    Brilliant video. Thank you. Hearing aids fitted 5 days ago. A world of sounds opened up. Was overwhelming. Thank you for suggesting that I focus on voice rather than sounds.

    You don't mention music my friend (no one seems to do this in their videos!) - I am a musician and an audio pro (recording/mastering etc) This is soo important! Thank you. --Peter

      I have to have hearing aids and my hobby is music. I am an amateur musician and my hearing has been failing over the years. I have been told I need hearing aids so what are the best ones for people with very narrow ear canals. Fed up of asking people to repeat themselves. Can't wait to hear things again and also hope they reduce my tinnitus which is there all the time.

    When my Mom got hearing aids for the first time she cried because she said “I know the words you are saying, but I can’t hear your beautiful voice. It sounds like an intercom system, that is using an inside voice” (she was a teacher)

    Just got hearing aids for the first time. My hearing loss is congenital so it was a shock to have them in, and the sounds are so tinny and sharp. It’s been a very upsetting day, so this video was very comforting and helpful! Feels good to understand the process and have reassurance that this is just the beginning!

      I'm 79 years old and have had my HA's for just over two weeks. Same as you, everything sounds tinny, echoey and sharp. But, by watching videos like this and reading comments from fellow new hearing aid users like yourself, I'm pretty confident I'll get used to them.

      Hi, can I ask, when 5he noise of my new hearing aids just gets too much, is it better to turn the sound down or remove them and try later?

    My problem with hearing aids is I cannot hear a caller's voice with a landline telephone receiver, the old style receiver you hold against your ear. I'm due for another appointment in a couple of weeks when the audiologist will make some adjustments, but it's really strange to hear so much better in general environments, yet the phone is just impossible. I tried some of the suggestions found online, like holding the receiver above the ear, but nothing helped. I got a call from my audiologist after a week, but I had to take out the hearing aid in order to understand what she was saying.

    I'm in my first hour of wearing hearing aids... I needed this video just to practice listening to someone talk in mid-tones for 10 mins haha. Thanks! Now I will relisten and take in the words you say

    I’ve just got new hearing aids - I have had a hearing aid for years with my left ear as I’m profoundly deaf in that ear but just got bi-CROS hearing aids which is taking me so long to get used to. Had them for 7 days now. I’m 27, and there’s so many sounds I didn’t know I was missing. My old hearing aid 🦻 didn’t really do much for me to be honest but it’s because i’m profoundly deaf in my left ear and have a mild loss on the right. It’s weird wearing 2 rather than 1. But honestly have no idea some of the sounds, normally I don’t know where sounds are coming from, it’s a strange feeling. These are my first bluetooth and rechargeable too which I’m loving, as batteries used to be the bain of my life! Every handbag I own I always find batteries 😂 it’s just weird getting used ti them, I hope I do soon xx

    Good to know. I have heard that new hearing aids aren't like the first time you get glasses but take some adjustment (both to them and you). It's nice to know what I'll have to deal with.

    Thank you for the video. I got my first pair about 3 days ago and everything does sound tinny and funny. I can hear people's speech some what better as I can make out the words they are saying a little better so I don't have to lip read while listening to them. About how long does it take to see some good improvements? Hearing better is one reason the other is the tinnitus.

    Hi, I wonder if you can help me, I’ve been wearing hearing aids for 3 weeks now, on average about 10 hrs a day but I can’t except the quality of sound, in certain conditions they do not give me any confidence in a conversation, I find the tonal qualities change randomly from being very tinny to quite rich in sound all within a matter of about a minute and the volume seems to fluctuate the person sounds distant and then close is this normal? I’ve mentioned this to my audiologist who says I have to get use to it surely this can’t be right it’s driving me mad. Thank you for any advice.

      @@Looonymoony No I didn’t unfortunately. I was on a 100 day money back guarantee, they cost me £2000 I couldn’t afford to waste that kind of money so I returned them, they were supposed to improve my life but they only brought me frustration and misery.

    I have hearing loss in one ear. I returned my hearing aid because it sounded like a blown speaker in that ear. Eustachian tube has been clogged for years, and I think that was the reason. I am miserable and will be getting a second opinion soon.

    Thank you Matt. I adapt fairly quickly to my hearing aids. However, The sense of “blockage” is driving me mad. I use a BTE with a titanium shell RIC. I am told the vent size is determined by audiogram. I have severe silicone allergy, hence the titanium. Is there a way around the occlusion problem? Many thanks. Mohamed.

    • @TheHearingGuy
      @TheHearingGuy  2 года назад +2

      Hey Mohamed. That's a tough one. All I can suggest is the largest vent possible. Thanks for watching, Matthew

    My nylon string guitar sounds awful, distorted tinny sounds, audiologist made a setting that cut our high frequencies, sounds better but "dull". Guitar sounds normal with hearing aids out. Apparently hearing aids are not designed for guitar players.
