    Is there any danger to accidentally diving into a pool with a Lyric hearing device in my ears, other than damaging/ruining the device? Is there a physical danger, such as ear ache, infection, ear damage, electrocution, etc? Thank you.

    • @TheHearingGuy
      @TheHearingGuy  2 года назад +2

      Hi Joseph, thanks for watching. Yes there is the chance that one could damage ones ear, however I've had patients accidentally jump in the pool and all thats happened is that it's killed the Lyric.

    I wanted to know if you know about the effects / prevention of earwax build up. It seems like there are quite a few ways people's ears can be blocked for a large % of the day (hearing aids, ear plugs, and earbuds). And I would love to know about the effects and prevention of ear wax build up because of those things.

    Hey Matthew. Great video. I have my evaluation for Lyric in a few days. Question - Will the battery last substantially longer if you turn it off at night? Are there other reasons that it should be replaced every 2-3 months? Wax build up, etc.?

    • @TheHearingGuy
      @TheHearingGuy  2 года назад +1

      Hey Mark. Great question. I think that you'll get roughly a weeks extra life by switching it off at night. However one of the great things about Lyric is hearing the alarm in the morning AND being able to hear at night. It very much depends on the individual. I hope that you get on well with your eval.

      @favorites favorites That's great to hear! Sometimes a little tweak to the size can help with migration so mention it to your audiologist. Where did you have it fitted?

      @@favoritesfavorites6451 I have them too and was told by the audiologist that the feedback goes away after a seal of wax is formed around them within a couple of days and that has been the case for me.

    I am trying the lyric for 2 days now. While I hear high frequency sounds much better now, I have the impression that low frequency sounds are worse, especially when listening to music with a lot of basses. Is that a common issue?

    • @TheHearingGuy
      @TheHearingGuy  2 года назад +2

      Hey Jan, that all depends on your hearing loss. If you have great hearing in the low tones then they need to be adjusted in that area to compensate for the occlusion. Thanks for watching, Matthew

      Hi Mickel, that's some very specific information. The BEST thing to do is to get yourself over to a Lyric specialist and have them try a sizer in your ear before a live Lyric. Thanks for watching, Matthew

      Hey Anahi, yes it's suitable for a mild hearing loss and we have an xxs for small ears so it's worth investigating. The smallest Lyric is smaller than the Signia Silk.

    Wow fantastic concept hearing aid!. ¿Is it possible to get a Cros sistem with this format?, it would be great!. It is not, hope soon be possible.

    • @TheHearingGuy
      @TheHearingGuy  3 года назад +1

      Hey Juan
      Sadly it’s not available in a CROS. The two biggest challenges there would be
      1. Battery life
      2. Having an antenna that would allow the two to communicate effectively.
      It is possible non-surgically with ITC hearing aids or RICS though.

    I got my Lyrics fitted yesterday and at the time of writing this I have had them in my ears for about a day and a half. Although they have been comfortable to wear and hardly noticed them, I have only just started noticing that there is slight discomfort along with a tenderness forming when I push round the outside of my ear in certain spots. Is this a normal thing until I get used to them or should I look at having them taken out?

    • @TheHearingGuy
      @TheHearingGuy  2 года назад +1

      Hey Pounder64, there is a bedding in period and it really depends on the individual. If your audiologist and you work together on getting it right its worth a few appointments to try to get there. Thanks for watching, Matthew

    • @lcoiro
      @lcoiro 2 года назад

      @@TheHearingGuy Yes this is true as the tenderness, etc settled right down after about a week or so and I have gotten completely used to wearing them, and to the point where they feel completely comfortable and you sometimes forget that you are even wearing them. I think patience is what is required for anyone wanting to give these a go.

    Is the Lyric good for a person with reverse slope hearing loss?

    • @TheHearingGuy
      @TheHearingGuy  3 года назад

      Hey RyaninSartell, great question. It really depends on the extent of the loss. I do have some patients wearing it with a reverse slope loss,, although it isn't technically deigned for that configuration of hearing test results. It's worth finding yourself a Lyric specialist and having them evaluate your suitability. Thanks for watching!!

    Is there much occlusion effect that happens while using? Like hearing your own voice?

    • @TheHearingGuy
      @TheHearingGuy  3 года назад +1

      Hey Snow,
      Great question. Lyric is placed under microscope and sits 4mm from the tympanic membrane, which in itself significantly reduces the chance off occlusion and allows for your voice to ‘escape from your ears’.
      It does all depend on your audiogram though. If you have very good low frequency hearing it could potentially be an issue still.
