When people say this, it makes it all worth it. LIsten Jayseree Kuppilli, the real joy is watching people like yourself find an ability to communicate with those important with you. This year has been really difficult for everyone in the world, as I am sure it is for you. But I pray that you will have many happy moments in communicating the important stuff you want to say and hear with him!
Thanks for these tips, they are very useful. learned a lot with all yout tips and i actually agree with a lot of things you share, thanks.Your content was amazing ! helped me so much!
Well said that man and greetings from Tasmania. Only my second day after sudden hearing loss in one ear but already enjoying listening to things properly (albeit differently) again. As a keen audiophile I can tell you much of what we hear is in the mind and we learn much of what we hear so this all makes sense. And I always prefer sound advice (pun intended) to armchair experts...
I live by myself. Just like my shoes, I can’t wait to remove my aids at the end of the day. Took multiple visits to find “the right” dome for my first pair of aids. Had a weird interference problem in the new addition at the school where I worked. Either the fire alarms or the auto on/off lights made painful buzz and static on my aids. Had to get different aids/software.
There is a significant problem with interference. I would talk to the Audiologist about those situations...they can get the manufacturers involved. I am sorry about that. We are in Tulsa and would be happy to look at it if you are in the area.
@@DrScottYoung Both the school facilities guy and my audiologist were involved and helpful. Never figured out exactly what caused the problem but were able to resolve it.
@@Flipper86 I can tell you as an Audiologist for 32 years, I have found crazy things in ears and a patient's reaction to what their ears are hearing. But interference has happened. I have replaced people's hearing aids before to find if there is an electrical interference point that might be a problem. Are there ever environments that cause significant and ongoing interference? Yes. But it's rare.
@@DrScottYoung I work in special education, so in addition to inference in my own aids, I was concerned for a couple of my students who weren’t necessarily able to tell us what was bothering them. I also managed to insert a battery sticker into one of my ears.
I have worn hearing aids for the last 6 months.. I started out with the lyric.. I absolutely LOVED the sound quality for the 3 months that I was lucky to have them, but unfortunately wasn't a candidate in the end. I then tried IIC hearing aids and hated the sound quality.. I now have the phonak audeo lumity and loved how they sounded until I started having a feedback issue, then my audiologist applied the feedback cancelation and they now sound awful when they get tinny with a lot of tones,(like an oven going off or car door beeping, etc..) or when I'm singing/playing piano, even in the music setting and I can't stand it... What my audiologist did was trying to reduce the high frequency gain which hasn't helped.. He asked me to try experimenting with changing setting on my own to see if there's anything that I liked and monitor it this week before going back.. No luck with that.. Any ideas of what to do?? HELP!!!!!
Hi Kayla, as a musician and singer myself, having plugged up hearing aids that fit all down in your ear, you are never going to like how they sound when you sing or listen to music. Never listen to ANYONE on that conversation. Audiologists are not educated (and frankly how can they...no one knows how you and I perceive musical sound) in the way that music sounds to us! Depending upon your hearing loss, the RIC type hearing aids that are more open are probably a better option. Phonak has poor abilities to control feedback. They are not good. If you are still in your trial period, return them and get something different. Feedback is improved dramatically in the Starkey or ReSound.
@@HearingSolutionCtr Ya, i’d want to but my audiologist said that I’m past my trial period,.. My audiologist also said that the Lumitys are great devices, which they were amazing at first until now,.. i don’t get feedback anymore since the feedback test was ran, but its mainly just the sound quality as I was saying before about how they get tinny..
@@HearingSolutionCtr Ya, I like the RIC type.. so unfortunately I think I’m past my trial period so not sure if I can change them out :(.. I’ve also tried the resounds had no luck with those (although they were just fitted poorly and I had wrong domes at first which was probably why…) but my audiologist told me that the lumity devices are great devices,.. (which they were until now before having the whole feedback issue).. the feedback test helped resolve the feedback, but its only as I was stating before, its the issue with the sound quality and that it was sounding tinny and stuff with certain pitches or tones,.. and I also liked how they had a built in music setting in the app, which the resounds didn’t though,.. my hearing loss is a flat moderate hearing loss.. what devices and components in particular would you recommend for this?
People don't have a lot of money??? People don't have a lot of time??? If people don't have the money, they don't get help with their hearing so that's not a relevant issue in my book. What are you trying to say?
@@HearingSolutionCtr You are happy to help folks with their hearing aids, but each time it costs money. Lots of people don't have enough money to do that. Your time is their money that they don't have. Your time deserves money; you are highly trained and seem willing to help as much as that training can benefit clients. That's useless for many people who don't have the money so they can only buy hearing aids from a big box store without help. In Australia citizens get free hearing aids and help with their health care system. Maybe when US Medicare includes hearing aids and the associated help this problem will go away and you will be able to help many more people.
@@virginiamoss7045 I cannot answer how Australia does it. Of course it costs money. Anything worthwhile costs money. BUT, I do not believe that Medicare's going to foot the bill...I think there are massive changes coming to the world really soon. You are going to like it.
Private practice hearing is 4-5 times as expensive also. The strip mall hearing aid stores are almost done. Sorry, but that's today's world. When they now sell them over the counter for a few hundred bucks, you can see the handwriting on the wall. I'm not suggesting they are as good or the service is good, i'm just saying technology is improving and the costs are coming way way down. Remember encyclopedia salesmen, or kirby, or electroux salesmen? It's the same thing. Nobody is going to see the value in paying way too much for way too little.
I had a patient on a Monday who called for an appointment on that Thursday, we were TOTALLY booked on Thursday but we had an appt time for his need THAT DAY on THAT Monday. He was pissed. As he came in he retorted the same kind of silliness you spouted "When I call my car dealer they better see me the day I want to be seen...even though it was TODAY?!?!?" Steve, you want to get something crappy? Online places have cheap crap that don't work. You want to call all Doctoral level Audiologists sale people, go for it. Just don't expect any kind of service or diagnostics when you need them. If you want to stick by the fallacy that hearing aids are a TV then go to the counter and you can hook them up to the wall? Fine...the reality is that hearing aids have maybe 115 separate adjustments that are done by the computer with diagnostic needed beforehand to get the right prescription. But what do I know? I have a doctorate in the field and 34 years of experience along with more than 25K patients I have seen. I must know nothing.
