NASCAR has been changing itself more and more over the past few years to fit more into the modern day instead of being a sport stuck in 2005. There have been advancements in advertising, broadcast deals, driver activations, and so much more that has been put on the table. Well as of recording this video NASCAR made a huge change not even 24 hours ago that may be huge for the long term health of the sport online. NASCAR has debuted the NASCAR Classics page that has old race replays and old race highlights on it, basically opening it up for all of the world of NASCAR fans to see. Today we are going to dive into why NASCAR just made an amazing choice.

I'm not convinced they won't take down the videos from people like SMIFF TV, which I feel need to remain on RUclips or other sites. Additionally, look closely, and you'll see that they are cherry-picking what not to include: there isn't a single race on the site with a fatality, which I completely understand, but it doesn't feed into that "all sides of NASCAR" ideal you and I both uphold.

I'm not sure how many remember, but a few years ago, NASCAR started taking a lot of full old races down that had been uploaded by individual members. The outrage was seemingly so great that NASCAR relented and gave them back. Whatever it took for NASCAR to realize that any publicity is good publicity, whether it's from in-house or not, is the most important thing. As much as I get frustrated with NASCAR over the past 10 years, let's give credit where credit is due. We applaud you, NASCAR, for this.

And I can speak for this, back in the early 80s France JR wanted to make it a priority to archive race footage, so there not ripping old races from youtube, that have a Archive, mostly on production satellite truck tape. When races started to be broadcast live, the Trucks would shoot the footage and they would be taped on both the transmitting end, and receiving end. Part of CBS, FOX, EPSN, etc.....would be a copy of the broadcast be sent to NASCAR offices in Florida on a quarterly schedule.....I enjoy your channel bro!

The one race not on there from what I see is the 2001 Daytona 500. Now, I do kind of understand why for OBVIOUS reasons. But also, I don’t get it. Why not?

a little bit of a correction for recent races as far as 2017 onwards goes: NASCAR has been uploading their full races for every weekend (trucks, xfinity, cup series) every tuesday.

The only services I know of similar to these ideas are UFC fightpass and whatever streaming thing WWE does. UFC Fightpass has all UFC events, as well as some original content, old martial arts movies, feeder promotion events, and old strikeforce/pride events which are companies they bought out 10-15 years ago. In contrast to what UFC is providing compared to NASCAR, UFC charges about $100 per year.

Why would you think Nascar would want or need some fan's poor-quality VHS rips taken from RUclips? Nascar has high quality versions of the broadcasts, and if they're missing something, they will use a time machine like they did for the 1970's Radioactive they just uploaded.

I hope some talented people use these as records to show the “good old days” didn’t have the racing their nostalgia believes. Overall the racing we have now is fantastic and the best it’s ever been.

I like the idea, but I hope that this doesn't mean that old race uploads from Michael McIntyre, Dave W, jinjabreadman46, etc. start getting copyright claimed by NASCAR.
This should simply be just another way for fans to watch old races.

The one Rusty Wallice went start to finish on a short track like Martinsville Speedway or North Wilkesboro Speedway or maybe only one pit stop early on. This changed the rules on NASCSAR modern short track package with the Fuel cell and going to changing the tires up so they were not as durable. The other is Bill Elliot hitting 210 MPH in the summer Daytona July race and 212 mph at Talladega fall race to the point they had to add the Restrictor place for the superspeedway racing soon after for saftey.
