I am getting new hearing aids and I am trying Oticon X ceed Ultrapower hearing aids now and can you make a video about them and how to make them work the best for me? My Audiologist has them and I am setting up the appointment now so I want to know as much about them as I can before I get them. I am hoping that they will be better for hearing and understanding speech than my old ones were and that is the main reason why I am getting them now. I am hoping that maybe they will be able to pull out the sounds of speech better and have better receivers and amplify it more for me.

Thank you for this information. I made the decision to go with behind the ear hearing aids because my audiologist told me they would perform better than in the canal hearing aids. He mentioned battery life and recharging but, not being sensitive about the appearance, I accepted that and didn't ask any more questions. The truth is, many friends have not noticed that I'm wearing hearing aids. They notice when I reach up to change the mode or volume. Your video made me very happy that I selected behind the ear. The next time a friend asks me why I didn't go with in the canal, I can now give them a rundown of all the reasons the behind the ear are better.

Thank you that was very informative. Despite of all you've said, I have decided upon invisible hearing aids. I realzed, i dont need streaming, bluetooth, recharging cases, tangled masks, glasses and external microphones. I decided to keep it incredibly simple and marry my needs rather than my wants, and chose invisible. Thanks for all the works you share.

Hey John, I’m super happy that you found the video useful.
I agree and think that every hearing aid out there has its place for the right person and the right circumstances. The most important thing is that you wear it consistently, so there’s no point in having a behind the ear hearing aid that you wear periodically.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment

I chose behind the ear obviously not realising how they don’t suit me. Tangled masks, glasses also getting caught up. Behind the ear bit dropping forward and hanging in certain situations, hearing conversation at the table behind me crystal clear but not the same at my table. Mine don’t have Bluetooth or recharging. I certainly wouldn’t mind trying invisible hearing aids.

Thank you very informative just found this website. I recently had NHS Phonak hearing aids fitted unfortunately I was not impressed with the way using the hearing aid was explained and how to clean the hearing Aid. You cleared up a number of my concerns on how to use the hearing properly. A big thank you.

When talking about directionality you failed to mention that IICs by nature (not software/hardware), tend to perform better due to the Pinna effect.

For me I need over the ears hearing aids because I am not able to hear and understand speech so I need as much amplification and power as possible just to be able to hear it. I think over the ears pick up the sounds better and I need to be able to pick up the sounds of speech and separate speech from background sounds so I can hear it. Otherwise I hear nothing when someone is talking to me. With a lot of amplification I was able to hear a few sounds I never heard before and that is awesome but you need the right hearing aids to do that or I would not be able to hear them at all without my hearing aids. I am not sure if it is like this for everyone but it is how it is for me now.

Hey Larry, that's interesting feedback! Your point shows that it really important that all of the options are assessed and discussed with ones audiologist to come up with the best solution for that individual, their hearing loss and their lifestyle. I appreciate all of your comments on my videos, thank you 😀

I never had invisible hearing aids before but I do not think that they would be able to pick up the sounds as well as over the ears hearing aids and if you would have enough amplification and power and it would be difficult for you to repair something that small I think too.

With all the pods people are wearing why people care about being discreet?
I have wearing aids since 2006. I never cared about being discreet! I need to hear!
By the way I live my rechargeables! I get at least 20 hours. The only caveat is DON’T forget your charger when you travel. You can’t just pick up a couple batteries for $10.

Excellent summary, thank you. Quick question for BTE typically how do they work for the “noisy environment” program? Is one of the microphones turned down? Or is a more sophisticated algorithm?

My audiogram looks like this below
Right ear: cophosis ( since childhood)
    Left year :
    .125 kHz 5db
    .250 kHz 5db
    .5 kHz 10db
    .75. kHz 10db
    1 kHz 10db
    2 kHz. 10db
    4 kHz 30db
    8 kHz 45db
Am I a candidate for IIC HA or Lyric for my left ear?

    • @TheHearingGuy
      @TheHearingGuy  2 года назад +2

Hey Don, thanks for watching. While I would love to fit you with either of those hearing aids, I feel that your hearing is too good in the low frequencies and you're likely to suffer with the occlusion effect that I talk about in the video. You're far more likely to get on well with an open fit RIC.

@@TheHearingGuy may a hearing aid amplify sounds at 8khz ? I've heard the maximum a hearing aid could do is 7khz? Is that true ?
