    I worked for many years in my community classed as “deprived”health inequality,poverty ,unemployment all were factors.We had a healthy hearts group that met up weekly.The Reiki sessions were the most popular they were offered free of charge.The most down to earth working class men ,after being initially scathing but equally curious would, after experiencing it for themselves , arrive early to put their name on the client list and any blokes arriving as newcomers would soon be convinced to “give it a go”.!The reiki practitioner was a middle aged man and truly made a difference.

    I’m a closet spiritual person too 😊I feel very vulnerable and exposed talking about it and I think I probably enjoy the magic and secrecy of chatting to flowers and birds and insects 🐞. I feel that same aversion to group spirituality I don’t want to be told how to connect but saying this I think learning new techniques is really helpful and can expand what you already practice. Thanks so much for sharing ❤

      Thanks Judith. I’m finding it interesting that this video is the only one I have had where some people have chosen to unsubscribe; but it also the one that has people watching for the longest time - both of which are I think because it is a more challenging subject and one we rarely discuss. A lovely conversation and heartfelt. Please never feel the need to apologise even though it is vulnerable. Your lived experience matters and your voice within it. If those who can’t endure a different perspective to their own (and we don’t always have to see things the same way) need to be here and can do it with grace. Thank you for sharing and I always gain insights and some new learning ❤

    This is my favourite video so far…I was having such a conversation with you along the way!
    I HAD to move from west Stirlingshire into the city as I was carer for my husband. We lost everything because of his illness and found somewhere we could go that ‘might’ have helped his condition. Unfortunately it was in a flat and I lost my spiritual connection with life because I…a) no longer lived in the countryside and b) had no garden!!!!
    In fact yesterday I cried as the communal garden demolishers (not gardeners) attacked the beautiful daisies and buttercups that had grown on the bank outside our window, giving me at least a glimpse of nature, with industrial strimmers. I was in such an angry mood all day.
    I know Tir na Nog so am going to investigate more as you can see what the course has bought you in your being, it’s beautiful.
    Thank you Jane 🙏🏻

      Thanks Jen. I also find it so, so sad when the wild edges are cut down. I remember reading something Monty Don wrote about breaking down and crying when all the cow parsley was cut from the roadsides, just when it was about to bloom. I think that these edges are really important for people as well as animals.
      I would recommend seeing what is in at Tir na n’Og - Oona said that they don’t do many courses June/July as people are away but in late summer autumn they have more. J x.

    I think this was one of the most candid and vulnerable conversations to have within the framework of social media. I resonated with practically everything you said, regarding reading energy. I went to visit my sister in San Francisco about 20 years ago and although very beautiful there we were somewhere in the city and I felt this overwhelming sadness come over me and I looked at her and said I don’t understand what’s going on but I’m incredibly sad and heavy in my heart, and she looked at me and she said well. This is the area where most people have died from AIDS. It’s not the first time that I have read the energy of neighborhoods or people or peoples homes or work environments. I think it’s a real gift to have that sense. Thank you for a fascinating topic and I listen to the very end.

    Thank you for sharing your journey . I feel often a close connection with the natural world and birds, flowers, trees .....the cycles....the moon.....often naturally becomes part of you and evolves into Spirituality as we honour the gentle rhythms of nature and feel its energy. I have been a Reiki practitioner for many years and work closely with animals more in the last five years than people . I often call it spiritual healing as it has evolved over time and deepened and followed a natural path. If people unsubscribe it is because they are uncomfortable or judgemental but you are being true to yourself . Everyone else around us are riddle with them. I just energetically put up a barrier. As a herbalist I’ve the green witch tendencies. I suspect you will get some people unfollowing you, but also more like minded people joining you too. Next thing to try for your shoulder is Bowen Therapy extremely gentle! Thank you. Yes I was so sad when the deer ate everything- though mainly the apple trees as I had put so much thought into their selection. But now these have naturally regenerated through a layer of brambles that kept the deer away. They are wild looking, unpruned, over to one side. Like feral apple trees - and they fruit so well! Most I leave for the blackbirds, but some I take for eating while I work.

    Jane it’s so funny that you should speak about Reiki today, I have been messaging with the lovely lady whom I had a couple of sessions with earlier this year (after my op) as she is running a Reiki 1 course next month which I’m hoping to join. I was in fairness rather cynical about an ‘energy practise’ but I too had such a wonderful experience that it really made me question myself. I have to remind myself that there is so much in the world that I don’t understand yet benefit from (couldn’t begin to tell you how my car works!) that I willingly accept, so to keep my mind open and always be willing to learn something new. xx

    Friends, family, pets - and plants! I've long been convinced that plants I love, pay attention to, talk to and touch frequently, grow better. I only got into Reiki years after having laser-like rays of energy through my hands during a Breathwork session, while "hearing" the words internally: "this is the force that moves mountains", and knowing that was meant absolutely literally. Though a scientist, I had had "anomalous" experiences from childhood so wasn't automatically sceptical. It was some time (and major life experiences) later that I came across a Reiki master who taught me Reiki1. Even then, I had some self-doubts about efficacy but felt even deep relaxation can be therapeutic, what would I know? But when she and I did a come-and-try session at a public event, I had a woman sit with me. I started with her head with the standard placements, and when I got to her shoulders, I felt a distinct whoomp of energy through my left hand into her left shoulder - a total surprise. I asked her at the end if, by the way, did she have any issues with that shoulder? And she had! A 12mth old basketball injury she couldn't shake despite long treatment! She had not felt that burst of energy herself. No doubt after that, no way I could have known her history or condition. More things in heaven and earth etc. Still questioning whether to do Reiki2 when healing hands have been used for millenia in most cultures, I'm sure. Perhaps an opening will come one day when it will be the obvious thing to do, like my 1st level.
    I feel the days of keeping our spiritual experiences quiet are past. The more open we are, the more opportunities it gives others to express beliefs and experiences that widen and deepen our understanding of "reality", and hence how to function better within it. When it's appropriate, of course. Never something I could discuss at work to scientific colleagues! Thanks for posting this, Jane, always provides something to think about.
    To anyone who knows they are good with their hands, always pats passing dogs and cats, feels they want to spread beauty in the world through their handwork, I'd recommend at least Reiki1 to help focus these energies.

    • @snapdragonlife
      @snapdragonlife  2 месяца назад +1

      I think that this is exactly it - that every single culture and faith has the concept of healing hands and the evolution of gradually understanding things that can seem inexplicable at first. I was shocked at how the participants last weekend could detect sites of long term health issues even though we had no knowledge of each other and were basically doing it without being 100% convinced we were doing it right.

      Hi Andrea. There tends to be one every 2 to 3 months - as an extra when I think that the class would benefit from one, so with something like natural dyes that works well as it fits into the 45 minutes or so. They are always recorded and the vast majority of members watch in replay. It’s also a chance to submit questions about specific aspects of a technique that I can answer.
      There is a forum which is an old school kind of forum where people ask questions, or recommend books or share things. Again it is optional and I don’t think would be exhausting. I’m very introverted so understand completely the need to manage energy around social interactions. My email is snapdragonjane@googlemail.com

    If you are interested in connecting with the various energies of home and land, can I recommend a book by Adrian Incledon-Webber, called Heal your Home. I've met him in person and he is the real deal, a lovely gentleman, with many interesting case studies.
    I trained and practised Reiki 1 and 2 many years ago, but it didn't feel right for me. I later learned that although the philosophy and intent is excellent, the symbols are not conducive to balance and health. The main problem is that when we are attuned to them, they limit the human potential for natural healing. We are all healers and can tune in to the universal healing energies without being taught or needing symbols. Reiki gives a feeling of wellbeing but is a bit like taking a painkiller for short term relief. Deeper healing is possible through our natural healing abilities. Using the symbols is like focusing on just one colour of the rainbow, when we are naturally able to use all the colours.

    • @snapdragonlife
      @snapdragonlife  2 месяца назад +2

      Thank you Wendy. I think that Reiki is perhaps taught in many different ways and comes to us in many different ways. The emphasis in the course I did was on our natural and wide ranging innate abilities to detect and channel energy. I believe that people - as you have - find what resonates with them naturally if they are open.

      Ah, interesting! I did Reiki 1ages ago and the symbols were the first thing to go out the window. I've always been sceptical about the whole philosophy tbh as I don't like dogma and hierarchy's. Also when the teacher showed us how to channel energy via the hands, I saw it was no different than the energy I felt many times before without the need for any 'attunements', so I kept practicing in my own way, just letting my intuition lead. Nevertheless, it remains true that having someone hold space for you and focusing on the movement of energy is an essential healing experience.
