    I'm so happy to see someone that's obsessed with Teal as much as I am! I ALWAYS love to use a Magenta/Florescent Pink along side the teal to offset it's explosiveness.

    it is true when they said that the quality of your art dont depend on the materials but on your skill lol it looks like there is no difference with your art using crayola
    you are so damn talenteeedd 💗💋

    • @Ceares
      @Ceares 3 года назад +24

      @Mello Lieb I mean yes, but also no. Or rather it does depend on your materials, but not on the cost of your materials. There are cheap materials that work just fine and that you can do more than decent work with...consider the #2 pencil- you don't need a $20 pencil to do good work- and cheap materials that hamper your ability. It's honestly more both medium and manufacturer(Crayola is not professional grade but it's not the trash that some cheap art supplies are either) than an all around judgement. When people say that though, it's usually because expensive materials get pushed a lot, from art school to youtube etc... as if that's the only way to do anything good.
      The truth is, if the skill and knowledge is already there, then it's easier to work around cheap materials.

    • @frameturtle
      @frameturtle 3 года назад +9

      @M.L the points people are usually tryna make is to student artists.
      1. Your art doesnt look shit cause of the materials if youre a student
      2. When starting out the fanciest thing isnt neccessary.l

    • @jessmjfan989
      @jessmjfan989 11 месяцев назад

      If you're a beginner the materials are not that of a big deal. I started out with printer paper and regular pencils... and then moved to digital.. and my skills improve so much over 10 years! so it all depends on how much effort you put into your art.

    It’s definitely a good idea with all types of pastels, even the chalk kind, to use the harder ones on the under layer and the softer ones on top. Just works better and layers better. I love your videos!

    Black Bean I think your art is amazing! I am still at that stage where I am trying to get my head around colour theory, I am nowhere near at the stage of being able to draw like you draw. Not even close. Your work makes my heart sing! Your use of colour, the exaggerated features of your characters, the way you give your drawings so much personality. I love your way of seeing beauty and then representing it in such a bold form. It's so dynamic! Your drawings are not hyperrealistic, and yet they have as much personality as if they were! Which blows my mind. How do you DO that? You are so very talented and I LOVE your work! Just LOVE IT! God bless you Black Bean and all your family.

    I've tried the Mungyo and they are lovely and smooth to work with, a bit like the Caran D'Ache Neopasteld (which might be another brand for you to try, though I recommend getting a few sticks to try first since you have so many sets already). I've never used Crayola, but I've made the mistake of using the Artist Loft Brand oil pastels (don't do it).
    As for a candy to try, I recommend Sour HiChew if you can find a bag, or just Hi Chew in general, hard to go wrong with any flavor.

    You make it look SO easy. So I headed to Michaels. Purchased the fresh Strathmore and Crayolas. Drive home. Sketched up a cute leopard. Begun the creaming process. Swiped my phalanges around and created cream cheese, followed by more vigorous rubbing, we now have string cheese, kept rubbing, and off came the remainder of pastel coloring. Back to square one with a blank page slightly tinted with color. Where did I go wrong? 😭

    Very true. I think you’re so used to grinding the Crayola that using a softer oil pastel just requires some time to figure out how to blend the Mungyo better. Or maybe your abstract portraits just suits the dry chalky Crayola better and the softer oil pastels are better for another style 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Mungyo. I have these and just trying them out. Thinking of getting the Sakura Cray-Pas since they’re supposed to be comparable

    I think it's a different look of touch overall. Since Myungyo is so creamy it's nice but it MIGHT lacks some texture that can be achieved with Crayola. I think you like that bit of roughness/dryness better than what can possibly be boring creamy texture. A great and fun review!

    The Mungyo gallery 48 set are the first real oil pastels (aka not soft wax crayons with lies on the label saying they're oil pastels when they're NOT) that I've used since I was a small child, and I love them. I'm amazed that they're available so cheap. They're definitely not as soft as Sennelier, but that has its advantages. Maybe I'll try Crayola sometime too. Crayola has some surprisingly good art supplies. Some of their watercolor sets are pretty good.

    I have very expensive soft pastels and Mungyo are always my favorites over them. I just love them. I don't know why! They are amazing with their colors, application and blending and I can imagine their oil pastels are just as good to use. The others are just too soft, the others too hard so Goldilocks needs her Mungyo! :D Love, love, LOVE your videos and your art. A great oil pastel artist to watch, what a joy. (Candy ... Lemonheads for the win. If they still make them, lol.)

      I've been debating on buying oil pastels because I just couldn't figure out what brand, other than Mungyo, I see myself enjoying. Buuuut Mungyo looks so amazing!

    Loved both drawings. Fav was second. I use different brands of pastels based on my mood. Sometimes I use pastels on that that foam comes in all colors that kids craft with. Such a great feel drawing on it. Comes in sheets about 20 x10 maybe, or close to that .,.anyway love you and your channel. Your the BEST!! THANK YOU!!

    YOu are making the whole "what to buy" thing fun. Usually it's so stressful. And I love that you are comparing to Crayola. I subscribed and I don't even do oil pastels. I did buy the aquarelle soft oil pastels by Mungyo to use with my watercolour painting. But I'm really not getting it. Any tutorial recommendations gladly received. Thank you for making me smile a lot.

    I like my Mungyos. I use them as base colours because they’re solid and opaque - not as dry as Crayola or Pentel, but they stay where I put them, and put Sennelier, NeoPastels, etc on top.
