    Devon is a purpose-training genius.
    Exercise creation. Adaptation. Cross-discipline awareness. All directed at a specific purpose. Brilliant.

    • @topijarvinen5374
      @topijarvinen5374 8 дней назад +36

      Yes but he neglects the overall general strength training which still has a part and absolutely makes you stronger on the table as well. Some of that is from his injuries and some from getting too deep into this "purpose specific training". Almost all the other strong arm wrestlers still do general purpose training and lifts which gives them more strength. That would apply to Brian too of course. You should always train for your purpose, but in things where core general strength is still a factor and can improved neglecting that isn't exactly a great thing either.

    • @artonline01

      @topijarvinen5374 8 дней назад +29

      @@artonline01 Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit is it? I was talking about Devons training and how Devon neglects general training. This whole Brian shaw thing is basically a reverse of Devon himself. Devon went all in with "purpose specific" training and it wasn't enough, he lacked the strength and now he will try to do the reversal with Brian. Brian a super strong guy as a base will have to learn "purpose specific" training on top of his base strength that he already has and knows how to train.

    • @slipperyslope3912

      @@topijarvinen5374 I've just seen way too many "strength trainers" throw people cookie cutter workouts that have no application to the athlete's end goal.

    Most of the video is actually tips on how to build a base through making sure that the forms are as correct as per the standards that Devon used on himself over the years, making sure you get maximum efficiency, while targeting all the muscle groups with minimum risk of injury.
    What makes me believe that Brian has the potential to go really far in arm wrestling, is that he has proven discipline and dedication to make it a success.

    Devons shirt is displaying a Dungeons and Dragons character Raistlin Majere from the Dragon Lance tales
    Raistlin was a ruthlessly ambitious young wizard. His body was broken when he succeeded in passing the test for high sorcery at a far too young age, leaving him sickly and weak. His hair was turned white, his skin turned to gold and he got these hour glass eyes, that saw everything as it decays over time. He coughed up blood all the time and was always dependent on his big warrior twin brother to help and protect him. His brother loved him unconditionally and sacrificed everything to help his brother. Raistlin was embittered and eaten up by his own ambition as well as jealous of his brother’s imposing physique, he went from neutral to outright evil through the course of the novels. He turned his back on his brother and through the means of a bloodstone, a powerful magical amulet, stole the soul of Fistandantilus, a great and evil wizard of old. In that way Raistlin became the master of the past and the present and gained the ability to travel in time. In the end he challenged Takhisis queen of darkness, the chief goddess of evil.
