Im glad the NBA recognized your expertise
This era made me so mad at the time but looking back as an adult, this is just beautiful basketball
Why were people so mad?
People said it was because it wasnt fair to add KD, but at the same time, despite the hype of the splash brothers, most people also didnt regard Curry highly, always trashing him.
And why do people hate Curry and mistake his joy as arrogant? Dude is obviously just a charming cute nerd.
It's the same crazy logic of men towards women; make them shut up and break up their dangerous gatherings, yet also women are stupid and aren't to be taken seriously and belong in a kitchen. Which is it now? Are they too dangerous and threatning positions of power, or are they irrelevant? Is KD +Curry unfair, or is Curry a bum??
People always hated the Dubs and only now are willing to credit Curry after these last Olympics now that he's over the hill. Too little too late, bandwagen jumpers - they'll immediately revert back to crazy logic as soon as the Warriors glimps as a possible playoff danger.
I always hated people and their stupid false logics.
Sorry for trauma dumping.
But i am genuinely interested in why people were so mad about the underdog small curry showing greatness and always being humble and working for the team. Sure he has annoying antics but he's a nerdy kid who survives amongst all these butthurt macho bigs, so let him have his joy.
You heard 'The Pop!'
Facts
Fr I despised KD during this time but looking back for a team with so much star power their chemistry was so insane
The way Steph, Klay and KD look so young is amazing
Kerr too. He looks so much older now.
Draymond too lol. He has so much gray in his beard now
U sure? They look similar to me, ofc a little younger but look similar
I started watching basketball when curry won his first mvp and watched so many great teams and championships from warriors. Here's hoping for more from them. They have a legitimately good shot at winning this year.
They have no chance.
They not winning nothing they’ll be in the play in
I stopped watching basketball when curry won his first mvp, dude has destroyed NBA for me
@@InfiniteCoreXD haha lol see you in playoffs your teams suck doesn't mean warriors also sucks😂😂 kid grow up
Good shot lol. They got rocked hard by the Cavs. The team beside their aging core has no depth and no playoff experience. Either a big trade happens at the deadline or Curry probably asks out at the end of the season.
Seeing JJ Reddick here balling, and realizing that he is the Lakers coach. Man, time moves so fast.
And I realized why JJ hates Stephen...

@@joshchambers5163 why lol? whos beating these team? MJ's Bulls? nope
@@joshchambers5163 whos beating this team?
Not to mention, they were playing in Oracle which was the loudest arena in the league. Those 3rd quarter explosions + the noise would make teams struggle to defend or even create any offense
As aptly called, "Roaracle"
For as much as the offense of this team gets talked up their defense was equally as impressive during this run which was the scary part of facing them I imagine
Draymond deserves a lot of praise and flowers for that
yup two way Klay, Green, Iguodala... they could all shoot and clamp down on defense like a flick of a switch.
@@SantaClaraFella Even KD can defend well with his speed, athleticism, and size.
@@jdapaul1351he was a great shot blocker during this time too! I remember him being in the top 5 averaging over 2 blocks per game
@@MrSkeleton131 KD always been an incredible help defender. He really got to showcase how he can anchor a defense with mostly defensive scrubs on the Nets, which is crazy considering his age and injuries at the time.
Some of the best spacing ever seen
Yeah - before the league figured out how to play modern basketball, aka Warriors basketball.
@@hawkname1234 This.
In recent years the warriors have not run roughshod over the rest of the league. It's because the rest of the league have caught up to this style of basketball. Everybody's spacing the floor now. Drop coverage is no longer the default defensive scheme because a good shooter will have a field day with your drop coverage. And every team has good shooters now.
NBA please keep promoting thinking basketball, this is head and shoulders the best content on this channel
3:49 , Their Chemistry is so good that players are synchronized to each other even when running😂

Warriors in 5... That 2014 Spurs team was good, but Duncan was already past his prime.
Man Kawhi was up 20 on these niggas and Jonathan Simmons was able to get a contract based off a game versus them😂😂😂 Spurs would’ve beat them frauds in 6 lmao
Oh man and don’t forget 2018 when the rockets were up 3-2 before CP got hurt 😂 niggas say anything this team was not only beatable but should’ve lost a few times foh
Better than the 73 - 9 team, but they had to make sure they have the energy for the playoffs instead of recreating the choking incident of their previous season. 16 - 1 in the playoffs is just insane, I don't think any team will be able to recreate that for a very long time.
The 17 Warriors were smart injuring Kawhi, otherwise they might’ve lost in WCF
@BrightNights645 that was 2018. No one had any answer against the 2017 Warriors.
@@ouro2164 Check again, 2017

i wish the nba would release these old games, id love to watch them

u a champion team, then u get Durant, what do you expect???
2017 warriors was legend😢
Yeah when you have a fucking shit show of a Kevin Durant trapsing his way around the league then yeah.
Everybody criticized KD for going to Golden State but this breakdown perfectly illustrates why. He wanted to play in this offense. Simple as that. Being the purest that he is, in his mind this was purest way to play basketball.
💯‼️
The same person after he left ended up criticizing this style of play. I guess it's a perfect example of not knowing how good you had it till you're out of that situation.
It was BS. I didn’t even watch that year bc I knew they would win
@@jdt8164 lmao smart move. Best NBA team ever assembled.
@@terrorkf Not sure what situation you're referring to
Defenses prioritizes Curry and Thompson which frees up Durant. So many open looks because everyone were chasing both the splash brothers
Yeah, I was pissed off of this team because they destroyed every team they faced nevertheless the way they play ball is something else. It's beautiful, even though it hurts watching it when they're doing it against the team that you're supporting.

Steph🐐 this was the best and beautiful basketball I ever seen
What a time to be alive to witness these guys. As a kid I was pissed they were that good but now i recognize their greatness
No one could stop them because they had 3 of the best shooters of all-time in Steph, prime Klay, and KD
Arguably the best offensive team ever assembled. I don't think the prime Bulls, Lakers or Spurs could have dealt with this offense.
@chinaskibukowski7747 I would pay to see this offense vs bad boy Pistons.
These are amazing! Absolutely love content from Thinking Basketball 😁
Wait! Whoa Whoa whoa! Thinking Basketball got a video on the NBA channel?? Man, everybody moving up in the world but me!
Loved every minute
Wow this is so major thinking basketball with the NBA officially! He is the best nba breakdown analyst by far
KD was the FIRST Big Ticket free agent the warriors has EVER got. Still haven’t gotten a FA at that caliber since KD. Andre was near his older years and didn’t impact a team like KD did at the time too.
And when when they won their 4th ring that solidified their stance even more, Curry won a ring without KD, that's what folks don't talk about, he won 2 with him and 1 without him, while staying with the same team! If he not over LeBron then people are just insane!
60 points in a little over a quarter is diabolical
Full W's experience from that era. Sloppy turnovers, Draymond tech, and clowning the Clippers with a 3rd quarter run.
Let’s be real klay and Durant stay healthy warriors three peat
Yeah that’s why 2019 finals is w/ an asterisk to me
Imagine if they had managed to draft Jokic, if he were part of the lineup with Steph, Klay, Dray, and KD, they'd be INVINCIBLE!!!
Now that's a literal Superteam
@edwardteach1992 MEGA-team
That would be insane levels of off ball movement.
Everyone says that they're basketball fans yet they can't appreciate what this team did.
Basketball fans an nba fans are two different things. Nba is no longer basketball it is a entertainment league that is based on/resembles basketball but has been bastardised so much it is no longer basketball
Any top Player joined the defending champion will be unstoppable
legendary stuff
2016-2017 warriors greatest team of all time
Best team ever
Doc's face at 20:29 just about sums it up
Love the collab, need more tactical breakdowns in the modern era
The was like Mind the Game Podcast before that. The analysis of each play was impressive and gave me a much better understanding of how their offense was so effective.
Missing the old times of nba
The addition of KD’s Presence in the court also made Curry and Thompson get so much Open Looks. If KD is out in the line up, Curry can make plays on his own or set-up an open look for the shooters and open man as well. This Line-up is literally deadly
You do such a good job of breaking this down and it is the hidden sneaky thing about this team. They weren't really the three point shooting team people thought they were. They were amazing from 3, but it was a decoy for the rest of their offense. All these teams trying to "play like the warriors" must not have really watched the game and only thought analytically. What made the warriors good was the unpredictable nature of the offense. They could score from everywhere on the floor.
A team like the Houston rockets was going to the paint or the rim. They were dead last in midrange scoring % of their offense in 2017. However, the 2018 version of this warriors team was top 5 in midrange scoring.
This big 4 was so misleading. It was closer to a decade ago now but we're still learning things about their offense. They weren't just bombing threes. It was so much more than that.
Just so beautiful
Legend says that Raymond is still out there looking for Steph
No one could stop them because they were the greatest team of all time with the #1 and #2 shooters of all time, and then added the best scorer of all time. It's not rocket science.
16-17 and 17-18 warriors were the best team of all time, bar none. Sickeningly good
Please do more videos analysis like this💯💯
I know your channel and I think you should cover how Steph is willing to play defense despite the people saying he's liable on the defensive end
It would be better if you compared him with Lamian Dillard
it's the most underrated aspect of his skill set: defense. This 2017 Warriors team is greatest assembled group of players. Not just because of their shooting, but because of their defense... prime KD, Green, Iguodala, two way Klay and Curry.
2016-17 Warriors Season Was One Of My All Time Favorites
You love superteams? You're not a real nba fan then 😂
@@WAT_UWant lol the only big name they got was KD. Everyone else was homegrown talent. Cope!
Someone tell Kerr it isn’t 2017 any longer.…. Every team shoots three’s and they’re good at it. Draft a big.
The problem with drafting and playing a big is Draymond Green, cant play them both at the same time.
Forever Young hits different for this team😥
When people are matching them with the 96 Bulls, people put matchups on them. The reason why they are so dangerous is because you cant put them in an iso on offense unless you switch everything which opens a lot of lanes and either a KD mismatch or Curry on a big.
facts fam. As great as the 96 Bulls were they are not outscoring this prime Warriors team in a 7 game series even with MJ.
I never had a problem with KD going there because I knew it would be great basketball being played. Instead of not hating them and actually watching them play, it was just as fun to watch the 16-17 Warriors as the 15-16 Warriors. Plus they got extreme hate from the Lebron and Cavs crowd which didn’t help.
I've been a warriors fan since the 80s so I've seen the good, bad , and the horrible days, we could just walk in the game in East Oakland we were that bad lol 😂😂😂the A'S were the only thing good raiders left to LA in 83; who won the super bowl the first year there and has not ever won again . I'm happy I was around when they did when Golden State and the Athletics
Basketball IQ makes a difference.
It's the Duncan/Ginobli/ Parker Spurs and this Splash Bro/Durant team...the most beautiful basketball I've ever witnessed. Just beautiful. Everyone touches the ball. Everyone sets screens. Everyone cuts. Ball never stops. Every play feels like a design play even when it's not.
Spurs didn't have a walking cheat code Seth Curry though.
I have been a warriors fan since Run TMC i always like Tim Hardaway and Baron Davis, i remember when we had folks like Nate Robinson and Ish Smith, Al Harrington, Stacks, and that we believe squad, i dont think people realize how much off an intricate part of the warriors office centers around Draymond Green, he has become one of if not the most accurate and efficient passer in the NBA. Just look at him throughout the years and how much of a chemistry he built with Steph and Klay, he knows exactly where their spots are and he knows how to pass it to them, whether it be a direct pass or a bounce pass. Draymond is the Warriors as much as Steph is.
Literally the last 3 previous MVPS on one team KD 2014 Steph 2015,2016 with the Defensive player of the year Draymond Green 2017
Seeing speights not on the warriors make me sad even now lol
We loved you mo buckets
Unlike last year's champion, this is truly basketball at its finest.
Not even the NBA could stop kevin durant from joining the warriors to form another superteam. NBA wants competitive balance within their league but have failed to achieve that for so long until present day 2024
This offense is the mold that all other teams are working off of today. High volume threes to create space for easy lays. No one does it as good as what we see in this video, but that's what they emulate.
Lmao dray getting techs in the past present and future
Only if KD never left this team this will be a contender even in this era this deceaion was such a big mistake😢

I was literally unstoppable with KD Klay, and curry in 2k .. i could fade away and green light 3s with curry all game. Curry could hit a logo 3 from anywhere. Kd just sauced everyone and could hit from logo aswell
Curry said in that JJ interview that in his opinion, game 1 of the 2017 Finals was the absolute peak of skill and competition. It's not hard to see why with how ridiculous this team was and how amazing Lebron had been that postseason.
Don't forget that Curry deferred to Durant and "held back" his own offense.
Thinking basketball the GOAT
0:46 HOLY SHIT 😂😂😂😂, i was already think kerr looked young af and now jj appears, no idea he was at the clippers in 17. It's weird to be following something for a long time.
This video is 🔥
Let me make this simple for yall.
3 of the best shooters in the history of the sport
And 1 defender who is always top 5 in defense.
How could you beat them
No one can stop the 2017 warriors cause they have the DPOY(Dangerous player of the year) Pachulia
the most cheat code team in the history of nba when it comes in offense
THANK YOU!!! For posting this. I forgot how amazing this team was when Looney saw zero court time!! When draymond got to play alongside a center and 7 footer at the same time. And when draymond gets a T, another 7 footer comes on court. We had Zaza a real center and a Durant 7 footer. We had a Mcgee 7 footer, David West!! NOT LOONEY. for some insane reason, Looney gets credit for 3 rings, and these guys are completely forgotten about. I am so sick of dumb warrior fans praising looney. And we used to have actual able body centers on the roster. Now we have podz and looney and franchise Is a joke instead of a dynasty
15 - 18 Warriors / Tiki Taka Barca - both played head and shoulders above every other team because of their tactics
Best team ever and I think Steph has a very strong case to be the best offensive player ever
Kawhi bout broke em up twice😂😂😂
thinking basketball content!!!
Gotta do a video on that mathcup they had with the spurs in 2017 and how things shifted when Kawhi got injured.
Start at 4:27. Blake Griffin reaches out with his elbow to strike Curry in the jaw, turning his head. At the other end Griffins violence episode continues, Draymont is pulled down and gets a foul called. Maybe a Griffin preemptive strike prior to retaliation. Draymont can’t deal with it, but the strike on Curry was viscous.
I miss the Splash Bros already..
Thinking basketball also just made me notice how a scrub/role player type player like pachulia suddenly thrives if he's playing with 4 stars. A lot of these highlights include a pachulia screen, offensive rebound or finish at the rim which is just pretty funny
This year Cavs looking like a Warriors in the making 👀🔥
Curry is definitely greater than Lebron in my ranking of NBA history! He is not just a great shoter but also a great defender
1:45 that's exactly the point Steve Kerr used to make during interviews.
The bulls would NOT beat this team
didn't realize this is the official NBA channel.
Im with doc rivers with this one no one cant do anything against this team imagine scoring their halftime score in just a quarter and now up by 20 when they started down by 12
Let’s go thinking basketball (goat)
Because they had KD and Curry. They were Dynamic Duo
you should make this 2 hours long
Greatest team of all time
How? Other than your ignorant opinion
@@joshchambers5163 They average like 90 ppg on made three pointers alone. You can't guard the pass or they iso you with KD and Curry. You can't guard the three, because they get easy layups. You can't guard the rim, because they will knock down every jumper you give up. This is the greatest shooting team of all time.
@@joshchambers5163 they're just unguardable. Klay went for 60 in 3 quarters that season, and he was the third option. Him and Steph are 1 and 2 in the record books for single game threes, and Curry can make the hardest shots on the planet look effortless. And don't get me started on KD. Even if they don't have the best defense, there is no other team ever that could outscore them if it came down to it. The spacing, the bench, the scheme. only the 2001 lakers and them went 16-1 in the playoffs, and while i think those guys would give the 2017 Dubs the best run for their money, it would still probably be over in 6. Shaq could put up 50 each night and it wouldn't be enough. 1996 Mike would've been reminded of what it was like getting bounced in the 1st round by Larry's Celtics. The Heatles would've gotten cooked with how little depth they were rocking. No one could hang with those Warriors teams, there's a reason everyone knew who was winning it all before the season even began.
People don't give the 2017 Cavs nearly enough credit for being an all-time team as well (notice in the video for one of the eye-popping stats for the Warriors TB had to specifically mention "besides the 2017 Cavs") because the Warriors sonned them in 5 games. That team is cruising to a ring today, and it wasn't even close outside of one historic game from Bron and Kai.
11:52 how is that not a travel?
Because they had two of the greatest scoring players ever? And one of best shooters as well
Greatest team in nba history bar none.
