Sunday morning my dad would come home from church. Read the paper & play his big band loud. Me as a teenager alil hungover heard this I loved it. I finally shared his love of his music with him. I have is collectin of his music thank god

I grew up in the 30's listening to all the great swing bands and there were many but Glenn's music stands a notch above them. This band has done a remarkable copy of his style. Miller was scheduled to travel to Paris on Dec. 12 1944 to finalize his orchestra's transfer to the Continent. He was repeatedly delayed by weather and opted to hitch a ride with a poker buddy instead of waiting. What he didn't know was that: > the flight was unauthorized and not cleared for travel > the plane, a tiny UC-64 transport, had a defective fuel system > weather over the Channel was still bad > the plane's pilot wasn't qualified for adverse conditions The UC-64 was seen by coast spotters on the standard SHAEF non-combat flight path, so it's known they weren't in a combat zone and were too far away from the RAF bomb-drop range to have been hit by jettisoned ordnance. The most probable reasons for the crash were either engine failure, pilot error, or a combination of both. 😢😢

My folks were an item in the mid 30's yet weren't married until 1941. Even so their marriage was moved ahead by the federalization of the state national guards of the nation. Dad was in the MA Guard. My folks found fun and courage in these great songs. They were great dancers and ate this stuff alive. Dad stayed in and did 28 years as an officer in the US Army. I remember going to dinner at the 'O" club on Sundays and my dad always had a pocket full of cash for the bandleader to play my folk's favorites. What fun!!!

I wasn't born when Glenn Miller and his band performed ,my grandparents had an old vintage phonograph turntable style record player upstairs in the rooms on second floor of their home that played the old 78's records ,I remember playing those records on their vintage phonograph player as a kid ,ah those memories of soothing music of their times

Good music is timeless. Doesn’t matter what it is. If it swings it will endure. These songs are fun to play for musicians as well.

Cette banlieue parisienne que j'avais fui à cause de tous ces bombardements... et cette musique imprégnait toute la population enfin libérée. J'adore et me souviens de nos libérateurs. I grew up in the 30's listening to all the great swing bands and there were many but Glenn's music stands a notch above them. This band has done a remarkable copy of his style. Brings back many beautiful memories. The old saying, You can never go back is put to rest with these guys. Thank you, George Traganos

@@jamescampoccio1152 He did die in service, but not because the plane was shot down. Historians from his alma mater, the University of Colorado, did 2-year investigation about a decade ago.
Miller was scheduled to travel to Paris on Dec. 12 1944 to finalize his orchestra's transfer to the Continent. He was repeatedly delayed by weather and opted to hitch a ride with a poker buddy instead of waiting. What he didn't know was that:
> the flight was unauthorized and not cleared for travel
> the plane, a tiny UC-64 transport, had a defective fuel system
> weather over the Channel was still bad
> the plane's pilot wasn't qualified for adverse conditions
The UC-64 was seen by coast spotters on the standard SHAEF non-combat flight path, so it's known they weren't in a combat zone and were too far away from the RAF bomb-drop range to have been hit by jettisoned ordnance. The most probable reasons for the crash were either engine failure, pilot error, or a combination of both. 😢😢

yo tambien quize escucharlas cuando iba en el kinder garden pero no se pudo :/ para el año 2005 se nos malogro el tocadisco...menos al el abuelo nos ponia buena musica de todas maneras.

Maybe its just me, but this is the finest "Miller" orchestra that I have ever heard.....Have my 1st Miller LPs from '58 when my parents bought me my first stereo. Just great here guys. What any of you who performed at this performance how I feel.

My folks were an item in the mid 30's yet weren't married until 1941. Even so their marriage was moved ahead by the federalization of the state national guards of the nation. Dad was in the MA Guard. My folks found fun and courage in these great songs. They were great dancers and ate this stuff alive. Dad stayed in and did 28 years as an officer in the US Army. I remember going to dinner at the 'O" club on Sundays and my dad always had a pocket full of cash for the bandleader to play my folk's favorites. What fun!!!

How wonderful! I used to dance it with 1 of my uncles who was the star dancing this in the parties of my family and friends, the other women when they were young forbidded him to bring his girlfriend to parties as then all the other girls could not dance with him!!

I wasn't born when Glenn Miller and his band performed ,my grandparents had an old vintage phonograph turntable style record player upstairs in the rooms on second floor of their home that played the old 78's records ,I remember playing those records on their vintage phonograph player as a kid ,ah those memories of soothing music of their times
