I think you can "paint" or "colour" with oil pastels depending on how you use them. That's one of the things that I love about this media, they are very versatile!

I agree its always nice to do swatches to better understand your medium, how it works with the paper and how hard or gentle to lay them down, these are super vibrant and colourful. I have seen people discribe it both ways. I never know whether to complement on drawing or painting, what a cuteeee cat 😍😍

It's so good to see like-minded people! About the car, I think it's a bit anatomically off, I'm thinking about studying cat's anatomy for a while and maybe posting something in the future

    I like these a lot!
    Few crumbs = great.
    Not dry, or too soft.
Deep colors and a good variety…
except (as you said) the choice of greens.
    - And I like the paper you showed us.
Thanks for that! I’ll be purchasing some for sure.

I see what you mean about the large amount of greens but very few earth tones. They paint really nicely though.

I have the 48 set that I bought about three or four years ago… I wonder if they’ve improved the formula since then? Always found them a bit stiff but a step up from the❤❤ really dry brands, like cray pas . I have those two other super creamy sticky brands that you mentioned and yes they can be messy, but they have their place usually at the end when I need some ultra smooth blending.
Recently, I tried a brand called Montmarte, and oh my gosh, the texture is supreme! Zero crumbs and blends like a dream :-) oh, and did I mention they are extremely inexpensive? Pretty certain they’re not light fast, although I could be wrong. Mungyo doesn’t seem to have any information about that anyway. But they’re worth trying and I hope if you do you make a video because they’re excellent! Love your style of video and the swatches look great :-)

Thank you so much for the suggestion! They are on my cart now. As soon as I have them on my hands and play around with them a bit I'll make a video for sure!

@@iosebaart that would be awesome! There is a slight difference between their signature set and their extra soft set. The signature set being a little bit harder/firmer. I hope you get a chance to try them and I will definitely keep an eye out for the video!❤

These are fantastic, I love my 48 set. If I need more in the future, I'll try to get the 120 set. There is indeed something as too soft. Currently awaiting some Kuelox ones that should be similar to these, but with some muted (morandi) colours. Great painting 🎉

I'm glad you liked it! And that 48 set sounds great, especially since you can expand into the direction you personally prefer instead of being stuck with whatever comes in the box.

Where did you find them?! I had them in my Amazon cart (the Kuelox Morandi) and when I went to buy them today, there were sold out!!!!

    Thank u for the vid!
I went to get oil pastels (not soft ones) but Im confused
The box says soft pastels but the sticks are round and say oil pastel
Another of their products say soft on the sticks and are squared in shape
How do i know the mungyos im getting are oil pastels not soft pastels?

    • @iosebaart
      @iosebaart  6 месяцев назад +1

Soft pastels are like a chalk, they are dry and dusty kind of like colored charcoal, and generally, in my experience they are squared.
Oil pastels are more like a crayon, they are waxy. The ones you want to get, like the mungyos, are soft oil pastels, which are something like a soft crayon, and they are rounded.
      Hope that helps. :)

Great video but that background music on the loop is quite disruptive. At least for me. The volume of the music competes with your voice.
Had to mute the video and put the close captions which made difficult to watch the swatches.😢

Hi! I'm so sorry for the issue :( can I ask what kind of device were you using to watch the video?

@veystone2580 I agree I find the music fighting with his voice for my attention really hard to watch. I have watched 3 of his videos so I'm not watching 5 minutes and then complaining and so you know I have watched on my PC and my tablet it makes no difference it is still distracting, I really don't understand why you want to make it hard work to watch your videos.
