Aside from the outstanding orchestra, fine trombone solo and wonderful vocal, this might be the most authentic representation of the era that the song first represented. Her hair style, necklace and gown. And gloves.
3:50 ❤❤ Beautifully performed. Although our country was at war there was a style and grace not found in today's tumultuous fractured society. So sad because the strife and discord is self- inflicted.
There will never be another era where the quality of the music so beautifully fit the era and the beauty of the man and woman relationship. This was not 'social justice' or 'protest' music.
I love it! I am a big Glenn Miller fan but your sweet voice and the band...perfect. Hope seeing a show of you one day. Keep´Em Flying. Greetings from Belgium 👋
Strange that the 1930's through to the 1960's are my most beloved era's, even though I am only 76. There is a certain feeling of nostalgia to those years. The music, the movies, the mores, the style of dress. I just think we were better people then.
There was a time when I held her in my arms as this was softly playing on the radio. She's gone....but it won't be many years until I can go home to her. I miss her so.
Listening to this song, reminds me of my parents. My Dad was an American soldier in Normandy and my Mother was back in the U.S.waiting for him to return from the war. He was gone for 2 yrs.
Veronica Swift is such a fabulous singer.. ! In Jazz she's the best of her generation - but here you can listen in contrast to her thrilling scat singin and modern vocal jazz , she can sing obviously anything ! Ballads and the Great American Songbook too
I'm the silent generation and to this day in my near 85th birthday I love the songs and remember vaguely when the war ended. My brothers fought in that war and were wounded. ...
Most of us feel that our individual generation was the best. I was born before the Third Industrial Revolution, part of the digital revolution. However, I had a marvelous childhood and experiences that my grandson never had and his future will certainly be different than mine. When I was growing up the milkman came twice a week to deliver our dairy and eggs, my friends and I were able to play outside during summers until the street lights came on, international air travel was a leisurely vacation experience, fast food was the Horn & Hardart, street parties were commonplace during the summer months, I belonged to the Girls Scouts, the fireman, and policeman where our friends and knew us by our family names, mailboxes, and telephone booths were still available, the mall was NOT were my friends and I went trick a treat on Halloween night we felt safe enough that my father never locked the car. Color TV was still a rarity for most families, we did have a Magnavox record player console with AM/FM radio to listen to the beautiful music of Glenn Miller and His Orchestra. Oh, I'm sure that it wasn't all wonderful but my memories tell me differently.
Hints of Edie Gourmet in that voice. You may not have cared for her repertoire but that woman could sing. So can this one. Gorgeous phrasing and warm intonation. 🥰 Beautiful tone on the bone solo. This is a superb big band.
Belíssima interpretação da Banda da Força Aérea dos EUA. Glenn Miller deve estar feliz em outro plano da vida que não para, pela grande e merecida homenagem.
We saw them in April of 23 in Effingham IL. I had a heart attack later that night. We were making whoopie. At 55 I only took a breather and then got back to business! ☺️ She told me to stop, but I was going to finish or die trying!

Good comment. More insightful than mine.@@periloustimes4439
Concur
She is great. One of the best female vocalists since Anita, Ella, and of course Billy Holiday, “ Lady Day”. The girl is great!!!!
Yup. I grew up with them all, and they can still take me away, but Veronica is, for me, in a word, transcendent.
Well said, she is a fine, and very versatile, singer.
Don't forget the Divine One, Sarah Vaughan.
A beautiful beautiful voice 🤩🤩
Thanks for going with this very nice Miller Band. JP
An elegant performance. Takes one back to the 40s. Thanks.
That was music!

Listening to this song, reminds me of my parents. My Dad was an American soldier in Normandy and my Mother was back in the U.S.waiting for him to return from the war. He was gone for 2 yrs.
❤❤❤ Fantastic!! Bringing back memories of my dad.
A WWII veteran in the Army Air Corp.
And my Dad. A Chief in the Navy during WWII.
Absolutely beautiful!
I’m a boomer and I’ve always said that I was born one generation behind my time. I love the big band era of music. Love hearing this.
I’m with you
@@usmc9127me too ,
I am a boomer too & love the big band music!!!
Same here
Agree, however I find peace listening, knowing Mom and Dad did the same.
Back when music was really music
Beautiful vocals and musicianship. Wonderful songs from WWII days. Positive and full of love.
This song is fantastic as I get older, nostalgia matters, and she sings this song so sweetly!

What a voice! What an orchestra!
Always reminds me of my Mom and Dad during WWII. Beautiful version,
❤Absolutely divine performance!

Veroica Swift - Impeccable articulations and superb, creative phrasing. Luv her pitch playing. WoW ! Great Band !! Wonderful audio engineering !
I grew up in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. I am a true lover of this kind of music.
😊😊
Very excellent performance... something to remember about the past..love it! 💖
Veronica´s voice goes straight into the heart - I love it! It´s pure beauty!
The original Glenn Miller Band never had a volcalist as good as Veronica , applause from me!
Glen Miller has always been my favorite Big Band music! ❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely superb, great melody and sentimental lyric, excellent singer, band and arrangement. What an anti dote to today's raucous pop noises.
Just wonderful!

THIS LADY IS AMONG THE TOP INTERPRETER OF THIS SONG AND I HAVE HEARD THEM ALL, SHE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL, SHE IS THE SOUND OF A DREAM
I think I'm only 6 to 7 yrs. old, until now it's one of my favorite song

So can this one.
Gorgeous phrasing and warm intonation. 🥰
Beautiful tone on the bone solo.
This is a superb big band.
As an old, retired AF vet, 1971 to 1992, my opinion doesn't mean much anymore, but this was beautiful. Thank you for your service.
Your opintion is just as valid as anyone's, and your taste in music is just fine, keep enjoying it.
As another old retired AF vet I listened to most of the music from WW2 as a youngster but this still rings true . Thank you
Master Sargeant, your opinion does matter always. Thank you for your service, sir.😂 Vietnam Era Vet: NASO Mustang.
Veronica’s evocative, elegant performance brings me to tears.
A very different time. It wasn't like this in 1966 or 1967. So terribly sad.
Toda una gran interpretación de ese clásico del Jazz. Simplemente inmortal.
You are a very beautiful lady and have such a lovely voice... I love Big Band music and you are so wonderful to listen to. Thank you for sharing.
What pipes

Love this song ❤❤❤
I like 😅that song!.The rendition of Bing Crosby was very good.
A great song for the Clarinet Lead!!
Take Me Back Please !! ❤ ❤
Watta refreshing voice!
So mellow and filled with grace fellow babies. Righteous fellow babies. A time of greatness quality.
She has her own pure sound, but I can tell she's channeling Jo Stafford somewhat, maybe not intentional, but it;s there....
I luv this 👌
SUBLIME!! MARAVILLOSO!!
Que agradable voz!!!!
Belíssima interpretação da Banda da Força Aérea dos EUA. Glenn Miller deve estar feliz em outro plano da vida que não para, pela grande e merecida homenagem.
See Veronica at Cadogan Hall, London Sat 16th Nov 2024
Saddest song ever

Veronica Swift there's nothing left to say
Nice song sing it too my mother ok mom this is for you hope you like it in heaven lol sleep easy xoxxoo
I love her rendition. Who is she
Veronica Swift...why isn't she more popular than the other, less talented Swift...?
So why wasn’t her name mentioned….so beautiful and so elegant….
begli occhi luminosi la ragazza.
Sings like a F..... Canary :-)
I am glad if found this talent, such a beautiful jazz voice.
I grew up in the 50s with Ella, Peggy Lee, et al, unsurpassed till now. Veronica eclipses anyone I've ever heard. She is gift.
When was this filmed? Veronica's voice is truly remarkable, inspiring.
Veronica Swift!!
Quien era ella?
Nice voice but no one could sing the WWll era songs like Dame Vera Lynn
