it's more like this: other companies won't be allowed use certain tracks or brands, and will be forced to either cut them or come up with a replacement, so their players end up missing out on iconic cars and tracks. for example, ea had an exclusive license on porsche for the NFS games, and while they're good games it kinda sucked not being able to drive porsches in other new release racing games at the time. we're even seeing it with the new forza i think, since we lost daytona and were given a pretty half-baked fictional oval instead.

  • @01iverQueen
    @01iverQueen 9 месяцев назад +25

Now I see how it's bad for all of us and other devs. These tracks owners won't be so willing to sell licenses to anyone else now and exclusive licenses also c*ckblock other more competent devs from making a game for such tracks. These mistakes could have been so easily avoided with little to no thinking forward, this situation is beyond me. They basically bit more than they can chew

Add old cars like old F1 games had (not to mention they already have the old Volvo estate, '96 Audi and '97 Laguna in Grid Legends anyway), a few extra circuits, and go for it. What would be awesome, but probably impossible, is a number of seasons in one game. BTCC hasn't be officially in a game with a full grid and circuits since 2002's Toca Race Driver. Would be incredible to have a number of cars from over the years, as well as forgotten circuits like Mondello Park in Ireland or the old Snetterton

This is why I think that exclusive licenses only hurt the concepts more than it gives the studio the freedom to do whatever they want with it. A concept should be free to use by others (of course with a license fee), and not kept away from others as if they have a permanent claim on it.
It helps the racing series by receiving income from multiple studios who got a license from it
(well, I am not really sure about that part myself, but it appeared in my head, so why not?), and players can discover some hidden gems in the meantime.
Where some mechanics work so much better than when FH5 implements a similar setup, but is not that great in comparison.
If only Moronsport Games would learn from this mistake, and do something more useful with their money.

Monster Games also has been making NASCAR games since 2000 with the original Heat series as well as the modern Heats just with different publishers (namely 704 with heat 2-4). They then partnered with Tony Stewart for 3 games, getting better each time. Then iRacing bought them and they made The World of Outlaws game which is really good, but still has room for improvement. So both iRacing’s and Monster Games’ history with solid NASCAR and other Motorsport titles, with them only improving since then, really gives me hope that whatever they cook up will be a massive breath of fresh air

These exclusive licenses have been the bane of racing games for years. Harping all the way back to the days of Porsche and their relucantance to have their cars in anything. It's hard to imagine what the owners of these companies are thinking when comparing exposure from a single development to having their brand across multiple different games from one offs to dlc integration into some of the biggest racing game titles on the planet. Guess this just shows how little they actually care about the gaming fan base. They are taking an "OK whatever just have them handle it and don't bother me about it again" attitude.

Glad iracing is going to make a NASCAR game. Maybe in the near feature I'll enjoy playing a NASCAR game like back with NASCAR Thunder.

iRacing was founded by former devs of the original Papyrus studio who made games like nascar 2003, which even to this day has a cult following due to being pretty much a simulator, rather than arcade game like these Nascar Heat's and whatever garbage MSG came out with. :D

Damn I knew MSG had been quiet about the Indycar and BTCC games but I didn't realise it had gotten this bad. Racing games are in a REALLY bad place at the moment, we need new titles with innovation because its just going to die out otherwise. Sim titles are doing okay but the arcade racing genre is an absolute mess.

The older Nascar games (Heat 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) are not made by them. They only made Nascar 21 Ignition, which is the worst racing game ever made (I'm dead serious).
Also, the CEO is a very sketchy guy.

Given the quality of their NASCAR games I´m not sad at all that this company is going out of buisness and already loosing / selling the licenses they had.
That being said, i agree that I really hope that these license holders will be more open to and willing to give the license to multiple studios any given season. Just look back at the 90´s and early 00´s when both NASCAR and F1 regularly had multiple games for a single Season and it resulted in some of the best games both Series ever had.

As someone who has been anxiously waiting for the IndyCar game since it's announcement, this just sucks lol. I mean don't get me wrong, after seeing the abomination that was Nascar Ignition, my hopes weren't exactly high, but I was genuinely excited to have a true Indycar game! I figured if they could at least give us a barebones game with decent physics that could be built upon like Codemasters did with their F1 games, then the Indy fans could finally enjoy their slice of the pie. But alas, with news early this year (I want to say it was Feb or March) that there wouldn't even be a career mode in the Indycar game, and then watching the dumpster fire burn throughout the rest of 2023, it seems yet again I have to accept that it will be an even longer wait for my Indycar game. Thanks as always for the uploads Nick!

ouch...... I guess going all out is too intense getting licensing with all those company. Maybe they should have done 1 licensing instead of all those title to see if it financially visible. Just saying then again I am not the one running a company.

I'm so happy that Motorsports Scams is finally going down. This scam of a company created by Russian grift artists rolled up, bought two competent estabilished dev studios that made rFactor2 and Kartkraft, and then took up to buying out all of those exclusivity deals, only to either make absolute shit games (NASCAR 21 Ignition) or just straight up don't make a game (everything else, especially Indycar and maybe excluding WEC, as they might actually deliver that game). This "publisher" ruined content and eSports events for other sims for the past 3 years at least, delaying their content plans and making them not able to run events, like the Indycar and Le Mans DLCs for AMS2 that were canceled, or the iRacing 24h of Le Mans that weren't run in those years as they used to.
And then the CEO grift artists ran away with the money, opened up the IPO and now are long gone, leaving the sinking ship behind ruining the livelihood of the rF2 devs. If only those assholes could be arrested for what they did.

Prime example of a company that aimed too high too fast they should have picked three licenses and stuck with that, shame they sold the NASCAR license to I Racing that's one company that should be yeeted from existence.
