I loved Hagitude by Sharon Blackie. How through history, myth and folklore we take back our power through Menopause to create and to become everything society said we could not be as we were growing up, mothering etc. it’s powerful, enlightening, and quite sets one on fire to explore the second half of our lives in creativity and power. In a world that tells us with very ad, etc that once we are no longer fertile we are useless. Highly recommend.
I enjoyed Hagitude too Emme - personally I have found the past few years, since my 50th really, to be really empowered and creative; very much in contrast to the adverts that appear on my social media feeds! I loved her If Women Rose Rooted too.
Merry Christmas Jane. I very much enjoy your club! I have just read Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal by Jeanette Winterson. Jeanette is a writer ( Oranges are not the only fruit amongst others). This is her story and it’s a pretty intense one. She was adopted into a somewhat dysfunctional family in Accrington. Her story is not dull. It was handy to read on my iPad ( borrow books) as I needed to ‘research’ some of the stuff she covered!
I love the colour of the wall - the baskets look great against it. Thanks for the book recommendations, I'll have a look at them. I've enjoyed watching your Friday films and look forward to the 6th January when you return. Merry Christmas x
Wishing you a Happy Christmas and a Happy Hogmanay as well! Thanks for all you do for us here; it is entertaining, informative, and educational. Love it!
Hi Jane I've just started reading 'Fabric' by Victoria Finlay about 'The Hidden History of the Material World '. Too much to summarise but if it's new to you, its worth googling for the info. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year x
I love cloth history. Thank you Jane
