I find it very funny that some obscure cheap (in price) anime roguelike looks and plays better than Yandere Simulator is after around a decade now without just being a way for its creator to indulge in their fetishes
to be fair, tags can also be applied by users, and often they will apply roguelike tags onto games that arent really roguelikes. so the tagging system is.... not that great, in that respect
I can already tell by the intro visuals that you played Hell is Other Demons That game is so cracked. I love it. I really really wish I could find more simple hard action games like it!

This is crazy, I'm actually IRL friends with the guy who made Nekomancy. I was an early playtester for it and everything. I was absolutely not expecting it to show up in a video like this. Probably hard to believe since that seems like such a huge coincidence on the internet but I know the guy lmao.
Rogue: if you lose, you have to start again from the beginning without any progress. Skooch: idk, does it make sense to lose everything and start from the beginning when you die? I mean, i understand that language evolves, but i think the genre "roguelike" is not well understood by many people. It means that the game employs a permadeath mechanic and procedurally generated levels. If you want to be nitpicky you can discern between roguelike and roguelike-like games, the latter being a more open category. "True" roguelikes would also emply turn based combat and inventory management. The most important thing would be, however, that there is no progression between runs. Those games, like hades or the binding of isaac would fall into the category of roguelite. So that first game would be a roguelike(like) game and there's nothing "harsh" about having to restart from scratch. Anyways, i did enjoy that video a lot, and while i probably won't play any of these games myself it's always fun to learn about some... More unique experiences.
I think its pretty funny how in the "can we talk about roguelikes" video a month after this video he makes a case for roguelite being a bad term and not necessary. While in this video he had already effectively proven the need for it.
Nekomancy probably has less than 50 review that are mixed, because some people really, really love the concept and some really, really hate everything else. It costs about 5 bucks.
Alright Mr Engaging Entertainer, I'll write my predictions alongside the video and write an after-thought once I see the results. LLSD: Id say at least 15 USD if it has voice acting. The meta humor and self awareness is really fun, tho the gameplay could probably use some work albeit a pretty neat idea. Reviews under 1K, and being torn between gameplay and humor, id guess that the reviews are positive, but not overwhelmingly so. LLSD: Dayum the game is cheap for the entertainment value, great job devs! 250+ reviews for such a new game is really nice to see, and the very positive reviews is also great to see. 1/3 for me HIOT: Out of an amazing looking game with seemingly fluid gameplay and a sick OST, im pretty comfortable saying the game cost approx 15$ with overwhelmingly positive reviews at a 2K review count. HIOT: DAMN again with the great prices from small devs. You keep the gaming scene alive and we love you for it, amazing work. 92% positive im counting as a W, though I continue to overestimate peoples desire to leave a review lmao. 2/3 points 4 me Nekomancy: What a bruh game. I honestly fell in love with it as soon as you started casting the spells, my monkey brain loved the colors and animations, but then immediately I was disenchanted to hear the game didn't function well. Id have to guess the game was 5$, with mixed reviews at around 25 Nekomancy: Truly one of the games ever. The free price tag negates all wrongdoings of this game, mine as much crypto as you want. 0/3 points Also thank you Reb for providing the games big pog
Nice video Skooch. Btw you should try 30xx. It is basically a megaman x style roguelike with goated music and really interesting synergies with the powers
Would love to see you play Battle Brothers, Darkest dungeon, Slay the Spire, Barotrauma, Hollow Knight, Gungeon, Endoparasitic, FTL, Into The Breach, Noita, Project Zomboid and Songs of conquest. There is a bunch more i can think of but i will leave a fraction of this for you to look at and analyze.
Love Love: 200 reviews, 80% very positive, $20. VERDICT: Only got 1 point there. Underestimated the reviews and way overestimate the price. Hell Is Other Demons: 300 reviews, 80% very positive, $15. VERDICT: Seriously underestimated the reviews, but the other two were within acceptable range. Two points. Nekomancy: 10 reviews, 90% negative (because some people be crazy), $5 VERDICT: ZERO! Completely underestimated this one in every way, except for the price which I overestimated to an incalculable degree. So yeah, we got the exact same score, Skooch. If you're bad at this, you're no worse than I am.
I really miss Metal Gear Solid Online, that was one of the only PvP online games that did more than just "shoot the other guys" to me and i think back to it all the time.
YESSS Hell is other demons! I love that game (got it for free on epic games haha) it was so much fun to play it, but it is a bit hard due to the controls.

Roguelikes are like arcade games with goated replayability
it's like playing an arcade game but occasionally the arcade machine stands up and kicks you in the face
Arcade games but without being designed around spending money on tokens
This is a really cool video idea. nice work!
I love roguelikes and love you videos well this is perfect

Doki Doki but Roguelike I feel would be under 100 reviews with mixed reception because it has a high price point like 80 bucks or something
I'll make predictions and edit the comment as the video goes on.
FIrst Game guesses:
-probably like 50 reviews max
-price i would say 20 USD
-reception is actually probably pretty good overall, with the fact that you lose all the progress being the major complain, so I'd say Mostly Positive
well i was wrong af, overestimated the price and underestimated the reviews by quite a bit. Also for some reason in my brain Mostly Positive was the next thing after Mixed, which is completely wrong xD pretty sure its actually Mixed, Positive, Very Positive, Mostly Positive and then Overwhelmingly Positive, so I had the right idea but fucked up the guess
Second Game:
-I'm gonna go with 1k reviews
-20 USD again
-And Mostly Positive again, could be Overwhelmingly Positive but seems like a stretch
God damn it my memory with the reviews thing is terrible, I guess Very is more than Mostly if 92 is Very. So again had the right tier but wrong guess. Off in reviews and prices too
Third Game:
-idk 20 reviews?
-either 1 dollar or 100 depending on who released it, I'm just gonna go with 1 out of principles
-the only reason this wouldn't have overwhelmingly negative reviews is because there's not enough reviews to get to that percentage unless they are all negative (which could happen), so I'm gonna say very negative cause there's probably one positive review posted by a friend of the dev
what the actual fuck, no shot that's not just paid bots or people the dev knows xD
