  • This video was recorded on Friday October 4th, 2019 during Hancock County's weekly test. This Thunderbeam is located south of New Palestine. I am unsure if this siren is active any more since, as I discovered while filming this video, New Palestine installed a 508 just up the road from this siren to indirectly replace the HOR that fell down in high winds in the spring of 2019. I've heard this siren wind up for a short blast in a failed 508 test, but I haven't been able to definitively get an answer on if it's inactive. I wasn't very happy about this experience as this siren failed and the d-bag kept driving by with his loud car, but it was rewarding to find a new siren and I was able to pick up multiple 508's and New Pal's T-121 in the distance.
Sirens in Hancock County are tested Weekly on Friday at 11 as long as temperatures are above freezing. Hancock County now has a system of mostly Federal Signal 508's that were installed over the last couple years, but there are also a large number of 2001's and a couple other sirens from each of the other 3 big name brands. Greenfield runs its sirens on its own. All other towns sirens are operated by the Hancock County Dispatch, though purchased with their own funds.

Supposedly Austin has tried to record this a couple of times and it’s failed so it’s most likely inactive
