  • In this week's film I'm talking about all the things I am working on in my Studio - from making an English Pieced Patchwork sewing kit to dyeing wools with foraged plants to pressing and storing leaves and plants for future projects.
It is a great week to join The Studio Club as you get three month's classes for for the price of one and, if you join for six months or a year, I will even send you a free copy of my A Seasonal Way book (to anywhere in the world).

Jane my interest has been reignited in using plants after seeing the moving film “nettle dress “ which follows one man’s journey to overcome grief by collecting many bundles of nettles & stripping the leaves and using the inner part of the stalk to eventually make cloth on a loom to produce a dress in memory of his wife , a great mindfulness thought provoking film !

Isn’t it a beautiful film. I was lucky enough to see it when passing through London last year - right time, right place for a show where the people involved were interviewed. So glad you got to see it Gill. X

@@magdastar2249 I think it is now on Netflix, at least it is in the UK. If you search The Nettle Dress you should find it. X

Im looking forward to more natural dyeing and eco printing . You always bring calm to my day with lots of creative inspiration. I dont have Sweet cicely growing here but lots of cow parsley and bracken. I have started knitting a patchwork cardigan with all the colours .....nettle, daffodil, rosebay willowherb and Avocado. I will share it in the forum . 😊

Hello Jane, I just wanted to thank you for all the beauty you share - from your gorgeous crafts to your gorgeous surroundings. Your videos give me comfort and a real sense of well-being. I feel my severe dyspraxia prevents me from being a talented creative but I’ve definitely got the mindset for the lifestyle. Please could I ask where you shop for your beautiful clothes? The colours of your pinafores and the botanical prints are just divine xx

Thank you Rachel. What a lovely comment. My clothes are mainly by Toast - there is a good second hand supply of them and I know my size! - I like that the seasons all go together with them.
And by the way I am absolutely sure that you will find a creative outlet to fit around your dyspraxia- often it’s just a case of finding out what it is. A young friend with dyspraxia found that needle felting was something that she loves to do which surprised me, but her creations are lovely and whimsical. J x

I love those drawers for the pressed flowers! That idea is perfection! It's like a cabinet of joy.

Aren’t they great - I am a great sucker for drawers of all kinds but often I can’t remember what I have put in them. With these though it’s easy to see.

I am only an occasional RUclips watcher of you - more later when life allows it. I find it is a problem keeping pressed flowers safe. So I rally like your storage option. I am trying to figger out one for myself.

It is a difficult one. I have previously kept them in those fold out cardboard mailers that books are sometimes sent in.

Jane you have such lovely ideas for the Studio Club. I’m enjoying trying them all.
Very pleased to hear you can use ground elder as a dye plant. It will be good to look at it with different eyes as it’s a real pain in my garden.

Thank you. I do love the idea of reframing what are often seen as problem plants. Bracken is an amazing dye plant too. X
