      I hope this was helpful! I personally love them, but oil pastels do depend a lot on what art style you want to use them for. 😊

    Really lovely to see you take the oil pastels out for plein air painting. I was wondering how they would work plein air and your result is really nice, seems like you could achieve a good representation of the scene even with just this one set of Mungyo oil pastels. Its also great they don't need any medium so the set up is super quick.

      Thank you so much! I have to admit: South Korea isn't great for drawing outdoors with these, the moment we get past spring, it's so humid and hot the oil pastels literally melt away if I take them out into the sun! :')
      The set proved really versatile, I still reach for it constantly!

    Hi, can you please tell me if they are toxic or not? Can you use them without gloves and blend with fingers etc? Because they do not have the ap seal on them.

    • @evydraws-art
      @evydraws-art  Год назад

      They do not have the AP seal - and while they seem to have had it in the past, I'm not sure when that changed. With the price point what it is, I'm assuming this isn't because of pigments like Cadmiums or Cobalt - those being genuine would make these oil pastels much more expensive, after all? So it might be some less expensive pigments that don't have a non-toxicity rating, or something in the binding? I rarely blend with my fingers (only touching the painting in rare occasions) and generally wash my hands multiple times during painting sessions, no matter what materials I'm using, just to be safe!
      A good thing here: They're not very messy, so the oil pastels don't stick to the paper cover of the sticks etc, and I don't seem to be getting any on my hands while painting if I don't deliberately touch the painting. :)

    OK, I'm getting all confused about the types of Mungyo Oil Pastels;
    I know there are two Gallery types: blue box, cheap ones, and black box, the more professional ones and more expensive. But there is another type; the ones in a black box with a painting cropped right on the center and a big hand written typography which reads "Soft Oil Pastels", the ones you're using in this video. THOUGH, in the Aliexpress shop's pictures, the pastels' labels also read "SOFT OIL PASTELS" but yours don't!
    It bugs me big time that Mungyo doesn't help at all when you need to learn these stuffs. How can I choose what to purchase?!

    • @evydraws-art
      @evydraws-art  Год назад +1

      They are very confusing, and I think they had a rebrand or packaging design change a few years ago. The blue box, cheap ones for kids, are specifically not part of their "gallery" professional line... but a friend of mine didn't know that and literally used the kids' version for years without noticing. :')
      They also have a soft pastel line, a handmade soft pastel line, and more recently, a line of watersoluble oil pastels.
      Also, for some reason I don't understand, only the 72 color box (the one I have here) has this golden color cover, all the other boxes in this line only have text and a dark image, i.e. the 120, 48, 24 color sets. Maybe that's the different version you saw?
      Sorry if I can't be of more help, as I mostly get mine directly from Korean suppliers that provide detailed information, and don't know much about Alibaba's selection! If you have a link to the box you're unsure about, maybe I can help :)

      @@evydraws-art thanks for your response. It's very insightful. I haven't checked the Gallery Soft Oil Pastels x72 box so, it might be the reason for the different design -though, it's still an odd choice-.
      They definetely need a whole rebranding. The boxes should be pretty self explanatory.
      As for me, living in the mountains in Southern Chile, there isn't much choice but to purchase through Ali's platform because I don't have any artist's supplier near ;'(
