  • Lyric is one of the most unique hearing aids on the market. Unlike other hearing aids, Lyric is inserted deeply into the ear canal by a specially-trained audiologist or otolaryngologist, where it stays-completely invisible-for months at a time. There is no need to recharge the batteries at night, and you don't need to take the hearing aids out when working out, showering, or going to bed. When the battery does need replacing, your Lyric devices would need to be removed and reinserted by a specialist...

I doing in choral groups and I am an oboist. Lyric is my first experience with hearing aids. When the audiologist turned them on, my sense was that the room “expanded” - a WOW effect! I tried an in-the-canal device - a backup should I need it. Unfortunately I went to a performance of Bach’s Oboe Concerto - which I know and love. These digital, process-the-input, decide-what-to-deliver-to-my-eardrum devices FILTERED OUT the oboe. I kid you not. I could not hear the oboe! I didn’t have sense enough to just remove the things and enjoy my natural hearing - at least I could have HEARD it 😖.
I returned the trial digitals the next day …
Lyric uses my outer ear to channel sound, boosts my deficiencies, and that is what I hear - no filtering, nothing altered. I hear the alarm clock, birds, my own voice sounds like ME. Try ‘em - if you can wear them, you’ll forget you have a hearing deficiency 😃

Got these yesterday. Woke up this morning with a terrible headache and a mild but consistent dull ache in my ears. Won't be able to get in for at least five days because of the holiday weekend.

I would take them out and resume the trial again after the holidays! Matthew

How well does it work for moderate hearing loss? Does it work well in noisy environments? Its seem like it wouldn't work as well as a behind the ear aide.

Hi, I've been on a trial period for nearly a month now, and I am having this issue: no low frequencies below 200 hz, a consequence of this imbalance is the highs sound shrill and distorted and the music tinny and unnatural. My question: is it typical of lyric or is it just a case of bad setting? My audiologist says the latter and did some tinkering but so far no good. Thank you for your time, Nico.

Would appreciate your comments on the idea of mixing 1 Lyric with a digital RIC.
I have a steep HF hearing loss with chronic bothersome Tinnitus.
I’m in a trial period with Lyric but 1 ear has not been receptive resulting in discomfort.
Any thoughts are appreciated and thanks for the great content.

      Hey G
My best advice is don't give up just yet, sometimes it takes a few follow ups. Has your audiologist been physically adapting the lyrics to accommodate your ear? How has it been by way of improving the tinnitus?

@@HearingTracker sorry I missed your reply.
After 60+ days of using Lyric and switching out different sizes I’m not certain it’s helping my T.
I want to believe over time it will help but mine has been 7+ yrs and seems to get more challenging due its variability.
As for the Lyric it’s very comfortable but the challenge has been fitting it close enough to eardrum to avoid the occlusion effect.
I have normal LF hearing and it’s been frustrating as we’ve not been able to resolve this.
My audiologist has been exceptional and tried everything to achieve a better fit. We’re meeting with the Lyric rep. to get her input.
      Stay tuned ….be well !

I have problems hearing in bars/restaurants with a lot of background noise, I have Eargo 5's but they are not powerful enough. In your opinion would Lyric possibly solve this problem. Also, which ITC hearing aide would be best for this problem. Thanks.

Hi Rich, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. It all depends on your hearing loss I'm afraid and its tough to say without seeing your audiological profile. Traditional hearing aids should definitely be an improvement over the Eargos.

I had the Lyrics fitted 2 and a half days ago. Other than getting used to the amplification of EVERYTHING, they were comfortable at first but after about a day and a half, my ear canals started feeling a little tender and slightly uncomfortable. I was fitted with the smaller version so maybe I need to get the next size down (XXS). I am due for a follow up a week after the initial fitting to adjust and tweak the sound as well. The background noise in noisy places makes it difficult to hear speech which I believe is common for most HAs. Is it a matter of my brain getting used to hearing properly again over a few weeks to lower the background noise? The Lyrics use analog technology so there is no control over background noise I believe?

Hey Pounder, thanks for watching and taking the time to share your experiences. Hopefully your audiologist spent some time running through the acclimatisation process. Yes it will take some time to get used to any set of hearing aids, and with Lyric you have the added bonus of having to get used to the physical side of things too, which should calm down after a few days of use. With Lyric there is a bit of. a trade off, with the cosmetics being the huge advantage of Lyric, however the price that you pay with any in the ear hearing aid is poorer hearing compared to a set of receiver in canal instruments. I hope this helps, Matthew

@@123LetsGoEntertainment Hi. I didn’t manage to continue sadly. It was all a bit too much. I couldn’t actually hear better in loud environments but that’s probably because of my particular pattern of hearing loss. I’m looking at the signia pro now as they don’t look like hearing aids!😂
Good luck!! I hope they work brilliantly for you. You have to persevere to get a real idea if they are going to be right for you. Fingers crossed. X

Hey there, great question! It really depends on the extent of the surgery and how it has left your ear.
With any previous surgery I would always ask a patient to obtain a sign of for an ENT consultant, and if your ear is still suitable physically too then it may be possible.
      Thanks for watching, Matthew
