Finally, someone to bully the bully. Jax has it coming, lomg over due.
Giving Jade the elimination after the pack was unable to, plus the double on Naomi and Becky, was the best buildup possible without giving her the win.
Especially when 6 other women tried to eliminate her but couldn't.
My take is this. The Rock will be the host of WM so he will prevent Solo from interfering in the Cody vs Roman match, costing Roman the title with a clean pinfall. That will lead to a Roman vs The Rock storyline and no title needed there.

The Women's Royal Rumble was the best. Loved it. Loved it . Looooooved it. Glad Bayley Won, loved Cody winning and loved that shot of Liv, Jade, Tiffany and Bianca watching Bayley celebrate. Tiffany is going to be a star.
I thought it was awesome. Everything a rumble match should have been.
Bayley was absolutely amazing! even when she was 'resting' she would be taunting the other women or bantering with the announcers. One of the best wrestling PPVs I've seen in a long time.

A little add on to your point about Breakker vs Gunther is that Bron is the only other man ( besides Ilja) to defeat Gunther in a singles match in wwe, he and Drew are the only two men who have Pinned Gunther in Wwe.
Breakker showing up in the 90s Steiner Bros singlet was excellent.
Absolutely loved both Rumble matches, so I was a bit surprised when I went online and saw so many complaints.
Thought they both were paced well, liked most of the entrants and spots, and both had nice storytelling.
But oh well, can't please everybody

The women's rumble was so entertaining. The men's was just kind of like whatever outside of the winner. And the hot tag. Jade much better than I expected her and it was a lot of creative eliminations at the end. One of my favorites
Agreed. Last year, ricochet and Logan Paul had a moment, Gunther rocked and Cody won. This year, my royal rumble moment was…r truth doing a hot tag and maybe the pat mcefee self elimination (probably replacing where Brock was supposed to enter). It wasn’t a horrible event and everybody did good work, but it was painfully predictable. The only question I had was would Cody eliminate gunther or cm punk last.

As someone that was there live, and rewatched last night on Peacock, it's crazy to see an almost night and day difference to the reactions. Tropicana Field was loud for everything except the lesser known NXT callups and the first half of KO vs Logan Paul, but on the stream the audio doesn't reflect this, and sounds more dead throughout.
There was a part where Bron eliminated both Ivar and Omos before getting tossed by Dom, most of the crowd did not see it because the stadium screens cut to JD McDonuts visuals for the entire sequence, and the production truck didn't cut back into the feed until R Trurh came out. Really dragged the energy down for a few spots. But everything else I felt was great, the KO DQ went off huge in there, Jade came off like a million dollars, and everyone was firmly in Cody's corner by the end.
I've seen some people who posted phone footage from the show! I was REALLY excited to hear that Naomi DID actually get a reaction.
I think a large part of that has to do with the stadium they were in. Baseball stadiums are built so that the crowd noise travels up instead of in, because the networks want the sounds like the crack of a bat or the ball hitting the catcher's mitt to be loud enough to hear on the tv over the crowd.
After Friday.. I was hoping Trick was an entrant. 48k people shouting “Whoop that trick” would have generated goosebumps.
Ya.. But once Booker T chimed in it was alot sweeter...
That was my first time seeing Jade wrestle...consider me a fan! Man she was impressive.
I'm still a bit worried about more regular matches. She WAS getting better over time in AEW but by that point she had been Goldberged into our faces so much no one cared and just hated on her!
@@JacksonOwexWWE is also better at telling stories and has more women who could believably defeat Jade so I think it'll be less of an issue, I love AEW but the Female division is kind of a joke, no fault of the talent, just not used properly outside a select few

First, Jade Cargill is impressive as hell. I never got to see her in AEW and heard that, while entertaining, she was kinda green. While i can see there's work to be done, I like what I see in Jade. Plus, I'm drooling for a Cargill vs Belair match.
Second, you better be a surprise entrant in next year's rumble, Simon. If Jordynne Grace can show up, so can you. SIMON MILLER AT 'MANIA!!!
My 3 year old was so into the women's rumble. She was excited to hear that 30 girls would be wrestling ❤
The brass knuckles didn't necessarily oppose WWE's normal presentation because KO left the knuckles on. Normally the user would take them off before going for the pin. I thought it was perfectly believable that the ref would see them and call for a DQ. The inconsistency is when someone tries the Eddie Guerrero move with the chair: sometimes the ref calls for a DQ, and sometimes not, just at the sight of the chair.
Women's match was awesome, I loved it and I'm happy for Bayley. No more reliance on legends to keep your attention because the roster is so strong. Curious to see what happens next with Damage Ctrl but I'm assuming it'll be her vs. Iyo eventually.
KO and Logan Paul was pretty good with a messy ending (he's a seasoned heel, he knows to hide the evidence!). And I just can't bring myself to watch Roman matches anymore. I zone out and do something else because you know it's gonna be 1, 2, Solo interferes and things go off the rails. I don't mind him retaining but they gotta come up with something new for the actual match finishes.
Men's rumble had its moments. But personally, I just don't care about Cody for a variety of reasons. It was funny to hear Punk mention "Dusty's kid" because that's been Cody's primary character trait since his return.

If you gonna put Tiffany Stratton in the womens tag team division I vote you team her up with Chelsea Green their characters would mesh really well, the prissy mean girl, and the karen lol
OMG! That WOULD be great! They are even kind of both BOTH of those things!!! Now I want this, and maybe Nia and Niven together to just be a Women's version of the Brothers of Destruction. Two women who come out and just beat the tar out of everyone!
That Biance Belair and Jade Cargil face-off was just amazing!!! Even the crowd was into it

I think my main point it that people are still mad Cody didn't win last year, and now they are mad he's going against Roman again....Most stories, especially the best ones have the villain win throughout the tale, making the eventual win by the hero that much sweeter.
I thought that women’s rumble was potentially a Top 5 rumble all-time. It told so many stories, was extremely well paced, set up future matches, great returns and debut’s. Just extremely well done.
I think the overall Women's Rumble was great. It started fun and lasted pretty much the whole way through. I didn't care for the middle of the Men's Rumble... it started pretty good with Jimmy and Jay but then nothing really happened until like entrance 25. Even Cody showing at 15 didn't have much impact until we got Punk, Drew, and Priest coming at the end. It certainly wasn't a BAD Rumble, but not exactly a great one either.
As for the other two matches... KO vs Jake Paul was better than I thought it would be and I didn't hate the finish as much as everybody else did. But, the Fatal 4 Way felt so slow and pointless. For a match where everybody had something to prove, there were maybe one or two spots in it that actually felt exciting. One guy would take a hit and sit in the corner for five minutes... which wouldn't necessarily be bad if not for the fact that ALL of them were doing it. At almost no point in the match were all four guys even in the ring together.
Bro is that a real background, even it’s not it’s badass.
The Rock should be ringside to ensure no bloodline interferes. Could even run the angle of ‘The Head of the table shouldn’t need help to win’

Have Roman win, but acknowledge that his time is coming to an end. Have him tell Solo that he can't leave the Tribe in weak hands, though. Maybe put Solo through a proving ground and have him eventually turn face, beat Roman and bring Jimmy and Jey back together.
Bronson Reed essentially eliminating himself was kinda hilarious. Had to be a better way to cover a missed spot than putting your leg over the rope yourself.

Biggest surprise of the night was Jordynne Grace. So glad they acknowledge the TNA Knockouts Championship. Especially when Jordynn and Naomi met in the middle of the ring when Cole mentions Jordynn was the one to beat Naomi for the title.
Jade Cargill came in and did what she needed to do and show she is a monster by eliminating Nia Jax. Then it took Liv and Bayley to eliminate her.
Funniest moment of the night was when R-Truth wanted the hot tag. R-Truth is the perfect amount of goofy wrestling.
Bron Breakker should be the one to defeat Gunther at WrestleMania.
Bayley winning is great. Going to have a rehash of Triple H choosing Randy Orton. I say that Damage CTRL beats down Bayley when she chooses Io then Sasha Banks comes out to make the save.
I really enjoyed this video. The Rumble show was good,, but nothing extraordinairy. Like you, I think the women's match was better than the men's match because it had more story and surprises. For the KO vs Logan Paul match, I enjoyed the fact they used the same story I saw as a kid in the late 80s... Mr Perfect vs Hogan... The Genius give's Perfect the knuckles, Hogan takes them from Perfect, hit him and pinned him only for the ref to see the knuckles and disqualify him.
Cody’s biggest achievement and redemption story would be beating Reign and Punk at the main event of Wrestlemania. It closes Cody’s story with him winning, and Punk finally main event Wrestlemania. And if they do the draft again, we can get a Cody vs Punk feud.

Although the night two main event is the "true" main event, the show closing match of night one is also considered a main event. Punk can have that one, and maybe if he's a good boy he can close the second night in a year or two. Putting him in a triple threat means he's the third wheel, while also diminishing Cody's win because even if he pins Reigns, in essence he needed Punk's help to do so.
I’m calling it:
Rock is special enforcer after tension with him calling out Solo and Roman for all the interference. During the match Solo tries something slick with the referee and Rock stops him. Reigns sees this and turns around to Cody for the 1-2-3 after the cross Rhodes. After the match Roman confronts Rock who then tries to cool him down and point out that he didn’t need help to win. Roman throws a punch and hits Rock. Rock retaliates with a Rock Bottom. Feud is set and the destruction of the bloodline story begins.

What if Jade and Bianca slap the crap out of each other but end up in a Stalemate and after WM they just go on a freaking Rampage through the Tag division together kinda thing like the Mega Powers back in the Day.
I think I'd rather see Jade vs. Nia at Mania. Nia being pissed that Jade is the reason she isn't getting her Mania match against Rhea and then the two of them causing problems for each other if they are in the Elimination Chamber match, or whatever they do to crown a contender for the other women's belt(it's not ALWAYS a Chamber match). I guess it could just be Jade in there and Nia coming out to distract her.
Then maybe run a longer story with Bianca and Jade up to SummerSlam perhaps. Maybe only until MitB, SummerSlam is a bit too long maybe.
Fun fact: the Mega Powers didn't go on a rampage through the tag team division. They only teamed together three times (six if you count house shows). The first was a main event tag match at SummerSlam against fellow main eventers DiBiase and Andre while the second was a traditional 5v5 elimination match at Survivor Series. Their third and final match teaming together to defeat the Twin Towers on TV is the only time they wrestled a team who is primarily part of the tag team division. They also didn't become a team due to a stalemate against one another, if that's what you meant with the comparison.
With that said I do really like the idea. Perhaps The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) would have been a more logical comparison since they were rivals who fought to a draw before forming a very successful team.

The problem I have with the argument about the lack of surprises is that there were not many people available. The Rock would've had to win and that would've angered fans. Expecting MJF or Okada is being delusional. Chris Masters, X Pac or Mr Kennedy aren't really big stars. Zack Ryder has other commitments for a while at least. Stone Cold or Undertaker aren't gonna come back to be eliminated quickly and they'd eclipse the current talent. Who else is there? I can't really think of anyone that would've fulfilled the expectations of the IWC.

once we know what the chamber matches are actually for we can really start the speculation trains but at the moment we dont know which title its for , whether its actually for that title or whether its number 1 contender for a mania match , I can honestly see it being for the IC title considering the guys for Oz that you could put in there that wouldnt quite fit in the world title picture ( Bronson , Grayson )
Id just have Punk run a program with Drew , i mean the story is already there up till Rolins is fit and then have the winner of that feud ( as much as Id prefer it to be Drew it'll be punk for obvious reasons ) face Rolins at Mania

Better than last year, purely because there were surprises. I remember last time when something like 28/30 men had announced ahead of time. Love me a surprise at the Rumble.
I'll say this true for Lee and honestly. It was the right call to make Cody. Winning continue and finished the story on course. However, I will say this I. Enjoy the women's Royal Rumble match a lot more than the men's.
I didn't mind Bayley winning either. She did great, she. It always felt like she was a bridesmaid, but never a bride if you get the. Reference you understand it. The great surprise from Jorydanne grace i loved it watching her in the RR instantly proved to be that she fits in the realm WWE like a glove. I just wish she didnt have a super long contact with TNA. and Jade cargill just turned into a major major superstar just from that 1 appearance.
So "uneventful" = the event I had imagined in my own head canon didn't happen, therefore I am disappointed?
I've seen a lot of comments saying the women's rumble match was a lot better than the men's I personally feel this is because the women's had an overall story for the match which was based around damage control, because of this we got more surprise entrants. The men's rumble match seemed to be more individual stories with the participants, hence less surprises and less of a feel to the match.
As did Simon I also found the lack of jimmy/jey story after the start was a missed opportunity
4-way ruined the rumble.
Imagine your final 4 is Cody, Punk, Gunther, Knight.
Knight takes Gunther. Crowd is rumbling.
Knight takes a low blow from Punk & gets eliminated.
The crowd would HATE it. Palpable heat.
Cody takes Punk out & is the saviour.

I'd also agree with you, Solo coming out hurt that match. People are already frustrated Roman never wrestles, and now it's even more so when he does because it's always Bloodline shenanigans.

The Solo interference could've been to continue the pattern of him helping Roman in order to build toward Solo being the one to take the head of the table from him. Roman goes over Rock with help and then it's Solo finally takes Romans seat.

You can't have a record every match.
One of the things I think is overlooked is that the news about Vince broke while people were preparing and rehearsing. I think it would be ridiculous to think that there wasn't an impact on focus and execution in some way from all that. To be fair, there was more going on than just execution, but I do think that has an effect on some of the clunkiness.
But overall. It was fun.

I think night 1 main event should be Seth v Punk v Drew and drew wins because he deserves since he’s been losing a lot and that’ll set up a feud between punk and Seth and whoever ends up winning that feud could face drew at backlash or whatever just a thought

Couldn't agree more w/ everything you said, especially the women's rumble crushing the men's. And the sole issue w/ the Fatal-4 was the interference it was so unnecessary. But that Kairi Sane spot was amazing &the single most impressive thing I saw at the Rumble

The Women's Elimination Chamber could be Jade Cargill, Nia Jax, Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Liv Morgan. If Lynch wins, she can go after Rhea Ripley at Wrestlemania, while Bayley goes against Iyo. This could also lead to Jade vs Nia having a hell of a match on the Wrestlemania undercard. There are other female superstars that you could put in there, but these seem like the usually suspects that WWE would use.
That sounds good to me! Could also keep setting up Nia vs. Jade(which I think is what they might be doing) at Mania and even sprinkle in some Jade vs. Bianca for future stuff. Both of these are programs I would LOVE to see!!!

The should have started the Lashley Kross feud at the Rumble, basically just do the same thing they did without the build up the past two weeks. I think it would feel less forced and you end up at the same spot, that is my only major critique.
I know it’s just silly wrestling, but I was there in Tampa and I almost cried when Bayley won. She really deserved this.

The women’s rumble was very well done. It had all the elements you want in a rumble. They treated everyone perfectly, Jordynne, Nia, Jade everyone.
The men’s was a solid rumble but lacked the surprise element. The rumble is one event that draws in old fans. Nostalgia sells and the men’s rumble lacked that.
I agree. The woman’s match was way better than the men’s this year. Jade was awesome. Her menacing presence reminds me of Chyna
I liked Solo coming in during the 4-way but he did so little and just wrecked himself on the barricade. Thought the match ended kind of abruptly after that, with Roman hitting his finishers on the other 3 and winning in pretty vanilla fashion. Id have gladly watched another 5-10 mins with Solo taking a bit more payback from the non-Roman competitors in the match.
Glad I'm not the only one that thought the end felt like it came a bit fast. There haven't been any reports that AJ got hurt during that end sequence has there?! If he was that could be why they just went to end there. Though it could also have been the plan because we all knew Roman wasn't losing, why drag it out!
@JacksonOwex I think the fact that we all knew Roman was winning was the reason the quick, fairly vanilla ending was such a letdown. I though the rope-bump spot between AJ and LA before Roman landed finishers on them was going to be the start of a wild and wacky spot fest to end the match. But it was the only crazy spot in the end sequence. They teased the stacking and double/triple pin thing, and I thought a nice way to pay that off would be to have Roman put the Guillotine on Randy and then fall back with his back on AJ and LA for a double pin + submission finish.
Simon's so passionate about the Royal Rumble that reality can hardly keep him in the same plane of existence. If this is how strongly he feels about WWE's booking, imagine what physics-bending feats he could do in the ring to any rival so unfortunate to face him!
I'm telling you Simon. What WWE should do with Jade is team her up with Bianca. They can become the most dominant women's tag team in WWE history. It can develop Jade as a wrestler and give the WWE Universe a really good run to enjoy

The men’s Rumble suffered from a lack of surprise entrants and a predictable finish. No real tension throughout.
Bianca Vs Jade should be a proper match like Cena Vs Batista or Brock Vs Roman. Brock vs Goldberg is Nia Vs Jade.
I think the men’s Rumble was better last year for sure but that last 10 mins or so with Cody and Punk was amazing

i agree, i almost did not watch the women's royal rumble. However, i thought it was really entertaining. I won't sleep on the women's royal rumble going forward.

I watched the Royal Rumble with some of my friends who aren't as invested as me. And without fail, Cody was the guy all my friends wanted to win. And they knew who CM punk was from all the controversy in 2011. *we're all 18-19* range, so we were kids in 2011*. So the suprise for me of cody actual winning was what made the match for me. I dont get why we're so against wwe doing so well that they dont need to use legends who probably won't do anything except for a pop. I think fans are pop hungry. I had so much fun watching this ple, and my friends have asked me to invite them over for the next ple.
I think someone has signed with WWE that wasn’t in the Rumble and will show up to save Bailey from Damage Control. Then this person and Naomi will take on The Kabuki Warriors.
Simon!!!!!!! I Enjoyed the Rumble! I think Bayley winning was a great choice. IMHO, the only other viable choice would have been Nia Jax. She has been on a tear and has interestingly been kept away from Rhea and her title. I love the tension that has developed between Nia, Rhea and Becky. A triple threat match would be great at Mania with those three. Jade Cargill still looks a little green and throwing her into a main even type match at Mania already seems a bit premature. Maybe Nia wins at Mania and its Jade that dethrones her. That would be good. I think she will get there but not this year. As for Bronn Breaker, he is an amazing talent but to be the one to dethrone Gunther? Hmmmm. It's in the realm of possibility but to make him an actual credible threat is a different story. I still believe it should be or should have been Chad Gable.
The only way I can see the Rock fighting Roman at WrestleMania make sense is if Roman fights both nights. He loses the title to Cody night 1 and then he fights the rock for the Head of the Table moniker on night 2.

I don't even care, or WANT, to see Roman-Rock anymore. It should have happened already and there's been plenty of times to do it. It's too late now!

Completely agree that Belair vs Cargill is the right match for Mania. Pleasantly surprised that Bayley won and like her story with Damage Control. Think Cody has to beat Roman, has to! Biggest disappointment was seeing how far Sami Zayn’s star has fallen. He’d be a great choice for next IC champ.
