The NASCAR gaming scene has been on life support for years now and the main culprit for it has been none other than Motorsport Games. Motorsport Games has dragged the NASCAR name through the mud with possibly the worst video game and video game launches ever and it only has gotten worse since then. But yesterday respected gaming journalist Mike Straw basically announced that NASCAR and Motorsport Games are done as partners exclusively, that the incompetence has been too much now for NASCAR. So, is this the end of Motorsport Games?

Good online with seasons and good career mode with dirt, modified, ARCA, truck, xfinity and cup…free paint scheme updates and updated rosters…as well as old drivers and the potential to run maybe the 2003 season etc would be really cool…and all the tracks they are currently running including like the legendary daytona beach course or some other fantasy courses you could add to the schedule at the beginning of each season…but at the end of the day i want a fun game that the creators care about…we have been screwed when it comes to nascar games since EA stopped making nascar games. Current EA isn’t an option though they are woeful i have to deal with their crap with fifa every year…

With any luck ill bring all of your guys suggestions to the table and tell the corporate guys "look, the only way this works is if you find people who are passionate about the sport to build this thing, the blueprints for making a great game are literally ALL here and our fans are telling us exactly what they want, but were gonna need more than one year to make this unless you guys want to shell out some super big bucks"

Exclusivity in general in games shouldn't be allowed. Why should they when nobody can compete with them? Just completely anti-consumer.

Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why

I will say that my favorite racing game right now is Gran Turismo. The AI in that one aren't as competitive, but the realistic aspect of the time trail hot laps and car tuning is so much fun. If we could get the paint booth, aggressive (without the getting run over all the time aspect), and plate racing from Eutechnyx, the EA Thunder career mode, and the physics and graphics from Gran Turismo, man this would be a legendary game.
I agree with Eric's take last night on the podcast though, we need to reign in our expectations, because this will is a somewhat niche sport. My hopes is that NASCAR could pitch in funds as much as possible, in hopes to get a good ROI on younger newer die hard fans. I'm with you guys, i played NASCAR 06 & 05 on my uncle's Xbox, and when i finally got my own Xbox, NASCAR 07 was one of 2 games i ever bought for it. 3:34 Amen, brother. Exclusive licenses mean that developers can put out mediocre products year after years since there is no competition. EA is the worst of these with Madden and FIFA (now EA Sports FC), but 2K has also grown complacent with their NBA 2K games now that NBA Live is basically dead. It's a shame that this is the case since leagues like the NFL and NBA at the very least could definitely support multiple games going head to head. Imagine telling a gamer 20 years ago that they were living in the golden age of sports gaming and that their games from the early-mid 2000s would have more depth and features than games released 20 years later on far superior hardware.

You start in late models when you 14 part time then run full time from 15 to 17. If you run good in the late models you get to go part time in trucks and arca. If you do really good you get to go full time in truck if you don’t you either stay in late models or go to arca. Then you keep going up base on how good you are so you can be a truck driver for your whole career or be a cup series driver.
Also if your really good in trucks you can skip to cup if you get a offer. But you have to get offers you can’t just go up if your bad.

I have a long wish list of things I'd love to see in a good NASCAR game, so bear with me:
I'd like a game that actually feels good to drive around in, one where I don't have to have the assists on full to actually be able to drive without the car feeling like it's undrivable. Maybe that's just my bad video game driving skills, but the past few games I've played all felt like the car was just on ice no matter what setup I had, so turning, braking, staying in the pack, it all felt like if I barely touched my joystick or triggers, my car would fly out of control.
On that, I want more customization with my controls and setups, and more information on what they do, not just a slider with "loose" and "tight" on either end (I know what those mean, but I'd like to see the details, like tire pressures, balance, grip levels, etc.). Controls...maybe just me fumbling with a controller when I should invest in a racing wheel, but I'd like to have something that's not so chaotic on controller, like steering that feels like I'm actually steering and not jerking the wheel violently by barely moving the joystick. I want to feel the transmission shift when I'm shifting, not just click a button and bam, I'm going faster or slower, or it's making the engine go crazy because it glitched out or something.
Something else I've literally never seen anyone do: realistic pit stops! I want to have a mode where I can literally go down and try to pit myself, not just have the AI take over when I hit the pit road line! I want the crews to feel more real as well! I want to see them have those moments more often where, whoops, dropped the jack too soon, or air hose is caught on a fender or whatever! Just something that doesn't feel like an AI run program all the time that's super boring to watch...
I also want a super detailed customization for making my own car/paint scheme! I'd love to have an option where I can design patterns myself, not have to make do with patters 1, 2, 3, or 4. I want more sponsor options as well, even if it's fake/fantasy ones (I remember the EA games having some really funny and good ones).
Another thing I've never seen: Track creator! I'd love to make my own dream NASCAR track! Road course, superspeedway, short track, dirt track, whatever! I want tons of options and ways to make it unique and special. Have ways to test it and share it online with others to see!
I'd also love to see more track options as well for the regular tracks, like time of day for all tracks, weather options (have a race that could be impacted by rain randomly, so you don't know when the finish is), things that could change the race!
Probably the most important thing for me: I want realistic damage and crashes. I cannot remember the last time I played a NASCAR game where it felt "real." Oh sure, you can have tire wear, fuel run out, hitting the wall may dent the car a bit, maybe if I tap someone's bumper wrong, it'll cause a small wreck... But none of that felt "real" or "authentic!" I want a damage level where if I hit the wall, it's going to pancake the side of my car! I want the AI to make mistakes sometimes and cause wrecks, not drive mindlessly into my accident and cause a 20+ car pile up! I want dents and scrapes to look good, not some copy/paste thing you see on every car when they hit in a similar spot... I want to see engines blow, tires go, fenders fly, and cars slide!

Competition is good for the economy and the consumers. Our world has been monopolized which technically is illegal. But when big corps pay for the companies who regulate the business that they are in it’s a rigged game.
What I’d want from a nascar game
    Seasons update on previous installments
Additional tracks from the past or fantasy tracks
When pitting absolutely every single pit crew works, I’ve been waiting 25 years for that now to see not just your own pit crew come out
DLCs should be former nascar gen cup models you can purchase and run “Winston” cup seasons which is overall points system, the chase format, and the playoffs format.
A better sponsorship option in career mode where it’s not obvious by using your phones calculator which sponsor pays more, where it truly competitively matters which sponsor you choose with incentive and bonuses for performance year in year out. I like what heat and D2D did with dirt, trucks, xfinity and cup, progression means a lot, but have in race commentators as an option as well as the actual leaderboard they use on tv,
Intervals being .0001 seconds as truly that makes a difference
As always a easy to use yet complex paint booth
More than just your either a rival or “friend” based on how you race make it deeper than that
    Etc etc

With Motorsport Games losing their license, this means we have many opportunities to see the things we saw in different games. GT5 and GT6 had an amazing NASCAR racing scene when they had the Cup cars from each era in there until they signed some exclusivity deals. Forza Motorsport 7 had great models for that generation of Cup Cars, not to mention all the custom throwback and fantasy liveries made by the community. And let's also talk about the incredible EA sports series games during the early to mid 2000s. Thunder, Chase for The Cup and other games they had before the 08 season. I am hoping that, and this is a huge longshot, that PDI can sign a temporary deal with GoodYear and NASCAR to bring the Next Gen cars to GT7. A full test body of the Camaro, Mustang and Camry with either default numbers or pure steel bodies. The Forza Motorsport reboot could do the same thing and get the three base model cars with 3 different sponsors like FM7.

Likewise, the closest thing I see with Sony if this ends up indeed no longer exclusive license is pretty much what happened with both GT5 and GT6: Multiple licensed cars and a few tracks (The same exact thing that happened with Microsoft via Forza Motorsport 6).
