Interesting stroker.. Will kind of have a very similar Bore and Stroke as a 5.3 LS engine..
Yup.
folks used to talk smack to me about my Summit Racing branded parts, funny thing is they never could out run me though with their high dollar brand name parts....
They made a four bolt main in a 305 cu. In.? If so why. In the late 70s we tried to build a 305 to go fast to no avail.
They never did make a 4 bolt 305 from factory.
@@SquarebodyStuff they did but not for production cars
Just curious, what special purpose did GM build 4 bolt main 305's for?
@@SquarebodyStuff from what I've read they were for a racing class that never happened. They didn't make many. Somewhat more strange is that Dart fairly recently made little m 305 blocks for a few years in hopes that the sprint car guys would buy them over stock blocks. I'd like one for a turbo TPI street engine but with fuel prices what they are here I'll probably stick to a stock casting.
Thanksfor the info. I was guessing along the lines of a specific racing class.
I’m using the speedmaster light weight rods on a 409 max effort nitrous engine I’m making a video on, 650 plus a 200 shot making a total of 850 ponies, love the quality.
can a 334 stroker be good for towing and just daily activities? I have a 84 C10 long bed and I want to make it look like from factory with a few goodies but still use it as a work horse when needed. It won't be showroom build but used as any other truck.
Yes, it could be used for that purpose.
@@SquarebodyStuff awesome and thank you, I'm not looking for a high horse power truck, I just want it to be usable.
For nitrous, I like a big bore, short stroke engines. 377, 327, 302/301 etc. Nice alternative stroker!!
No way!! I’m also building a 334 stroker for nonamenationals as well! This truck is going to be a must see man, I can’t wait to see what you run!
Good luck with squeaky hey that 3/34 stroker set up with l98 heads I hope the intake matches as well as the carburetor cuz you talking about making 400 HP that's going to be awesome man with the 250 shot of nitrous a good luck hope to see you out there
It's almost begging for a turbo setup...🤣 I don't understand all the hatred for the 305. They are still a small block chevy that's capable of making 450hp and even more with power adders. I say thrash em and save a few of those precious 350 blocks in the process...lol
I'm hoping eventually to go with a turbo or two.
Why a 305???!!!!????
Why not!!!! Those are tough lil engines!!!!!
Glad to see ya back! I'm excited to see the rest of the build. As always great content. Looking forward to the next video. God bless you and your family.
Because Race Truck
A lot of summit brand parts are made by top brand manufacturers. Many take the best part of many products and combine them together. L98 heads on a 305? Aren't the valves going to hit? The combustion chamber will be large.
Agreed on the summit parts. The aluminum L98 heads have 1.94 /1.50 valves and a small 58cc chamber.
@@SquarebodyStuff I'm getting old so my memory must have slipped then. Sorry
No worries.
You could Hard Blok it that should help seal the main bolt holes along with the sealer on the threads. Hard Blok will help stabilize the cylinder walls to.
I've been thinking about doing that.
I been super busy bought me a 2004 dodge to pull my c10 around with got a heck of a deal on the dodge it had a busted valve spring an they said it was a fuel pump problem well anyway 300 dollars later we got us a truck
Awesome! Glad to see ya back buddy
Taking video is taxing to say the least, I've accidentally deleted over 3 hrs. Man, is that frustrating. It takes time for sure.
As far as bore go least amount possible, bigger bore makes heads smaller JM2¢ . Looks great and a good plan. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like you getting there just takes time for sure
With piston are ya gonna run as those 6" rods rule out using the KB #156 pistons ?
I'm building a 334 right now as well but im using speedmaster 5.7" pressed pin rods, i have the option of machining down a Speed Pro flat top piston if i don't want to buy the KB's
The ones I found are DSS brand, forged for 6" rods.
Great video 👍👍👍
Thanks, a little long winded. Lol
I know money don’t grow on trees… but why not build a fast truck with an auto and build the 4 speed 305? You got the engines and stuff🤷🏼♂️
Some day I might go that route, but for now gonna stick with the 305 and 4 speed. Not trying to be the fastest truck out there, just doing something different.
And I get that but it’d probably get you a lot more views having both
Probably so. Maybe someday I'll have the funds and the time.
What crank are you putting in the 305 block?
3.75" stroke forged crank. ruclips.net/video/M8g3hvHFOS4/видео.html
I heard 30 over is the most you can go on a 305. Just wondering if I heard wrong. Thanks, and enjoy your channel.
You can go .060
Squeaky !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine waiting
squarebody
Speedmaster yikes
What personal failures have you had with there products . Just so I know what I might need to watch for.
@@SquarebodyStuff extremely poor machining, bad electronics, distributor shafts breaking off, it’s the same company as procomp, just renamed. The last straw was a simple billet carb spacer, it was machined improperly and had a huge step in the carb surface, wouldn’t seal at all. I returned it for exchange and the second one had it too. So after years of trying parts, I had enough. I’ve even seen seats fall out if there aluminum heads. And don’t ever attempt using the springs that come on them, there’s not even enough pressure for a basic flat tappet. It you get a set, buy them bare and have a shop check them all out and use better parts in them, they will work on a budget engine. I’ve had to remachine connecting rods because they were way out or round on the big end and the pin end. Make sure the machine shop checks out your rods.
Thanks. So far I've not had any issues with pro comp or speedmaster products all the years I've been using them. We'll see how this stuff holds up for this build.
I’ve used speedmaster pistons on a 560 horsepower build and everything was perfectly in spec…
Like how cool would it be ??? If you really could see.. What she will really do on a Dyno
I'm gonna try to make it happen.
@@SquarebodyStuff Most definitely would make great content.
