  • Forgot to hit record on my main camera so this is filmed from my "wide view" camera, which is my old camera with audio problems.
Went out with Matt Hackler to record this newly installed little Whelen. This siren was installed last summer after fundraising efforts by the local fire, police, and other members of the community raised the rest of the money needed for a siren after the local deputy marshall passed away before being able to raise enough money for the siren on his own. This siren has a plaque on the pole dedicating the siren to him.
After "the Donnie Dickman Storm Siren" winds up, you can hear the siren in the town of Waveland, 2 miles away, boop up. We originally assumed this siren was a Hornet because many small towns in Montgomery county have Hornets, but it doesn't sound like it's rotating. You can hear this siren for a few seconds after this one boops down. The siren you hear faintly in the background at the end is another siren that we thought was a Hornet that doesn't sound like it's rotating nearly 6.5 miles (!) away in Alamo. I believe both the Alamo and Waveland sirens are also 2902's but that is yet to be verified.
Montgomery County tests their sirens bi-monthly on the second and last Wednesdays at 11am.
