- Plans are taking shape for a war memorial to honour Muslim soldiers who served during the First and Second World Wars.
At least 2.5 million Muslim soldiers and labourers are reported to have fought with the Allied forces in the First World War, and 5.5 million in the Second World War.
Nearly 1.5 million were killed in action.

2:05 I see Indian Army soldiers, but these people seem to see Hindu soldiers, Muslim soldiers, Sikh soldiers, ... how disgraceful!
Could we have a memorial for the South African soldiers who fought in both world wars?
Ai! Same
One of the most notable members of the Special Operations Executive (the forerunner of the current intelligence services) in WW2 was a Sufi Muslim woman, Noor Inayat Khan. She was captured in France, tortured and executed at Dachau. She is absolutely a war hero and deservedly awarded the highest civilian honour, the George Cross.
We remember our war dead ...but let's face it, this plan is appeasement. There were Muslims on both sides in both wars, just as there were Christians on both sides. Let's not pretend that there is any connection between the religion and which side people fought on.
Noor Inayat Khan would want to be remembered as an Indian woman, a descendant of the brave Tipu Sultan of Mysore. Tipu was also an ally of the American Revolution, and fought with Col. Arthur Wellesley, the later Duke of Wellington.
This is not about honouring soldiers.
It is about reinforcing the myth that diversity built Britain.
its not a myth
Diversity is destroying Britain.
@funbegins2371 True. It’s BS.
Well didn’t it?
@@Dededevine In a way, yes, Britain has been "diverse" since Roman times, at least a little bit. But the numbers involved are tiny. The demographic change in Britain that has happened in the past quarter-century is completely unlike anything that has gone before.
Where is the individual memorials for
Jews
Hindus
Polish
Catolics
Protestants
South Africans
Sikhs
Gurkhas
etc, etc, etc.
So why show Sikh soldiers in the caption.
How about the polish fighter pilots?
What about them?
@@Am4rkble they saved Britain they should get more recognition
How about the second world War started because of Poland
they have a memorial...
The polish have a memorial opposite the roundabout at Northolt west London
The photo shows sikh soldiers??
Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus fought in the same battalions. Look it up and do some of your own research.

how about a memorial for jewish soldiers?
there are memorials for jewish soldiers
There already are
They're is one in the same park
spot on
There are...
let's not forget the 24 brave muslim soldiers from West Yorkshire, convicted yesterday...how many countless "bands of brothers" got convicted already...they need a monument
Their war cry is "curry" not "currahee" as in the original Band of Brothers.😊
And why did they get convicted? Well crimes obviously 🙄
I'm sure this will sit well with the public
Where on Earth is a soldier differentiated based on religion?? This is an insult to soldiers actually. A soldier is a soldier, fighting for his nation. Their only religion should be patriotism.
Patriotism isn't religion
@@morizwan123 Pity your understanding. Bye.
@@morizwan123at least patriotism is real, unlike every fictional religion.
Spoken like someone who has fought for his country 😂
@@Dededevine I have fought and the sentiment of the original comment was right. Stick to what you know
Are these the ones from the 13th mountain division? The handschar? Wrong side guys.
We remember soldiers… What has religion got to do with it? It’s divisive and should be scrapped.
Memorial for all those that died for the interests of the very few. War is a racket.
Stupidest comment so far. Not on benefits are you?
Long live the King 👑 Kingdom 🇬🇧 🙏
What about one for their billions of victims over the last 1,400 years?
What about what about what about. Give up and get a life
One for all the minor humans that suffered under the ideology
We call it appeasement politics in our part of the world
How about the bosnian Muslim SS squadron we got a memorial for them too have we
predictably far taller and more prominent than the other memorials contained within the National Memorial Arboretum.
These are Sikh soldiers not Muslims
There were Muslim soldiers too
The photo is from WWI. Those days all Indian Army soldiers wore turbans. Some of them are Sikhs yes, but some of them are Pashtun or Baloch Muslims, some of them are also Hindus. This is probably a photo of those who won medals and battle honors from various regiments of the Indian Army.
What about hindu soldiers in british indian army
feel free to create a memorial for them :)
What about them traitor that we sold out India to British for the own personal gains
it is political my dear friend
I am Muslim, but even I know that is a shallow and pathetic attempt to placate us with regards to horrors the British are supporting in gaza and palestine in general.
India is the darling of the west right now, so Hindus are not going to get a memorial like this. Britain is not currently supporting a genocide of Hindus.
Heros.
Lmao i love the comments 😂
Britain was saved on the backs of the indian army. Their contribution was far more than any other faith in terms of the sheer numbers of those that fought and died.
Bigoted nonsense
And so the appeasing of this one faith grows!
Were there any
What about the other non-Christian people who contributed, or at least some context
feel free to create a memorial for them as well :)
Britain was saved on the backs of the indian army. Their contribution was more than some other faiths and nationalities who contributed in terms of the sheer numbers of those that fought and died.
It's about time they got their own memorials.
The only reason Muslims are mentioned here is because the British want to divert attention from the current war crimes they're supporting in gaza
The Muslim vote is what they're chasing =)
@@morizwan123 it’s hard enough to protect the ones we’ve already got

Appeasement ….. they have yet to learn that it does not work.
@@dalmar5567 Censored but will repeat, it is bigotry
Certainly, during WW2, (often irrespective of religion) turban style headwear was worn by those serving in the British ( Indian) Army.
Is that for the ones fighting for the Germans aswell 👀
I wonder if we can climb on it or drape foreign flags on it without being arrested 🤔
Exactly!!
Honoring conscription is a better way of putting it. Imagine getting forced to fight for the country that your father died fighting against.
Kept this quiet …. The ‘stealing our jobs’ and ‘get them out our country’ won’t want to hear this 😂😂
Does that include the Turks?
What about the rest of the 86% of the British Indian Army soldiers that where not Muslims don't they count for anything now
Majority of the British Indian soldiers were Muslims as the majority of British Indian armies were of Punjabi, Baloch and Pathan ethnicities. Among the Punjabis, 80% are Muslims, where Pathan and Baloch are nearly 99.9% Muslims. There were also Rajputs, Gurkhas, and Bengalis (70% of Bengalis are Muslims) but in total Muslims were the bulk of the British Indian army.
@@se20558 rightly pointed, was thinking the same
@@se20558 factually incorrect. Sikhs constituted majority of the Punjabi recruits. The famed Gurkhas and regiments of the Central Provinces were Hindu
This is exactly why honoring soldiers for anything but being soldiers is a bad idea. It only invites countless "what about's", and creates animosity and hard feelings. They were all soldiers. There were many different backgrounds and beliefs.
Honor them for what they did not who they were.
Honoring them for who they were is a families job. Not the governments.
Many of them went over to the Japanese …
So many whataboutism comments lol
Butthurts
So many extremists within ideology
Isn't it very late
BBC has an interesting report about the peas full ones in West Yorkshire.

"Every Anzac Day since 2011, marchers have assembled at the foot of Anzac Parade leading to the Australian War Memorial (AWM). Participants have commemorated those Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who gave their lives defending their homelands from the incursions of British and other colonists from 1788, when the First Fleet arrived in what we now call Sydney. Although not permitted to join Anzac Day veterans commemorating the fallen of overseas wars in which Australians have participated, Frontier Wars marchers hope that one day the AWM and Australians generally will accept colonial frontier conflicts as befitting official recognition as part of Australia’s war history." (From 'Australian Frontier Wars Marches')
How about that good old England!
How about remembering normal soldiers? Islam is our enemy, not our friend.
Woking huh
Sick soldiers in the thumbnail?
oh boy!!!!!!!!
what about the Christians, Hindus, Bahais, and Voodoo Memorials.....................................Bandes of hypocites and blenders.
Why do we have to celebrate a certain race or religion. Why not a memorial for everyone. And teaching people that a memorial for people who fort in the second world war represents people of all colour and race? My grand father fort in the second world war. He's black. But don't feel like we have to say yh he's a statue for black people I'm more than happy to just say everyone who fort are heros
The conservatives will not like this. Where are they?
Quite a lot of Muslims fought for Socialism in WW2 against Liberal and Conservative democracies. I wonder if they will get a statue too?
Alhamdulilah
Allah is the greatest
Not needed. Not wanted.
Peter Oborne has written a great book on this subject. The Fate of Abraham. It must be taught in schools. Tories and Labour would hate this book. It speaks the truth.
The comments below actually disgust me… it’s about raising awareness which I didn’t even know about actually. We do have many memorials for ‘our own soldiers’. Be thankful that other soldiers helped us…
Well if Germany had won, they wouldn't have been able to come here.
Disgraceful!
🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱
now we're getting religion involved...... some common sense please!
Can we pull it down, if we discover some of them had links to the slave trade?
Religiocracy😂
Do some research on what exactly these "soldiers " did during the war....
The majority of them served in Burmha, alongside other British Army regiments and my great grandad, fighting the Japanese. They also fought against Rommel in Africa, playing a key part in the Battle of Alamein, as well as other actions. The British Indian Army also served in Italy, being the third largest Allied army, behind the British and American. 2.4 million Indians, of which 40% were Muslim, volunteered to fight for Britain in the Second World War, and we would do well to remember that, something the memorial seeks to do.

It's called pandering to a rabid mob and not love and respect.
All of them would have preferred a memorial to their Indian Army they served in, or their respective regiments, rather than try to divide them by sectarian lines. They didn't fight as Muslims, they fought as Indians, just as the Hindus, Gorkhas, Sikhs, Jews and Parsis did.
